Saints Row 4 players can now wreak heretofore unimagined levels of surreal havoc in virtual Steelport with five new DLC packs. Starting today, players can download the free Reverse Cosplay Pack, which adds the Genki Space Pimp outfit and Freckle Bitch's attire to the in-game wardrobe. Also launching today is the College Daze DLC pack ($3), offering frat boy and sorority girl outfits and a unique barstool vehicle. Sporty players may prefer the Game On DLC ($3), which adds a collection of hockey and golf gear in addition to new weapons. For $1, players can up their arsenals with The Polarizer, which won the GameStop Warped Weapon Challenge. The magnetized gun sucks in passers-by and turns them into deadly projectiles. Cash-strapped Steelport citizens may opt for today's final DLC offering, the Bling Bling Pack ($3), which equips players with money-themed superpowers and a literal Midas touch that turns enemies into gold. Showing proper respect for the 'hood is about to get a lot easier thanks to an agreement between Saints Row developer Volition Inc. and gaming-centric clothier Insert Coin which allows the latter to release a line of garments emblazoned with Saints Row themes. Included in the preview images on Insert Coin's site are a Saints Flow t-shirt, a classy Johnny Gat polo shirt, a hoodie sporting Saints colors and, most crucially, leggings covered in the grinning, Cheshire smile of Professor Genki. Visit Insert Coin for a full view of what the company has planned. While there's no specific release date attached to these garments just yet, Insert Coin hopes to release the line at some point in "early 2014." Prices have also yet to be determined, but if the price tags attached to Insert Coin's line of men's tees are any indicator, expect this Saints Row merchandise to be relatively spendy.

Sega's military strategy game Company of Heroes 2 and Volition's open-world fever dream simulator Saints Row 4 are next in line to get the Free Steam Weekend treatment. Both games are free to download and play via Steam starting today and extending through Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Company of Heroes 2 additionally drops its price by 66 percent over the weekend, while Saints Row 4 is currently 50 percent off. The Saints Row Franchise Pack is also up for grabs at a steep discount, offering Saints Row 2, Saints Row: The Third, Saints Row 4, and a fairly ridiculous collection of DLC for $29.99. If a dual-game free weekend hasn't yet quenched your thirst for sweet deals, Digital Extremes' The Darkness 2 is currently priced at $7.49 as part of today's Steam Daily Deal.

If you thought Volition couldn't dig deeper for a gag, you forgot about the bedrock. The Stone Age DLC pack has just launched for Saints Row 4, available now on Steam for $2.99. The pack features giant club and bone weapon costume, caveman outfits for male and female characters and a "Flintstone's like car." For those worried, Volition promises the DLC features "100% historically-accurate" content. Based on the pictures of said content, we're inclined to believe them. So, go forth my sex toy-swinging friends and have a gay old time with one of Joystiq's favorite games of 2013.

  • Joystiq Top 10 of 2013: Saints Row 4

Team Joystiq is barging into 2014 with a celebration of last year's best games. Keep reading throughout the week to see our assembly of ingenious indies and triple-A triumphs. Saints Row 4 is a deceptively smart, dumb game. The developers at Volition Inc. have successfully mated the tightest gameplay in the Saints Row series to date with its most over-the-top weapons (including flight, telekinesis and other superpowers), most drawn out, ridiculous celebrity cameos, and some of the finest funny video game writing ever scribbled down. Granted, the game has its fair share of lowbrow poop jokes (not to mention weaponized sex toys), but at the same time it's apparent that the writers at Volition are some very clever people. Saints Row 4 rarely relies on memes or easy humor, and the surprisingly deep level of satire underlying the experience is simultaneously welcome and totally unnecessary to your enjoyment of the game.

Best Buy is featuring discounts on two games as part of its sales for today only. Saints Row 4 is 40 percent off ($29.99) for both Xbox 360 and PS3, saving players $20 on the game's list price. Those that pick up the Xbox 360 version may want to act fast to get the game's season pass at a discount through Xbox Live, a separate deal that started yesterday. Additionally, Gran Turismo 6 is 33 percent off ($39.99) at Best Buy today. By comparison, Saints Row 4 is currently 33 percent off ($33.49) on Steam, a deal that lasts until January 2. The PC version of the game is not part of Best Buy's sale.

