Chances are, you probably won't find this upcoming fan-made film adaptation of Tekken to be as titilating as Maxim's Tekken girls photo shoot. This impressive-looking fan effort, entitled Tekken: King of Iron Fist, will feature some pretty accurate cosplaying, mixed with some action sequences. From the looks of things, this may be better than "official" Ewe Boll-produced film massacres.[Via Gamespot]

According to GAF, Famistu is reporting that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection will be offered as a downloadable PlayStation 3 title. The PS3 version will be an arcade port (Dark Resurrection was also released on PSP) with new content, including a playable Jinpachi. The game will also be enhanced for high definition displays. Release date and cost have not yet been disclosed, though Dark Resurrection will almost certainly exceed Xbox Live Arcade's current peak price ($15). Still, Tekken 5 has a bit more to offer than the likes of Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat 3, no? Should Microsoft be concerned?

The once-exclusive PSP version of Tekken 5, entitled Dark Resurrection may be heading to the PLAYSTATION 3. According to Jeux-France, the latest issue of Famitsu details a potential HD version of Tekken: Dark Resurrection to be released through the online PlayStation Store. It appears that, like Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories before it, Bandai Namco is attempting to maximize the audience for this enhanced fighting game. No other details, like a release date, or a price, have been revealed. Will you feel burned again if this PSP exclusive heads over to another console... for less money? • PlayStation games for PSP now available for download

While we previewed it late last month, it's finally official: Sony has launched its downloadable PlayStation games service. Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America announced five titles that will play nicely on your PSP -- they include "Cool Boarders," "Crash Bandicoot," "Hot Shots Golf 2," "Syphon Filter," and "Tekken 2" -- however, Sony added in a press release that future titles would be made available later this month. These games will set you back a Washington and a Lincoln (that's $6, folks), but have to be purchased through the PlayStation store on the PS3, which probably is a bit frustrating if you already own a PSP but were sensible enough to avoid the PS3 insanity. Now if you'll excuse us, we have a grudge match to settle between Law and Yoshimitsu.

Just in time for next week's infamous Black Thursday, IGN has released its 2006 Holiday Buyer's Guide and has also added their 10 choices for PSP games that should fill your stockings this Christmas. That's if you've been a good boy or girl, because if you've been bad, you get Family Guy. Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception Daxter Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Killzone: Liberation LocoRoco Medal of Honor Heroes Mercury Meltdown Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror Tekken: Dark Resurrection What, no Sega Genesis Collection or EA Replay? And while Daxter is a very good game, I don't think too many kids will go Nintendo 64 Kid crazy over getting a game released in March. Still, this is a pretty decent list, and I can't argue with it too much. If you're PSP shopping for someone, you might want to refer to this list.

The PlayStation Store that'll be available on your fingerprint-covered PLAYSTATION 3 in a few weeks will feature PSone games for you to download and play on your PSP. Japan will have 9 games available at its launch: Bio Hazard Director's Cut (Resident Evil) BishiBashi Special Everyone's Golf 2 Jumping Flash! Konami Antiques MSX Collection Vol.1 Konami Antiques MSX Collection Vol.2 Mister Driller Silent Bomber Tekken 2 Strangely, no Ridge Racer (it was the first game to show off PSone emulation on the PSP). My personal picks have to be Resident Evil and Mister Driller (if the same games come out to America). According to Eurogamer, Sony plans on adding ten more games to the roster every month. That's about twice the content provided by Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays.[Via Joystiq]

Unfortunately, my beloved Aussies let me down this week by not buying enough PSP games like they did last week; none made it into the top 10. However, they still bought enough to have a top-10 PSP list. 1. Tekken: Dark Resurrection 2. GTA: Liberty Cities 3. Gangs of London 4. Star Wars: Battlefront II 5. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror 6. Daxter 7. WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 8. NBA Live 2006 9. NFS: Most Wanted 10. Burnout LegendsWell, it seems like the Aussies love their violence as the top-five games are all about hunting down and killing your opponent in violent fashion. You gotta love it!

