Netflix's first 'Transformers' teaser reveals a hopeless war

Netflix has posted the first teaser trailer for its Transformers animated series, and it's now clear just how the service will take on the robots' origins. The clip for the first part of the War For Cybertron trilogy, Siege, portrays the Autobots fighting a seemingly hopeless war to prevent the Decepticons from finding the Allspark (the source of the machines' power) and destroying the essence of what the Transformers are. It's not the most complex narrative, although it's surprisingly bleak for kids' fare. It even draws eerie parallels with human politics by having Megatron spin the Autobots' efforts as "aggression."

Rooster Teeth, the production company behind Red vs. Blue and a slew of other video adventures, has announced the dates for its third annual Rooster Teeth Expo, or RTX. The event will be held at the Austin Convention Center (which also happens to house GDC: Online every year) from Friday, July 5 through Sunday, July 7.RTX 2012 drew a crowd of 4,000 people with a diverse programming schedule that included as many Halo 4 announcements as it did YouTube panels featuring Hannah Hart of My Drunk Kitchen fame, making it a bit less orthodox than the typical gaming convention. Considering that RTX 2013 expands the event from two days to three, Rooster Teeth must believe its formula is working.

Halo 4's iteration of the Forge map editor is currently under development at Certain Affinity, the development studio responsible for Age of Booty, Crimson Alliance and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary's multiplayer. The announcement was made during a presentation at Rooster Teeth's second annual RTX event in Austin, TX.While a wide breadth of changes and additions have been made to the Forge editor, most interesting are the "Player Trait Zones," which allow map builders to modify the characteristics of any players that enter the effected area, changing the height of their jumps, the speed at which they run, etc. It's even possible to reverse the gravity in a given area by using "Grav Volume" field.Enhancements have also been made to the objects that can be placed by users: Elements can now be locked in place, magnetized and more efficiently duplicated. The editor's lighting system has also been overhauled; objects placed now cast and receive shadows normally. Finally, a map editor capable of bringing our upside-down film noir Halo dreams to life.Update: Now with video! Thanks, Austin!

We can barely believe we just wrote that headline. When we watched the first few episodes of Red vs. Blue in 2003, we thought they were pretty hilarious, but that the show would fade like so many other online parodies do. And now we're writing about the show's tenth season. Thanks for making us feel old and wrong, Rooster Teeth.Season 10 of Red vs. Blue kicks off tomorrow, May 28, and features the vocal talents of Elijah Wood as an AI program called Sigma. This season will complete the Project Freelancer story line, as shown in the above, mature-language-filled trailer.

Who knew that behind the scenes of the planet's favorite avian-launching casual game hides a twisted narrative of political intrigue and wartime subterfuge? It took the keen minds of Rooster Teeth to discover this plot and commit it to video, which they've done in the trailer posted below.

There are only two things that disturb our FPS concentration: mom's unwillingness to bring over some chocolate milk; and the dullards spouting racist, homophobic inanity online. Rooster Teeth and Mega 64 just tested a real soldier's resistance to e-idiocy, and we've posted the video results after the break.

In the midst of the increased account security worries over the past months, a little levity isn't always unwelcome. Aion is combining the two with a series entitled "The More You MMO." Part one focused on the dangers of RMT. Part two was released yesterday, complete with an extra shot of awesome in the form of a partnership with Rooster Teeth. The post consists of a simultaneously hilarious and creepy video illustrating what could happen to you if you use a powerleveling service, except you won't get any cookies. Aion's newest The More You MMO reminds us that Powerlevelers are professional thieves, not philanthropists, and using such a service is putting your account at risk. The video drives the point home and provides a laugh along the way, so it's worth a watch. Follow along after the jump to check out the video, and read up on the dangers of powerleveling over at the Aion site. Also, watch out for Papa Lou.

In the pilot episode of a new web series titled "Immersion," the comedic machinimists of Rooster Teeth attempted to bring a popular action game phenomenon into the real world: What if you could really drive a car from a third-person perspective? Using a pole, some dumbbells, an expensive camera and some vision-impairing black sheets, the troupe was able to have an entertaining, albeit entirely irresponsible out-of-car driving experience. Check out the NSFW video after the jump to see their automotive shenanigans in action.