  • Comedian Jay Mohr rejoins star-studded Saints Row cast

Former Blizzcon host Jay Mohr is again lending his voice to the Saints Row franchise, a series that also boasts Hollywood notables such as Neil Patrick Harris, Burt Reynolds, and in possibly the greatest cameo appearance ever, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Mohr broke the news on Twitter, stating simply, "About to do my voice over work for new Saints Row video game." Alongside this message Mohr posted a photograph of the recording studio he was using where a screen clearly shows several fan-favorite Saints Row characters. Unfortunately, Mohr's image offers no further hints at what the actor's involvement might be in the Saints Row universe. Saints Row 4 is a new enough game that this recent recording session may be related to an upcoming, as yet unannounced DLC addition for the game. On the other hand, the game is also old enough that developer Volition could have pulled Mohr in to record lines for Saints Row 5. While not necessarily a direct indicator of his role, Mohr previously voiced Dane Vogel, antagonist of Saints Row 2. Whatever the case, we likely won't know more any time soon. Mohr's become coy since his initial reveal, and neither Volition nor publisher Deep Silver will say anything further. Edit: This article has been altered to note that Jay Mohr previously appeared as a voice actor in the Saints Row series. [Image: Flickr]

  • Robotic chimp, metal dragon aid sick kids in Saints Row 4 charity DLC

Sure, they're a bloodthirsty gang of polysexual criminals, some of whom literally get off on violence, yet the 3rd Street Saints also have a softer side, and a recent agreement to aid Child's Play proves as much in typical Saints Row style. Here's how things work: If you pay a visit to Steam, you'll notice a new DLC pack for Saints Row 4 entitled "Child's Play Pack." All profits generated by sales of the $3 pack will go toward the Child's Play Charity, which seeks to outfit hospitals and family crisis centers with gaming machines in the hopes that kids might find comfort and solace in one of Mario's colorful adventures. That's the happy, heartwarming bit, but this being a Saints Row joint, you just knew things had to take a turn for the wacky at some point. Included in that $3 charity DLC pack are two new skins for the PC iteration of Saints Row 4, a metallic simian named Robochimp and Digital Dino, which is either a clear homage to Mechagodzilla or proof that creating robotic dragons is just too cool for any development team to ignore for long. Finally, the pack also includes a new vehicle, dubbed the "Retro Racer." It's not much of a vehicle, and looks like a cross between an amusement park ride and that bullet ship George Méliès shot at the moon in 1902. Still, in a world of weaponized dubstep and the vocal stylings of Biz Markie, this new ride barely registers as "quirky."

Saints Row 4's final DLC mission pack, "How the Saints Save Christmas," is available for download now on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The DLC includes three new story quests, a Christmas dubstep gun, a Red Rider BB gun (you'll poke your eye out) and some vehicles: the Flying Reindeer and Santa's Sleigh. In the story missions, the Saints aim to help Santa Claus, who has become trapped in The Matrix-like simulation that is the setting for the main campaign. Owners of the Saints Row 4 Season Pass can snag "How the Saints Save Christmas" as part of that investment. Everyone else can grab the DLC pack for $7.

A new slice of DLC for Saints Row 4 adds the Burch family, of Hey Ash Whatcha' Playin'? fame, to your crew. For $2.99 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, you can add Anthony Burch, Ashly Burch and their father, Papa Burch, to your stable of homies. While Papa Burch is best known for his appearances in the Hey Ash videos, Ashly is a budding voice actress who plays Tiny Tina in the Borderlands series and most recently signed on to lend her pipes to Scale, while Anthony served as lead writer on Borderlands 2. Saints Row 4 launched back in August. In our review, we thoroughly lauded the game for improving upon its predecessor in every conceivable way. "Volition's skill for building a living world, lovable characters and ingenious gameplay is as sharply honed as ever."

