It's nice when contests are simple and to the point. GamingTalkHQ is actually having a really cool Transformer Xbox 360 faceplate contest and all you have to do is leave the name of your favorite Transformer in their comments section. That's it. Well, probably a valid email address too so they can contact you back if you win. There are 4 Autobot and 4 Decepticon packs up for grabs and each one comes with 12 chrome interchangeable transformable faceplates. The faceplates would typically retail for about $20 at Gamestop and they are allegedly sold out at the moment. We want to win just so we can say, "See that Transformers faceplate? It's more than meets the eye." Autobots, roll out![Via Xbox360Fanboy]

Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, squirrels and hamsters, it's a big week for our beloved Xbox 360. Not only do we finally get to sample the heart-eating goodness of The Darkness (a game we're giving away, by the way), but we also have a plethora of other games arriving as well. In fact, there are so many games coming out this week, we're going to whip out (that's right) a bulleted list. Behold: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix The Bigs Hour of Victory The Darkness Overlord Transformers: The Game Ratatouille That's a lot of games. We're particularly excited about Overlord, which has been sitting patiently in our rental queue for some time. Are you planning on picking up any of these titles?

The fellas over at GamingTalkHQ are giving away a whole bundle of Transformers interchangeable faceplates for your 360 and so we thought we'd pass along the word. The faceplates include twelve interchangeable designs per pack (hence the transform reference) and come in two flavors; Autobots and Decepticons. To win, head on over to their site and comment on the post by Friday, when they'll choose four winners who'll win both Transformer faceplate packs. Long live the Decepticons!

There are 4 Transformers: The Game videos available on Marketplace. One of them is the opening cinematic of the game, whilst the other three are all interviews. The first interview is with the game developer itself, and the other two are with lead actors from the film, Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. Also worth noting is that in the text field that usually has some information like the developer or something above the file size is "<String text>". Very nice. Either way, the interviews vary from 67 to 94 MB a piece and the cinematic weighs in at 102 MB. Minor flub in the tagged information notwithstanding, are you interested in this movie to game adaptation, or do you think it will just end up as Achievement fodder?

The Achievements for Transformers: The Game have become available, although the vast majority have been hidden under the guise of Secret Achievements. The naming convention of the Achievements is following the trend of using humorous pop culture references. Our favourites is the Back to the Future reference in "We Don't Need Roads" or "Mad Skillz" for its unnecessary yet visually amusing "z". Either way, the game looks to be an interesting title, will you be checking it out?

When you hear Peter Cullen take his voice into that low, gravelly register and boom out "Autobots, transform and roll out!" as Optimus Prime, it's hard not to get goosebumps. At least, it is if you have any sense of nostalgia, consarnit. This video has a few looks at the upcoming Transformers game from Activision, and Cullen talks (briefly) about how he came up with the voice for a giant 18-wheeler robot leader, and some of his favorite lines from the show. Now, where's the Starscream retrospective and video documentary?

Hasbro has unveiled a series of "Real Gear Robots" as a tie-in to the Transformers universe. What caught our eye particularly is the POWER UP VT6 who, when not moonlighting as a Decepticon, spends its days as the hybrid of a Sega Game Gear and the bottom half of a Nintendo DS.At $6.99, we're pretty sure it's neither a functioning handheld game system nor a functioning micro killing machine. Drat.(Rest assured, our headline writer has been sacked. Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked, have also been sacked.)[Via Engadget]

Those of you not able to bust out your cardboard box Optimus Prime costume and make a scene at your local theaters next month when the new Transformers movie hits can at least comfort yourselves with the most amazing onslaught of merchandise tie-ins and cross-promotions we've yet seen out of Hollywood -- Hasbro's Real Gear line of bots are an Engadget editor's geeky wet dream mashup of gadgets and Transformers. See: Speed Dial 800 (pictured), which seems to have copped his look from a Star Trek, or Power Up VT6, which from what we can tell is the unholy marriage of Sega Game Gear and first-gen Game Boy Advance. • Nissan's Dualis mech caught on video

How do you sell a crossover SUV in Japan? Apparently you build a mammoth mech with wheels on his heels and let it have free reign in the city. Nissan is looking to hype up its Dualis vehicle over in Ginza by making appearnaces alongside the ride as well as blazing through parking garages and fuel stations. The black and silver machine was reportedly created by Shoji Kawamori, and will be on display at various locales in Japan from now until July 1st. Of course, this is marketing we're talking about, and this fellow can seriously fly on these "hidden camera captures," so feel free to click on through to see a few questionable videos of this 3.5-meter tall monster (supposedly) wheeling about.[Via PinkTentacle]

  • iPod transformer?

