  • Judgment generator is guilty of being awesome

Capcom is promoting its release of Gyakuten Saiban 4 (Ace Attorney) in Japan with a "judgment generator" video that anyone can drop faces and text into. The short clip's scene depicts a group of reporters waiting outside a courthouse as a man comes running towards them to announce the jury's decision. The verdict? That's up to you to decide! The prompts to enter text and upload/crop images are all in Japanese, but it shouldn't take you longer than a few seconds to figure out what's required. Why not mock up one of your own, and comment with a link to your video? You'll have to keep Japan's right-to-left text placement in mind and also compensate for the ten-character limit, but we're confident that you'll come up with something creative! We've already made a couple that you can see after the post break!

  • Will it Return?: Best Buy refuses to exchange blended camcorder

You gotta hand it to those sadistic bastards from Will it Blend?: not only have they struck viral marketing gold by playing to our innermost voyeurs, they clearly have a wicked sense of humor, as evidenced by their futile attempt to return the completely obliterated camcorder that got sacrificed in the last segment. Luckily for us, Team Blendtec decided to secretly tape their exploits (video after the break), and while the salesdrones do seem slightly shocked at the product and ridiculous story that goes along with it, they certainly do Best Buy proud by keeping their cool during a clearly provocative encounter. There's also a lesson to be learned here: not only does the regular manufacturer's warranty (and the BB return policy) laugh in the face of such situations, if you thought that the flimsy "extended service contract" you bought covers gadgets in powdered form, well sir, you'd be out of luck.[Thanks, El_Capitan]

  • Apple releases more WWDC 2006 videos on iTunes

Apple must be happy with having the WWDC06 video sessions available via iTunes for ADC members, as another set of videos has just been rolled out for developers. This latest collection includes: Graphics & Media State of the Union Welcome to Xcode Taking Advantage of Leopard Features in Cocoa Mac OS X State of the Union IT State of the Union But don't get too comfy with last year's programming; lest ye been living under a rock for the last year or so, we probably don't need to remind you WWDC07 is fast approaching, and more and more signs are pointing towards a debut of both the iPhone and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard - especially since Apple said the big cat is still on schedule.

  • New videos at Super Paper Mario's Japanese site

Nintendo of Japan has put up a teaser page for its next big Wii release, Super Paper Mario. Considering that the US release date (4/09) is a week and a half earlier than Japan's, we're not sure which to blame for why their official site came up before North America's -- our laziness or their industriousness.Along with the standard story and cast previews, there are three gameplay videos, with nine more promised. The movie clip showing what happens when Mario gets a star is definitely worth a watch. We've really grown fond of seeing the giant plumber kick aside warp pipes ever since he picked up the habit in New Super Mario Bros.Keep an eye on the site as there are still two unrevealed sections. With the game's release being only a few weeks away, they won't be able to hold onto those last bits of hidden info for too long!

  • iTunes creates new venue for Indy distribution

Variety reports that independent video producers can now sell through iTunes. The first indy video production, a 40-minute snowboarding feature, represents the first iTunes content outside the studio system. This opens doors for small business videographers to market their content and I suspect that video tutorials may be a big growth area for content. Let me point out that the video that debuted (it's called "That") is by no means an amateur production. It creates a new venue for distribution previously unavailable through video podcasting.

As we all know, the Burning Crusade cinematic does not contain any gnomes. One brave machinimist has now corrected this outrage, bringing us this cinematic intro to World of Warcraft: The Gnomish Crusade. One question, though -- at a few points in that vid, it really looked like one of the gnomes was a priest. She seemed to resurrect and cast Holy Nova. What's up with that? [via wowPaladin.org]

  • Nintendo Wii mashed with YouTube = WiiTube

We were playing around with Yaplet tonight, and by complete chance we ran into the whirlwind of energy that is Gary Vaynerchuck. He REALLY loves two things; wine and the Wii. He doesn't just love them, either ... he is extremely charged up about both as we found out firsthand.Gary runs a website called Wine Library, where he sells wine. He also runs a "vidcast" about wine called Wine Library TV, appropriately enough, where there are over 186 episodes (!) about wine. He's not some snobby "We serve no wine before its time" Orson Welles-ish character, instead he's a bit 'in yo face!' and Marv Albert about things. Of course, he's from New Jersey, so can you blame him? However, what's even cooler (and of more interest to you, dear readers) is the latest site Gary has co-founded called WiiTube. It's meant to be a social site for Wii owners, with profiles containing Wii numbers, and also a spot for people to come to share tips and tricks. Can't beat a certain boss? Post about it on WiiTube, then someone can upload a video on the site showing how it's done. The site is built around Opera and meant to look great with the Wii browser. They also collect the best Wii videos and game trailers from YouTube and link them all in one central location, so you don't have to go searching through YouTube on your own and sift through loads of spam vids and those bizarre Japanese entries that are impossible to read. Gary and his team will be giving away Wiis through the site very soon, so you might want to head over and sign up if you're interested in something like, oh not much ... just a free Wii. Plus some Wii-centric goodness for your Wii browser.