You know Rooster Teeth from Red vs. Blue, but have you ever wanted to check out the interior of their sweet offices? Inconspicuously located above a coffee shop in Austin, Texas, we got a sneak peek at the place where all the magic happens during SXSW. That one shot of all of the different controllers? That's that heart and soul of the show, while the recording studio is a glamorously converted women's restroom. Oh, and for you Achievement Hunter fans out there? That comes to you from underneath the Rock 'em Sock 'em robots. Rooster Teeth will be showing off some of that magic as they bring a big change to the next season of Red vs. Blue, and we promised to keep our mouths shut after they gave us a sneak peek. But suffice it to say, it's packed with even more awesome hilariousness. Burnie Burns and the Rooster Teeth team toured us around their digs, although they're moving to a new studio soon. They'll be premiering parts of the new episode at PAX East this weekend, after which we can reveal said seekruts. %Gallery-88596%

Microsoft has sent out the latest Halo Waypoint update, detailing the content that we can expect to see in the near future. The update goes over the recent Halo: Reach info that has hit the interwebs, namely the ViDoc and the box art. It notes that this and future Reach info will be posted on the Transmissions section of the official Halo site on Xbox.com. There's also a Valentine's Day screenshot gallery on Waypoint, with help from one Hawty McBloggy. The real meat of the update, however, is that a new short series from Rooster Teeth -- the crew behind Red vs Blue -- will begin airing on Waypoint starting this weekend. The three part series, entitled "Grifball: Expansion," will air every Saturday starting February 20 and concluding on March 6. The series "tells the story of Team Slipspace and their confrontation with the newest addition to the International Grifball League of Earth." Check out a trailer for the series above.

No doubt it's Champions Online that seems to be getting the superhero MMO headlines of late in the gaming press, both for the new title's release and for some of the issues they've had in relation to that launch. But competition is generally a good thing from a gamer's perspective, and City of Heroes is also stepping up their game, particularly in regards to the Mission Architect. When the devs introduced the Mission Architect to City of Heroes, it was their first step towards embracing player-generated content and adding new dimensions to the game experience. They've announced that the next step with Mission Architect is to have a Guest Author Program where "comic book notables try their hand at mission design." NCsoft says the program will "invite influential writers and aspiring game or story designers" to collaborate with the City of Heroes devs and bring these missions into the game.

The team at Rooster Teeth is in promo mode, releasing the second (of four) special episodes of Red vs. Blue to celebrate the upcoming release of Halo 3: ODST for GameStop. The videos follow everyone's favorite clueless Spartans as they prepare for the arrival of new competition -- the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers -- by previewing the "non-Spartan class" soldiers in action. What's expected to be video of humans getting picked apart by the enemy turns into a showcase of the ODST group decimating Covenant forces. Looks like the ODST aren't going to be the pushovers the RvB Spartans had hoped for. Poor guys, they just can't catch a break. Check out episode two of the four part arc after the jump.

In the third installment of the City of Heroes-based Captain Dynamic series created by Rooster Teeth, the good old Cap'n must deal with the villainous, uh, villainy of his arch-nemesis the Great Face! We'd tell you how it ends, but that'd be a form of cruelty too high even for the likes of GF, as Cap'n D calls him. So, instead, we'll simply tell you how awesome this episode (and series) is and how you should really go check it out below the cut.We really mean it, like... right now. Not tomorrow, or after lunch -- unless you've got a burrito, because those turn pretty nasty once they're cold.Ahem. Just check it out.

He's baaaaaaack! We catch up on Captain Dynamic and his crew of mission specialists in part two of this hilarious three-part miniseries. This time he's ready to show off some wicked shape shifting abilities and fills us in on what makes him so dynamic and captain-y. Did you know captains can marry two people on a ship? One would think a license would be required to do that, but perhaps being supremely dynamic supercedes the law in this case. We also catch a startling glimpse of his arch-nemesis, the Great Face!Captain Dynamic was created by Rooster Teeth (the same guys who produce the Red vs. Blue Halo machinima) to promote City of Heroes' upcoming Issue 14 update. A big part of this free update will be the new Mission Architect system where players can create missions that other heroes and villains can run for experience.Check out the entire second episode below the cut!

We'd like to take this moment and declare our love for Rooster Teeth, because they have once again created something wonderful (probably by touching their awesome button) for City of Heroes' upcoming Mission Architect system. This is the first episode in a three part mini-series entitled Captain Dynamic, and it's basically about the very cool create-your-own-mission tools coming in the free Issue 14 update. So we hope you enjoy it as much as we did, because we really enjoyed it. Actually, yeah, we may need to see a doctor about the searing pain in our sides.Check out the entire first episode just below the cut!

Earlier yesterday, the Rooster Teeth crew held a rather interesting reveal, unveiling their latest Red vs. Blue project and it has gone animated. Yup, RvB has moved on from its machinima roots and jumped into the world of Japanese anime complete with vivid imagery and pretty colors. It's still the good old Rooster Teeth humor we've all come to know and love ... just animated with some dancing Grunts. Off-screen footage embedded above.[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]

The Rooster Teeth gang had a rather interesting reveal at this year's PAX 2008 ... an anime of Red v. Blue. Yes, the known machinima has crossed the threshold into Japanese animation. Of course, the voicing and ad lib comedy that's made them famous is still intact. Check out the shaky came footage after the break.
