Inkel IDS-1500 WiFi phone dock keeps the iPod in awkward company
You know how Apple products get when they're around their "lesser" consumer electronics counterparts at parties. It starts with a lack of eye contact and some foot scuffing, and ends badly with a scene in close proximity to the punch bowl. That said, Inkel's giving it a shot with this here IDS-1500 WiFi phone dock, which mixes an iPod dock with internet radio functionality and song playback through the phone. Not a bad combination in the least, so as long as the iPod steers clear of the alcohol. No word on price or availability.
Inkel's MU-D e-dictionary longs to be a real tablet PC
Not like we expect anything earth-shattering to emerge from Inkel's South Korean laboratory or anything, but surely it could do better than this. The awkwardly named MU-D (it's for Multimedia Dictionary, supposedly) does manage to include a DMB TV tuner for keeping you busy when not defining your life, but the whole swivel screen approach just seems... forced. Nevertheless, you will find a 4.3-inch 480 x 272 resolution panel, 4GB of internal storage, support for SDHC cards and an undisclosed price tag. Now, if only this thing could play Doom Portal.
Inkel's WideTouch W-700 series of 7-inch PMPs with GPS
Korea loves 'em some 7-inch all purpose media players. Here's another, the W-700 series from their homegrown Inkel. We're talking DMB, SiRFstar III GPS with real-time TPEG traffic data, and all the media your person can set dancing on that Samsung 800 x 400 pixel display. Under the hood you'll find WinCE 5.0, 128MB of memory, and a dual-core processor to keep applications and media snappy. Prices start at ???470,000 or about 500 US bucks.
Inkel's portable AirwayHD tuner compresses files on its own
Granted, portable OTA tuners are a dime a dozen these days, but an interesting twist has been introduced by Korea's Inkel. The AirwayHD manages to boast a diminutive size while internalizing the process of converting OTA streams into manageable files using the H.264 codec. Reportedly, the device can compress files to one-fourth of their original size without any PC software intervention, and it should make life pretty easy for those hoping to view recorded content on their portable media player. No word on a release date just yet, but it'll only run you about ???100,000 ($106) when it eventually lands. Check out a few more pics after the break.
Inkel's WIDETOUCH 5.6 does navigation and multimedia
We see a lot of GPS-enabled foreign PMPs pass through here, but rarely are they being pitched by a mascot quite as appealing as Inkel's Starfox-meets-Robin Hood spokesperson. Available in black or white, the WIDETOUCH 5.6 features -- you guessed it -- a 5.6-inch widescreen LCD for navigation and media viewing, 400MHz Samsung ARM CPU, and built-in DMB receiver on select models. That digital TV option hikes the price up to almost $600, but since this model will only be sold in Korea, things like pricing and availability probably don't matter much to you.