The internet may not be a series of tubes, but I know at least one site that is. Yes, YouTube, in conjunction with Intel, is running a WoW video contest called "Azeroth Exposed:" YouTube and Intel are looking for your funniest World of Warcraft® moments. Show us your biggest debacle. A PUG gone wrong. An amazing prank. And be entered for a chance to win an unbelievable gaming rig powered by the new Intel® Core™2 Extreme quad-core processor. It's time for you to expose the funny side of Azeroth. Oh, that's what they meant by "exposed?" Excuse me, I have to go put my character's clothes back on...Anyway, according to the contest page, submissions are open from March 1 through March 21, after which stage the videos will be voted on, with results announced April 26.

Need to replace your video iPod's LCD screen or faceplate? Looking to upgrade its hard drive or battery? A new website, ipodhowtovideo.com offers a number of free iPod how-to videos. These are clearly home-brew videos, but they provide well-paced step-by-step instructions and there's a refreshing lack of site-promotion in the videos. It's nice to be able to watch along with the narrative to see how the job actually gets done. I doubt I'm going to do any of these projects any time soon, but the videos made me want to go out and find a bunch of busted 5G iPods, just so I could try.

Here's a nine-minute mini-documentary on MMORPGs in general, with a focus on WoW. It attempts to investigate possibilities of addiction, effects on socialization, and the feeling most of us are familiar with that sometimes WoW is more work than play. This is perhaps not a piece that asks any new questions, but it's a nice summary at any rate. As far as addiction goes, I have to agree with Gamesfirst.com Editor in Chief Shawn Rider that talking about WoW and other MMOs in terms of addiction is generally "a way of hyperbolizing the situation to make it sound much more dramatic than it actually is." [thanks, Dave]

  • Tons of CES videos: XBLA, GHII, IPTV, more

Xbox.com has published several videos shot by Major Nelson at CES. Major takes time to check out Guitar Hero II, IPTV, XBLA, the HD-DVD player, and even takes a moment to chat with Peter Moore. We recommend the Guitar Hero II, IPTV, XBLA, and Peter Moore vids especially. The Guitar Hero II video will get you a glimpse at another 360 exclusive song from Pearl Jam (as well as a chance to watch Major Nelson try to play GHII and hold a mic at the same time). The XBLA video gives a quick look at Worms, Castlevania: SOTN, and Heavy Weapon. Players should be happy to know that Castlevania features an enhanced graphics mode (we're not sure which mode is used in the video though). Pause the XBLA video during the Worms interview to see the (rather anemic) selection of weapons. There are lots of videos. Hit the "read" link to check 'em out.Oh, and our condolences to the employees working at the Zune lounge.[Via Major Nelson]

    01.08.2007

Neither of these two are the greatest or best videos in the world. However, they do give us a look at the appearance of some upcoming gear that as far as I know hasn't been seen yet.First off, here's a showcase of what the poster is calling 'Dungeon Set 3', whose power at 70 is supposed to be analogous to what Tier 0.5 (a.k.a. Dungeon Set 2) is like at 60. The probable conclusion is that it is composed of mostly or entirely blues, not epics. The video has every set except Hunter (sorry!). Skip to 1:40 for the actual armor sets, unless you want to see some footage of flying mounts and some bits stolen from the Burning Crusade cinematic. Check here for stills, including the Hunter set (but not the Shammy one -- go figure).

For your late-night/early-morning/whatever-time-it-is enjoyment, I present to you the following sneak peak at the Tier 6 gear that awaits you in the expansion. Sadly, the Paladin set is missing from this video compilation, but the rest is sure to bring you joy. These all seem surprisingly class-appropriate to me (except the Hunter, but that's only to be expected). [Thanks, Bet]Previous Moviewatches

If you're just not satisfied with simply uploading your zany videos to YouTube, and don't want to wait around until next year to get a cellular version (or don't have Verizon Wireless), you should point your cellphone's browser to TinyTube. While not accessible from a non-mobile device (it's just YouTube content, anyway), the site provides a scaled-down version of the original for quicker loading and less strain on your wee resources, and offers up "low, medium, and high" playback settings to cater to varying connection speeds. So if you're the type who finds elation in instant gratification, and enjoy the freer things in life, hit the read link (with your handheld, of course) and head on over.

