It's low on revelations, but a new trailer shows Claire Redfield and Moira Burton having the worst Terra Save welcome party ever. Well, minus the one when Leon showed up. The first weekly episode of Resident Evil Revelations 2 hits Xboxen, PlayStations and PC in early 2015. [Image: Capcom]

Capcom will tell tales in Resident Evil Revelations 2 across four downloadable episodes that are due to be released weekly, each priced at $6. The upcoming sequel will later be available in a $25 complete season package that includes additional, undisclosed content. A $40 complete disc version is also scheduled, again with extra content. The Japanese studio's dabbled with episodic formats before, and it did present the previous Revelations game in TV-like episodes, albeit within a complete game, similar to Remedy's Alan Wake. Capcom didn't note how long each episode will last beyond "hours," but it did promise cliffhanger endings to keep users twiddling their thumbs from week to week.

  • Resident Evil: Revelations 2 box art spotted on Xbox.com

Leaked box art straight from Microsoft's official Xbox.com site points towards a sequel to Resident Evil: Revelations, the horror shooter that transitioned from 3DS to big screens last year. As spotted by French site Gamer in a Box, the Xbox.com site hosts the Xbox 360 box art image for Biohazard Revelations 2, Biohazard of course being the Japanese name for Resident Evil. The above screenshot is also hosted in the same folder as the box art image. This isn't the first time we've seen Resident Evil Revelations 2 appear in the online shadows. In the summer, Russian retailer VideoIGR posted then swiftly removed a listing for the game, with pre-orders available on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3. As Hardcore Gamer reports, the retailer also listed (then removed) DmC: Devil May Cry Ultimate for PS4 and Xbox One, suggesting a possible remaster of the 2013 PS3 and Xbox 360 hack-and-slash. [Update: When approached about the Xbox.com images, a company spokesperson told Joystiq, "Capcom has made no announcements."] Check out the box art below the break.

  • Resident Evil: Revelations tops 1 million sales on console, PC

Proving that fan affection for Resident Evil is as undying as the franchise's hordes of shambling corpses, Capcom has announced that the high-definition remake of Resident Evil: Revelations has surpassed 1 million total sales. Our review of Revelations, a console and PC remake of the original 3DS game, describes it as a successful, if middling port: "Resident Evil fans will want to see the story, and will forgive the design flaws and wacky dialogue. For everyone else, the game doesn't hold the HD spotlight well. This was a quality handheld title, but on a larger screen it falls into the middle of the pack." A post on Capcom Unity announced the sales numbers: "Just a quick little pat on the back for RE Revelations – the console/PC versions have passed the 1 million mark in worldwide sales and are currently sitting pretty at 1.1 million overall." As we reported earlier, both Dead Rising 3 and Monster Hunter 4 have passed the million shipped and sold marks, respectively. [Image: Capcom]

  • Lost Planet 3 ships 300,000 units, Dead Rising 3 aims for 1.2 million

Capcom has put a number to the "below expectations" performance of Lost Planet 3, that of 300,000 units shipped worldwide as of the end of September. While that only represents its first month at retail, the shooter sequel developed by Californian studio Spark Unlimited failed to hit performance targets in Europe and North America. The Japanese company previously expressed disappointment in the "excessive" amount of projects outsourced overseas, which it believed led to a decrease in quality. Capcom previously deemed Lost Planet 2 an underperformer, but that game went on to ship 1.5 million units worldwide. That said, based on its first month figures Lost Planet 3 will have done very well if it matches that performance. It's not all doom and gloom for Capcom. For starters, the 1 million units shipped by console and PC ports of Resident Evil: Revelations were in line with projections. Also, expansion/follow-up Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen came in at 650,000 units, comparing favorably to the million-plus shipped by the original game. Then there's the small matter of Monster Hunter 4, with the 3DS juggernaut shipping 3 million units in its first month - and that's just in Japan. Looking ahead, Capcom's big name game in the second half of its fiscal year is Dead Rising 3. Given it's a launch game on Xbox One, there's pragmatism to the company's projections of 1.2 million units shipped by the end of March 2014. While Dead Rising 2 shipped 2.2 million units a few years ago, Capcom put that game out on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. As it stands, the sequel is exclusive to the Xbox One.