Australia has given the world some really great things like Steve Irwin, kangaroos, Nicole Kidman and her first film - BMX Bandits, which just so happens to be one of my favorite childhood movies. So in honor of Steve, Nicole, BMX Bandits and kangaroos the world over, I bring you the Australian software chart.Top 10 games 1. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (DS) 2. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (GBA) 3. Kingdom Hearts 2 (PS2) 4. FIFA 2007 (PS2) 5. Lego Star Wars II (PS2) 6. AFL Premiership 2006 (PS2) 7. Test Drive Unlimited (Xbox 360) 8. SingStar Anthems bundle (PS2) 9. Tekken Dark Resurrection (PSP) 10. Saints Row (Xbox 360)It's nice to see a Tekken in the top 10 since PSP games haven't necessarily been tearing things up in Japan. However, it's clear that even the mighty Aussies have fallen victim to the disease that is Pokemon. Is no one safe?

Oh no, PSP Fanboy is using sex to promote its site again! It's true... they say that sex sells, and the people behind Tekken know it. For a Maxim photo shoot, they had some models dress up (or down) as Tekken models. Taking some inspiration from Dead or Alive, the photographers then placed those models under running water. The following video won't disappoint you... unless you're at work and your boss realizes what kind of pevert you are. So, I'm giving this an EXTREMELY NOT SAFE FOR WORK notice. Enjoy![Update 2: New PSP-compatible video and newly hosted video after the cut. Sweet, huh? (Streaming video coming soon. Sorenson isn't working, drats!)]

This is, like totally the most EXTREME version of the Video Sandwich, dude! In our first video, you see a skateboarder pulling off a trick with his PSP while boarding. You don't ever see Tony Hawk doing that these days. Pretty cool, huh?The bottom video features yet another one of the hilarious "Let Tekken Decide" advertisements. After seeing it, you'll be one of the few on this planet that can confidentally say you've seen an Asian pimp send someone to an alligator pit-of-doom. • McDonald's to host game tournaments in Dallas/Ft. Worth

McDonald's -- in what must have been pitched in a meeting full of McSynergy -- is sponsoring a series of "midnight" gaming tournaments in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. McDonald's has recently tried to attract gamers through DS Wi-Fi, Happy-Meal giveaways, and an ad campaign that looked a little too familiar to some. Of all of these things, we give McDonalds the most credit for hosting these game nights, speaking to gamers directly through controllers.Players can register online now to play each Saturday night in Tekken 5, Guitar Hero, and NCAA Football '07. The weekly tournament begins tomorrow and runs through mid-November, with single-elimination play between 9:00PM and 4:00AM. Weekly winners will net McPrizes totaling a few hundred dollars, including Best Buy and McDonald's gift certificates. They will also compete in the November 18 championship, where three players will win a thousand-dollar Best Buy gift certificate, Xbox 360, and more.Dallas and Ft. Worth gamers, represent Joystiq, and tell us how it goes. Just consider bringing gloves and/or bleach; those guitar controllers are going to be pretty McGreasy by the end.[Via: Adrants]

There's no better way to end a slow news day (ignoring the new MGS news) than with a hearty video sandwich. In this top video, we see someone fall victim to some shoddy Sony craftsmanship. While that might not be particularly noteworthy, this time around it is: because I think the girl's pretty hot. Why not find out for yourself, and if you feel sympathy for her inability to play Tekken: Dark Resurrection, you should send your PSP to her. I'm sure she'll appreciate it.The bottom video showcases one of the terrifyingly cute parlor games that you'll find in Japan. It takes 200 yen to play, and gives you the chance to win a PSP! OMG! Too bad I have no idea how the hell you "win" this game. Can you figure it out?