  • New Jeanne d'Arc trailer showcases gameplay

This new Jeanne d'Arc trailer shows a few of the game's 150 characters, some more awesome cut scenes and some mouth-watering grid-based combat action, which the first trailer lacked. If you've been stuck underneath a rock the past few months and don't know much about Jeanne d'Arc, the game takes place in a fictional world based on the true story of Joan of Arc. It will feature 40 to 50 stages and should take anywhere from seven to 25 hours to complete. The game should ship Nov. 20 in Japan and is currently not scheduled for a US release.

You might think that today's release of Guitar Hero 2 marks the official start of the race to master the game's new songs. But that would be naive. The real battle for Guitar Hero perfection started when the demo was released to the general public in Official Playstation Magazine issue 110. In honor of the official release of the game, we've scrounged up some highly-variable-quality videos showing off some people who are already on their way to true Guitar Heroism.

  • Videos of Leopard's 'live preview' in action

Musings From Mars has posted some revealing videos of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard's upcoming 'Quick Look' feature, which allows the OS to preview many different types of media, including audio and video, with unprecedented ease and power. MFM has created a YouTube playlist of three videos, all demonstrating different abilities of this new feature.Note that in the first movie, the Finder has an unmistakably different look to it, and this blogger would go so far as to wonder if it could be an early sign of an update to everyone's favorite file manager to hate. The second video demonstrates something peculiar that isn't quite apparent from simply watching it: once one video was playing in the preview pane, MFM began clicking on different videos in the Finder, which caused the preview pane to instantly start playing each new video, but picking up at the same point in the timeline - not beginning each video from square one. The third video is a basic demonstration of the preview pane's ability to preview movies even at full screen - unshackling Mac OS X users from the cramped chains of the Finder's tiny preview when in Column view. Now we don't have any way of verifying these videos, but if they are real, they're some appetizing examples of what is hopefully a shiny new Finder in Leopard. Thanks KurtUpdate: Leland, the author of the movies from Musings From Mars, stopped by to let us know that the interesting look of the Finder in the first video is in fact the work of Uno, and not evidence of a fancy new Leopard Finder.

  • Scooby-Doo! Who's Watching Who? gameplay trailer

myFlash = new FlashObject('http://www.gametrailers.com/umremote312.swf', 'swffile', 480, 409, 8); myFlash.altTxt = ''; myFlash.addVariable('mid', 13968); myFlash.write(); I've had a soft spot for Scooby-Doo video games after playing Scooby Doo Mystery on the Sega Genesis. It was a point-and-click mystery game that had all the charm of the cartoon and was an absolute blast to play. And just this week, Scooby-Doo! Who's Watching Who? was released, and I have to admit I feel bad about not giving it the attention any Scooby-Doo title deserves, so here's a nice gameplay video showcasing the game. While there hasn't been any reviews I've seen thus far, the game features: The ability to control the Mystery Machine for the first time; Original voice talent from the Scooby-Doo animated series; and Various styles of gameplay, including puzzle, driving and platform. Although most Scooby-Doo games this generation haven't received too many great reviews (Most range anywhere from high 60s to low 50s), this game seems like a lot of fun, and with it's budget-based price of $20, it makes my decision all the more easy.

Earlier today, we showed you a ridiculously long gameplay video for EA Replay's Syndicate title, and now Electronic Arts has released the game's features details.EA Replay will feature: Ad-hoc and head-to-head support for Budokan, Road Rash II and Mutant League Football; Mid-game saves that allow you to stop the action at any time; and Unlockable character collectable cards. While the collectable cards don't do a whole lot for me, I think the ad-hoc and mid-game save features are a very nice addition. However, would it be too much to ask for some infrastructure action?

If you're like me and are a huge fan of compilations, there isn't a better time to be a PSP owner what with EA Replay, Sega Genesis Collection and Metal Slug Collection on the horizon. We've already seen several videos of games in Sega Genesis Collection, and now EA has released gameplay videos of Road Rash 1, 2 and 3. I can't wait to get my hands on this game. Road Rash is one of my favorite old-school games. However, I must admit I thought Skitchin' was a far more interesting game, and I wish it were included in this compilation. Oh well, I guess I'll hold out hope for it in EA Replayed Again. Check after the jump to see the other two videos.
