All eight episodes are live right now, so if you're not at the event it's a perfect time to kick off some binge-watching a week earlier than expected.

  • Veronica Mars Ultraviolet digital copies frustrate many backers, Warner Bros. offers refunds

After an instantly successful $5.7 million Kickstarter campaign the Veronica Mars movie has finally arrived in theaters and at home, but that doesn't mean all is well. Digital copies of the movie for backers were distributed using codes for Flixster, Warner Bros.' Ultraviolet-connected movie site/service. Unfortunately, many users had issues signing up for the often-convoluted Ultraviolet login process, setting up the Flixster software to stream or download the video, accessing a copy outside the US, or actually getting overloaded servers to work. There are some who flew through the setup without issue, but an update by series creator Rob Thomas directs backers with problems to contact customer support. They'll help get things working, or provide a refund for purchasing the movie on another service like Amazon or iTunes. On (the also Flixster-operated) Rotten Tomatoes, Veronica Mars is showing a 98 percent audience rating and 76 percent overall, so once fans can sit back and and press play, it appears they're liking what they see. Not yet familiar? An unaired version of the original pilot is available for free on iTunes, and you can get caught up on the entire series on Amazon's Prime subscription service.

Apple now has refurbished iPad Airs for $419 for 16 GB and $509 for 32 GB. As always, this comes with a year of AppleCare, new shell and a new battery. As 9to5Mac points out, Wal-Mart does have refurbished iPads for lower prices, but it doesn't come with AppleCare. Other news from Friday afternoon includes: A minor update to the Apple Store app includes in-store in-app notifications for the iPhone version thanks to iBeacon technology being deployed and gift-card purchasing for the iPad version. 9to5Mac noted that Serbia and Lebanon will be gaining the iPhone, along with Canadian carrier Vidéotron. Macworld has a great look at the release of the new "Veronica Mars" movie to Kickstarter backers and how it only made people even more angry with the UltraViolet distribution method. And kick back with these features: Titanfall developer wants to see game on OS X Here's a neat new physics feature in iOS 7.1 control center Is it too early to call Facebook Paper a failure? • Crowdfunded Veronica Mars movie will hit theaters and your living room simultaneously

It wasn't enough that the Veronica Mars film turned the standard studio model upside down by going to Kickstarter for its funds. Now word is that the feature length Kristen Bell vehicle will be available online to rent or purchase on the same day that it opens in 270 theaters across the country -- March 14th. Normally AMC (which owns 260 of those screens) requires that a movie not be available for home viewing until 90 days after its theatrical release, but Time Warner has found a way around that policy. Rather than doing a standard release and spliting the box office earnings with AMC, the company is simply renting out the theaters where Veronica Mars will be shown. That means that Time Warner is laying out a significant chunk of change up front to screen the film, but will pocket all of the cash from the ticket sales. That's in addition to a significant portion of the proceeds from on-demand rentals and digital purchases, which will mostly be delivered by cable and satellite providers. Don't expect this to become a standard model for movie releases, however. Time Warner views this primarily as an experiment that caters specifically to the passionate Veronica Mars fan base.

  • Secret Assassin's Creed plot slipped by Veronica Mars star

Speaking with IGN TV about her role in Assassin's Creed, Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell offered a surprising take on Ubisoft's upcoming title:"It's sort of based on the research that's sort of happening now, about the fact that your genes might be able to hold memory. And you could argue semantics and say it's instinct, but how does a baby bird know to eat a worm, as opposed to a cockroach, if its parents don't show it? And it's about this science company trying to, Matrix-style, go into peoples brains and find out an ancestor who used to be an assassin, and sort of locate who that person is."Huh? We thought Assassin's Creed was about the Third Crusade? Guess there is something to that mysterious 'after-death screen' (see video; jump to 5:35). Too bad Ubisoft was unavailable for comment.

How do you measure a game's success? Sales? Review scores? Combined worldwide playtime? All fine metrics, but to be truly successful, you need cultural impact. And what better indicator of cultural impact is their than a mention on prime time network TV (if you consider the CW a real network...).This is all an effort to add some sort of meaningful context to the below clip from last night's Veronica Mars, which includes a brief cameo by everyone's favorite guitar simulator. It may not compare to selling your company for millions of dollars, but it still must be cool to hear fictional college kids say your game rocks.

What we're watching: You know we're watching Lost, why even ask? King James and his band of merry men take on the Detroit Pistons at 8 p.m., unfortunately ESPN left their SkyCams at home. We don't usually watch Veronica Mars, but TVSquad says this is a great episode for new viewers to jump into the series on. Maybe its worth a shot at 8 p.m. on UPN as they replay last night's episode. We need a new Wednesday night fix since (after tonight) Lost is all repeats until May.Our traditional high-def listings continue below.
