  • WoW Moviewatch: The Problem with Rogues

Admittedly, all classes have their oddities... but it's possible that rogues have more oddities than most. After all, how many other classes have an invisible friend/troll to call up for quests? It makes our rogue friends a bit hard to trust. (Well, that and the pickpocketing.) So can you (or should you) really trust that rogue standing next to you? Slightly Impressive tackles this particular issue with their latest machinima, "The Problem with Rogues." Of course, the only thing worse than having an imaginary friend/troll is arguing with your imaginary friend/troll. And the only thing worse than that is someone seeing you arguing with your imaginary friend/troll. Rogue life is full of challenges. Interested in the wide world of machinima? • WoW Moviewatch: Cataclysm in Reverse

Sure, the Cataclysm seems like a bad thing. Dragons, destruction, more dragons, more destruction... who wants that? (Or wants to clean up afterwards?) But if you tell the story of Cataclysm in reverse... suddenly you have the tale of the helpful (but mis-named) dragon Deathwing helping put out wildfires and rebuild a ruined Azeroth. Now that's the kind of happy tale we can really get behind -- and machinima-makers Slightly Impressive have stepped in to tell this important story of Azerothian history. (Or Azerothian un-history, as the case may be.) So if you want a happy story from Azeroth, this is one of the few. Just ignore the fact that it's fictional... or more fictional than the rest of the world. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! • WoW Moviewatch: Life in Draenor

We're all getting used to our lives in Draenor (in garrisons and out), and Slightly Impressive has put together a machinima that sums up the Draenor day-to-day, from mostly-safe in-garrison gathering to the dangers of garrison envy. But more importantly, this video raises a key question about the expansion: just how does Khadgar manage to show up everywhere with a problem for you to solve? It's a mystery for the ages! Instead of giving yourself a headache trying to figure it out, we'd recommend just watching the video -- or taking a nostalgic trip through WoW history with Slightly Impressive's other machinima. • WoW Moviewatch: MoP in Reverse

Slightly Impressive is back with a new machinima featuring the heartwarming tale of an orc named Garrosh Hellscream who saves the world and makes a huge, long-lasting impression on Azeroth. Or rather, this is the story of Mists of Pandaria told in reverse. Oddly enough, it's a much more uplifting experience than the actual expansion, which kind of ended on a melancholy note, although everything was wrapped up, taken care of, and generally put in some semblance of order. I'm not quite sure what I love best about this particular piece, because there were several stand out moments that made me laugh. As always, I'm a fan of his twisted view of Jaina Proudmoore, who makes another appearance here. But I think it's probably the unlikely singing that really got me, along with the slow realization that telling the story in reverse actually sounds more like a Thrall-style story than a Garrosh story. It's almost as if Thrall is Hellscream backwards. Who knew? If you liked this, don't forget to pop over and check out the rest of Slightly Impressive's work on his YouTube channel. • WoW Moviewatch: Forgotten Tiers Home For Retired Raid Bosses

Have you ever wondered what happens to raid bosses after their raid tiers are no longer current? Slightly Impressive speculates that there's a whole retirement home full of ex-raid bosses, where they play Hearthstone, compete at shuffleboard, and bicker a lot. But when Garrosh shows up, it turns out he's not quite ready for retirement because he has big plans to make a comeback in Warlords of Draenor. Will Garrosh manage to return to his former questionable glory or will he be back at Forgotten Tiers Home for Retired Raid Bosses, like Ragnaros, come the next expansion? Take our advice, Garrosh, and retire gracefully now. It will be better for all of us. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Whether you've never been to Ulduar but want the Ulduar experience or you have fond memories of raiding the place during Wrath, Ulduar Abridged is your machinima fix. It's not just a rundown off bosses, but a rundown of the conversations you would have had on Vent if you were running Ulduar when it was new. Brought to us by the fine individuals of Slightly Impressive, it's the latest in a series of similar raid videos, including Icecrown Citadel and Siege of Orgrimmar. So what are you waiting for? Let's get this nostalgia train on the road! Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? As we're all left floundering in the final throes of MoP, killing Garrosh with the same clockwork regularity you'd expect from Swiss watches, now's a good time to look back into the past and remember the interminable raids of yesterday. We spent so long in ICC that it was starting to feel like I married Arthas. Despite the fact we spent two years raiding ICC while waiting for Cataclysm, plenty of modern players weren't around for that raid. In a helpful attempt to catch up newer players, Slightly Impressive is busting out Icecrown Citadel Abridged. Take the time to check out the video and sigh impressively at the nostalgia. Siege of Orgrimmar Abridged features an epic battle to bring justice to Azeroth. Or something like that. Despite its thrilling story and exciting bosses, there were more than a few odd moments in SoO. Also, some of the bosses spoke a little too much truth. After all, you and I both know that some of your raid members maybe shouldn't really be there, right? Slightly Impressive to a bang up job highlighting those bizarre little quirks. Take the time to check out the video, and let us know in the comments if you shared Griff's experiences. We'd love to hear your story! Interested in the wide world of machinima? Nobody reports on the hijinks of in-game holidays like the Azeroth News Network, and it's time to take a long, hard look at the Midsummer Fire Festival. Shedding the harsh light of day on the spectacle and insane fires of the festival, Slightly Impressive's faux-news cast tackles the bizarre habit of standing by campfires during the hottest months of the year. We all know that there's a little surreality to all of the holidays, but the Midsummer festival has already made the least sense to me. Fire everywhere, in wooden cities, in the hottest days of summer. It just doesn't add up. But, still, who doesn't want to wear fiery braziers on their shoulders? Nobody wants an unsafe Azeroth. The spokesperson for the Azeroth Health and Safety Commision has a handfull of regulations that will help protect your characters from undue death. World PvP has been outlawed, which will probably have a painful effect on some servers. And really, who doesn't celebrate this needed hunter nerf? Slightly Impressive's 7 More Steps to a Safe Azeroth is a fun little bite to help get you through your day. I'm not sure this series can go very much further, but it's been fun while it's lasted. My hat's off to the team at SI, as usual. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? If you've ever fallen from the elevators in Shattrath, then you know how desperately important it is that we all follow Slightly Impressive's thoughtful 7 Steps to a Safer Azeroth. It can be a little tough sorting out what's true versus what's simply political rumor, but handrails in Thunder Bluff will probably save more lives this year than healers. This video represents some of the SI team's best ideas yet. It's hilarious and the animation perfectly suits the tongue-in-cheek subject matter. I love these guys. • WoW Moviewatch: The Oscars in Azeroth