  • Telekinetic time bombs, airstrikes join Saints Row 4 in new DLC

Flight is passé and heat vision is so "Clark Kent," so what's an aspiring, super-powered world leader to turn to when expanding his or her arsenal? Explosions, lots and lots and lots of explosions. The Element of Destruction DLC pack adds three new abilities to the already ridiculous arsenal found in Saints Row 4. First, an attack that allows you to lift and throw enemies, only unlike your normal telekinesis, when you fling this hapless foe, the poor thing will detonate, doing damage to anything caught nearby. If you'd instead prefer to explode dudes up close and personal, the second power turns any enemy who gets too close to your character into a walking (and running and screaming) time bomb. Exploding jerks is all well and good, but the pièce de résistance for this DLC release is the Airstrike Stomp. Like the standard Stomp, this moves allows you to leap into the air, then come crashing back to earth, dazing nearby foes and sending them flying into the air. In any other game that would be enough, but the Saints Row series isn't known for its restraint: Those enemies might survive being propelled into the air, but they won't survive the ensuing rain of explosive ordinance. The Element of Destruction DLC pack is now available for Saints Row 4 at a price of $3.

Saints Row 4 developer Volition will drop some holiday-themed DLC on December 11. The "How the Saints Save Christmas" DLC pack sees Santa Claus trapped inside the Matrix-like simulation that is at the heart of Saints Row 4's campaign, and only the Saints can save him. But there's just one problem: the boss isn't fond of Christmas, despite the visible exuberance for the holiday demonstrated in the art above. The DLC will be available as part of the Season Pass or as a separate download for $6.99 on December 11. Check out the gallery below for more festive shots of the Saints and a snow-covered Steelport.

Now that ThirftyNerd has found Amazon's gaming lineup for its five-day Black Friday Deals Week, you can properly prepare for the dates and times you'll be sprinting through digital checkouts. The sale will run from November 25 - 29, with its first deal launching at 12:10pm Eastern Time. Unfortunately, the prices for each offer have not been shared, but they'll probably all sell out in minutes anyway. Because Black Friday. Amazon's November 25 lineup will include deals on Xbox 360 and PS3 copies of Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition, DmC: Devil May Cry and Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition. The Xbox 360 version of LEGO: Lord of the Rings will also be offered. November 26 will bring with it the Nvidia Shield, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Wii U, MLB 13 The Show and 4 GB memory cards for the Vita, and Xbox 360 and PS3 copies of Street Fighter X Tekken. On November 27, PS3 and 360 copies of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, Dead Space 3 and Remember Me will be available. Vanilla Resident Evil 5 will be up for grabs for Xbox 360 owners, but PS3 users will instead have a shot at Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. The Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition will also be offered, as will Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask for the 3DS.

Saints Row 4 will bring its bravado to Japan on January 23, 2014. Famitsu reports the Saints Row 4 Ultra Super Ultimate Deluxe Edition will include downloadable content previously released internationally, but we're following up with the game's publisher in the region to confirm specifics. "We won't even be finished with DLC releases in January, so it wont include all SR4 DLC," a representative for publisher Deep Silver tells Joystiq. "That edition is for Japan only since it is the Japanese release of the game." So don't go expecting a Saints Row 4 Ultra Super Ultimate Deluxe Edition with all DLC included hitting in North American or Europe. Well, at least not in January.

  • Saints Row 4 'Enter the Dominatrix' DLC gets freaky on Oct. 23 in UK [Update: Oct. 22 in US]

The "Enter the Dominatrix" DLC hits Saints Row 4 with a giant dildo bat on October 23 in the UK. Enter the Dominatrix is the first installment of the Saints Row 4 Season Pass, but it will also be available as a standalone purchase for GBP 6. The DLC includes an alternate Zin invasion storyline with the Saints trapped in a virtual world run by the AI program known as the Dominatrix – from there it's a battle to survive against sex workers and gimps. Enter the Dominatrix includes new weapons, enemies, allies and missions, and features behind-the-scenes commentary. Developer Volition will livestream the DLC on October 23 from 1PM - 4PM CT on Twitch. Enter the Dominatrix was originally planned as an expansion to Saints Row: The Third, and was expected to hit 45 days after Saints Row 4 launched. Turns out October 23 is 61 days after the UK launch on August 23. So close. Update: Enter the Dominatrix hits the US on Oct. 22 with a standalone price of $7. That's 63 days between full-game launch and DLC – if only Deep Silver had waited six more days.