Imagine an iPod-shaped transformer that kicked butt and took no prisoners. That treat might await us in the upcoming Transformers movie according to iLounge. A 12-inch iPod supposedly turns into a "little killing machine", presumably scaring an entire generation away from MP3 players. Ethical considerations aside, that's a nice boost power-wise from merely damaging hearing when using unwise volume control. As for the picture here? It's the other kind of iPod transformer.

Yesterday, we showed you the box art for Transformers: The Game Cybertron Edition, though at the time we didn't have any further details other than how it will look on store shelves. Well, now we've got the rundown of what sets the CE apart. First off, it's exclusively available at EBStop, which could be another article on its own. The CE will also have two bonus "Cybertron" levels, one for Decepticons and the other for Autobots. The second DVD will come with Behind the Scenes interviews with Shia Labeouf, as well as the voice actors for Optimus Prime and Megatron, Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. Finally, a prequel comic book will be packed in the limited edition packaging, and you can have it all for the MSRP of $69.99. Do you think it's worth it?

Before the current console war raged on, there was an altogether different war: One waged on the planet Cybertron between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. Of course, with a cameo in the upcoming Transformers film and its very own collector's edition release (named after their planet of origin, natch), we're pretty sure we know who Activision thinks the Autobots are.But we know you're not content with mere proof of its existence, so peep the details of the EB Games / Gamestop-exclusive Transformer the Game: Cybertron Edition after the break:

This time, however, the headline doesn't fit the slogan's style. In all seriousness though, we've got the box art for both versions of Transformers: The Game, the standard edition that mirrors the movie poster, and the Cybetron Edition, that features the Autobot and Decepticon's respective logos, playing further into the choosing of sides that we discussed earlier today. So here's a different choice, fanboys, without any further knowledge on price or added features, which of these two versions will you pick up?

  • Transformers: prepare to choose your side

    David Dreger

    05.07.2007

First off, note that the headline is supposed to be read in the same tone as the "More than meets the eye" or "Robots in disguise" slogans. Planet Xbox 360 has a cool High Definition video about the choice in the upcoming Transformers game based off the film of ironically the same name. Either way, you've got a choice to make: Autobots or Decepticons? Whichever you choose, you'll still be able to wreak havoc in the destructible environments. So, we ask again: Autobot or Decepticon, fanboy?

"Choosing sides is just the beginning". Eh. I love practically everything about Transformers... except for those humans that insist on tagging along. What a waste of energy... Autobots don't babysit -- they kick ass. Mostly of the Decepticon variety. Still, I wish they stuck with the whole "more than meets the eye" slogan. Nostalgic, descriptive, cryptic? Anyway, this trailer should get you pretty excited for the game, if not the movie. The 'bots transforming is pretty excellent, although I'm not too sure how I feel about the redesigned robots. It's tough to tell who's who. Fairly sure it's Bumblebee versus... Megatron? in the video. Why the hell would Bumblebee ever try to fight Megatron? Because he's stupid.

The same folks that brought you the Optimus Prime iPod speaker dock are lobbying for your head-earned dollars once more, as Takara Tomy is betting that you just can't resist yet another Transformers gizmo to stack in your collection. This time it's throwing down a nifty set of morphing earphones, dubbed the Music Label Frenzy & Rumble, which boast a clip-on design coupled with a fold-out robot. Of course, we have sincere doubts about the sheer sound quality of these things, but let's be honest, you'll be listening a lot more intently to geeky comments as you stroll by than the LCD Soundsystem track quietly playing in the background. Start saving those pennies, fanboys and girls, as this treasure should land in the July timeframe for just ¥3,950 ($33).[Via TokyoMango]