  • Prices plummet on 3DS, Wii U Resident Evil games

To celebrate the spookiest holiday of the year, Capcom has slashed prices on its Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Resident Evil games by a sizable 50 percent. From now until the end of October, prospective bio-weapon slayers will find the Wii U version of Resident Evil Revelations priced at $20 on the console's eShop. The 3DS iteration of Revelations will set you back $10, a price point shared by the handheld Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. After Halloween, these discounts will drift away like so many discarded Butterfinger wrappers on the streets of suburban America. With discounts in place, should you take this opportunity to add a new Resident Evil adventure to your shelves? That's a tough call. All three of the games included in this discount scheme are relatively middling Resident Evil entries. Our review of Revelations awarded the game 3 of 5 stars, saying that while the 3DS version of the game is impressive, its graphical prowess is notably less stunning on the more powerful Wii U. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D on the other hand, received 2.5 of 5 stars, and is pithily described as "little more than a fully-priced proof of concept."

  • Resident Evil: Revelations proclaims top spot in this week's UK charts

The shivering mass exposed at the summit of this week's charts is Resident Evil: Revelations. While last year's 3DS game debuted in sixth, its PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC port takes advantage of all its new platforms to knock Metro: Last Light off the top, and provide yet another new No. 1 in the UK. Last Light continues to flicker in third, with charts mainstay FIFA 13 no doubt climbing to second thanks to some timely price promotion. It was a soccer-packed weekend in the UK, with the final of the Champions League taking place in Wembley, London. This led to a certain, spirited German fan dozing on the shoulder of a certain Joystiq editor on a certain early morning bus ride home. Repeatedly. And drippily. Moving on, the other new entry in this week's top ten is Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, which surpasses the Wii version's best-ever placement of seventh; the 3DS port debuts in fifth. Further down the charts, Activision's Fast and Furious: Showdown tie-in screeches into a debut position of 14th.

The 3DS is no graphical slouch. Aside from the glasses-free 3D feature, the system can kick out some impressive scenery, and it did so with last year's Resident Evil Revelations, a well-made little horror shooter in a series that's been looking for a lifeboat lately. After launching Resident Evil 6 fewer than six months ago, Capcom seems to think HD platforms need even more Resident Evil love, and so this week Revelations hits Xbox 360, PS3, Windows PCs, and the Wii U. Playing it in enhanced form on an HD console, however, feels just a little goofy. The textures do look excellent, but the game's models are clearly made for a more lightweight graphics engine, which means you get characters with hair frozen in place and enemies with just a few animations to use over and over again. Revelations was made for a handheld machine, and its designers cut corners that the other platforms would have let them curve around more gracefully. But Revelations' saving grace is that it's a Resident Evil game, and it's a good Resident Evil game at that. For that reason, fans of the series who missed out the first time around will probably appreciate the chance to see it for themselves.%Gallery-188861%

Then, on June 11, Capcom will issue two additional characters for use in Raid mode: Rachel Ooze and Lady Hunk. Each character costs 240 MS Points ($3). Resident Evil: Revelations is a remake of the 3DS game bearing the same name launched by Capcom in early 2012. The upcoming console/PC iteration of Resident Evil: Revelations will include a trio of confusing new costumes for Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and Keith Lumley, Capcom has announced. As can be seen in the gallery, Jill and Chris both sport equally leggy nautical-themed outfits, while Keith channels his inner One Piece character as a shirtless sword-guy in hammer pants. Costumes are unlocked by playing through the game's Campaign and Raid modes, in addition to "other unlocking mechanisms" that Capcom is keeping a secret. We're just hoping Capcom eventually rides this train of thought all the way to its logical extreme: Pretty Soldier Sailor Claire Redfield.%Gallery-188759%

The Wii U version of Resident Evil: Revelations will allow players to communicate with both the newly departed and the long, long dead, thanks to its Miiverse integration. After being viciously eviscerated by some horrible monstrosity, players can use the GamePad to scrawl their last, gasping message to the living world, which is then later seen by players who die under similar circumstances.Meanwhile, players can also use the "Creatures Voice" feature in Raid Mode to change what monsters are thinking and saying, which will be fun until one of them reveals your deepest, most traumatic secrets to your group of friends. After the ensuing argument, it's discovered that the message wasn't written by any of you, and that the only person who knew your awful secret died 10 years ago. How did the game know?