Slightly Impressive never ceases to amuse me. This week, he's put together a look at the Oscars, Azeroth-style. Complete with the traditional red carpet interviews regarding fashion and the subsequent nominees and awards, The Oscars in Azeroth is a funny, well put together parody that hits all the right marks. For those that have been following Slightly Impressive's videos for a while, there's even a throwback to an earlier video with a rap battle that refuses to be forgotten. While I enjoyed the video, I have to say I disagreed the final winner of the evening -- the Paragons of the Klaxxi were robbed, I tell you. Robbed. Interested in the wide world of machinima? After being disconnected from the server, Slightly Impressive's intrepid time traveler returns to the icy lands of Northrend. In Back to Wrath 2, though, he visits the one of the most nostalgic place in Azeroth: Dalaran. Filled with clever pokes at afk players and gear score, Griff gets in a few pokes at people abandoning group queues. I certainly don't miss the instant requeues. But now the plot's stepped up a notch: the time traveler snags a past-person and drags them into the present tense. What's the first thing they see? Of course, a panda. I was glad to see a little more meat added to this series; it's a pretty good one, and I like where it's going. Though, they seem to have skipped Cataclysm. Not sure anyone cares. We're running out of expansions of yore for Slightly Impressive to visit. Back to Wrath is probably the best of what we've seen so far, though. After all, what was that entire expansion about if not foggy breath effects? Griff dates himself as beginning play in WotLK, and pleasantly gives a shout out to Back to the Future. Do you remember how every other character was a death knight? It seemed like everyone was either a death knight or a hunter. This video was decent, but it could have used a little more commentary about the game. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Last week, Grifter took an exciting trip back in time to visit the days of vanilla. This week, Slightly Impressive returns to the wild world of retro-gaming by visiting Outland. And, of course, our noble adventurer immediately runs into trouble when he goes Back to BC. I think it was well and proper that raid attunements were immediately mocked, though I was gratified to see the Fel Reaver laid low. Even though it doesn't quite feel right. I mean. The Fel Reaver should always be terrifying, even when we're level 200. Right? Okay, so it was still funny. Interested in the wide world of machinima? I'm not sure if Doc Brown would approve, but Slightly Impressive traveled in time to visit the fabled world of the past, going Back to Vanilla. The legend and stories of this mythical time inspired the intrepid explorer to talk to the natives and test the truth of their inimitable skill and unmatched knowledge. I especially liked the subtle critiques of our rose-colored glasses, the overhyped claims of leveling difficulty, and the infinite hypothesis that raids that were so much better. I enjoyed this story and I hope to see Slightly Impressive do a few more sequels. We definitely need a McFly reference, though. Interested in the wide world of machinima? This is the second time Simply Impressive is visiting YouTube in Azeroth. And frankly, one gag in this video makes it the funniest machinima I've ever seen. If you don't see the epic rap battle between Old Jaina and New Jaina, then you're missing out on all the fun. I mean, it's not the only joke. But Jaina made me laugh out loud. The Azeroth News Network: Love Is In The Air Special by Slightly Impressive spells out the inconsistencies and oddities involved in this February holiday. While the video is a tiny bit late for the real life Valentine's Day, there's still plenty of comedic value left for it in Azeroth. I've always wondered if it made me a creeper, sitting lonely in Dalaran and desperately begging strangers to have a picnic. But, hey, it's just an achievement. What's love got to do with it? It's hard to believe that Slightly Impressive is already up to episode 5 of Lowbies. When the guild master gets distracted by pet battles, the group of Lowbies need to tackle the decision whether to boost themselves up to level 90. As you might expect from a comedy series, all does not go according to plan. I think it's interesting that Griffter uses this video as a way to highlight some unexpected drawbacks to boosting a character. Presented with dozens of new buttons and skills, an eternal lowbie might not even know what to do at max level! Also, training can be problematic. And fishing. Fishing is always a problem. Slightly Impressive steps forward in time to brings us a vision of the next expansion (after that warlord one), named Winds of Murlockia. And while we've seen plenty of expansion parodies in the past, Impressive's nod to the soul-crushing history of raids gone by is appreciated. Oh, sure, rose colored glasses help us reminisce about week-long rep grinds, but I think we're better off these days.