It seems like TV viewers across the pond always get cooler commercials than we do here in the States. For instance, take Namco's ad for Tekken: Dark Resurrection on the PSP which manages to be both memorable and funny, despite having less than two seconds of gameplay footage and only two words of dialogue: "You win!" Hopefully we can expect to see more ads like this one as Sony and Nintendo ramp up for their launch dates, and Microsoft throws something in the mix to keep up. Look for them this holiday season on a TV near you.Other notable game commercials:Xbox 360 "Jump In" promo wins AddyJapanese game commercials: you watched it, you can't unwatch itGrand Theft Auto: Coca-Cola CityPS-Peeing viral vid for Gangs of London [Via Digg]

It seems like Namco's marketing push for Tekken: Dark Resurrection's release in Europe extends far beyond silly videos involving disappearing milk. The Let Tekken Decide website is true to its namesake and lets you choose fighters to determine the winner of epic battles such as: Rock vs. Rap, Shampoo vs. Conditioner, Chocolate vs. Vanilla, Paper vs. Plastic, and more. Strangely, it doesn't feature any characters from the game, and actually has worse production values than a similarly-themed internet fan video from a few months ago.Due to harsh language, a not safe for work video is embedded after the cut.

This ad for PSP's Tekken: Dark Resurrection gets my vote as the best PSP ad ever. Of course, there really isn't much competition when all the other ads seem to be dumb, immature, racist, or feature way too much man-nudity. I don't want to say anything else, because the punchline works best when you don't know what's coming. Check out the rest of these ads by heading over to saveitfortekken.tv.

  • Tekken energizes Koreans

The PSP is surprisingly strong in Korea (most likely because Nintendo of Korea doesn't really exist). Not only do they giant PSP displays, they also get exclusive Tekken bundles. Now, they also get energy drinks. The "Enerzen" drink will proudly boast art from Dark Resurrection. I think they're trying to say if you drink their product, you'll be as buff as Jin. But be careful! If you drink too much, you might turn into the awfully stupid Devil Jin.[Via PSP Vault]

Your PSP is in need of a resurrection, ain't it? Was that too harsh? 'Kay, maybe just a lil' resuscitation. Uh-huh, admit it, unless you're a raving fanboy, the past four months, in terms of licensed game content, have not been kind to your Sony portable. Naysayers may write off Tekken: Dark Resurrection as another example of a popular PS2 franchise making the jump to PSP -- or worse, declare it 'just a Tekken 5 port.' Forget that. TDR is an enormous accomplishment in the portable fighting genre and more importantly, it's got your PSP's heart beating again. GameSpy (90/100) points out the game's most apparent flaw .... "it's that there are online features, but they don't include versus play over the internet." Games Radar (90/100) concludes that it's "oceanic depth" that makes this "the single best portable fighting game ever." 1UP (80/100) finds that despite a cheap end boss and d-pad issues, "Tekken: Dark Resurrection is one of the easiest games to recommend for the PSP."

  • IGN gives Tekken: Dark Resurrection a 9.2

While I don't think I'll be plunking down the $372 for the Tekken Gigapack, after reading IGN's review of Tekken: Dark Resurrection, I may have to pick it up. IGN gives Dark Resurrection a 9.2 as they annoint it as the best fighting game and arcade port ever on the PSP. They also go on to say it's one of the best games available across any genre. Dark Resurrection, which is basically an updated Tekken 5, sports tons of extra content in the form of "new customizable items, characters, environments, and other cool goodies. There are new ranks, new moves, new music, small interface enhancements, every character is available from the start ... you name it, it's probably in here." One problem I've always had with fighting games on portables are the controls. I can never seem to pull off moves very easily, and it seems the case is the same with Dark Resurrection. "The PlayStation Portable's directional pad makes it difficult to pull off moves that arcade and PS2 veterans might otherwise have no problem with." They go on to say most players will get used to the d-pad issue, but still, that kinda sucks. The good thing is aside from that and a couple other small complaints, there doesn't seem to be too many other faults in the game. So there you have it, one of the first reviews of Namco's latest fighting venture is out and it seems like it's a winner. [Via IGN]

As if we needed any! But in case you did, Gamespot has gotten their hands on the import copy of Tekken: Dark Resurrection, likely laughing their importing butts off thinking about how much fun they're having and how much we loathe them for being able to play the game. Like a gentle mother assuring her child that he can be whatever he wishes to be upon growing up, Gamespot soothes us by speaking of the game's astounding graphics and excellent control scheme, further cementing our maddening desire to purchase this game and, more than likely, call off from work for a day.
