Capcom recently held an event in Japan to celebrate the launch of the Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition DLC pack. There it revealed new costumes for the recently added fighters Yun, Yang, Oni and Evil Ryu, dubbed the Arcade Challengers Pack. These outfits will include each fighter's arranged outfit for the arcades, as well as a custom costume designed specifically for the console DLC. The costume pack will be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 on July 5 for 320 MS Points ($4). On top of that, Capcom talked about an improved version of its iOS port, which is currently on sale for a buck on iTunes. Street Fighter IV Volt: Battle Protocol will release sometime in July -- Volt will sport WiFi multiplayer and three new characters: Balrog, Cody and Vega. A total of 17 characters will be playable in Volt. %Gallery-127046%

  • Deal of the Day: PS3 40GB for 230 [Update]

It's interesting, now, to look back on the PS3's troubled first year. People complained that it had no games (a criticism only the criminally insane would dare make nowadays), that Blu-ray wasn't a proven format (which has since been proved) and that the price was too high. Now, however, Play.com have dropped the 40GB PS3 to its lowest price ever, beating out the competition by £70. You can head on over to the site right now and pick one up for only £230. That includes free shipping. Bargain! It's worth noting that the Xbox 360 Elite currently costs £250 on the same site, so there's no contest between which is the better deal. We expect people to jump at this price, so if you're on the fence (and a UK resident) now might be the perfect time to re-evaluate a purchase.[Update] Looks like this was a mistake! Play.com has updated the price to £289.99. Looks like it really was too good to be true. [Thanks Wilester]

  • Japanese mobile game rewards players with real fish

It used to be that just getting a high score was the be all and end all of game accomplishments. More recently, amassing Achievement points became the all-consuming passion of gamers. Now even that seems passé as a new Japanese cell phone game rewards played with real, raw fish delivered right to their door.Ippon Zuri ("pole-and-line fishing" in English) lets DoCoMo users in Japan's Fukuoka area set bait, cast their lines and wait for the virtual fish to bite. When they do, a slot machine game appears and, if all three numbers match up, the fish is caught and, as Pink Tentacle describes it, "a message is then relayed to the wholesaler, who picks up the real-world equivalent from the local seafood market and delivers it, whole and raw, to the player's doorstep." Kind of reminds us of Activision's Atari 2600 badge program, except updated for the new millennium ... and with raw fish!We think this is a great idea, and can't wait for the concept to be applied across the gaming world. Win a real trophy for success at virtual sports games! Win real cash for success at virtual game shows! Win a real disembodied skull for success at a first-person shooter! Er ... scratch that last one.[Via BB Gadgets]

  • Wonka offers up candy-packed WonkaZoid handheld

We've never been ones to need much motivation when it comes to wasting hours on end playing handheld games, but just in case you're down with doubling up on your fun, Wonka Candies has unveiled the WonkaZoid portable. With four renditions -- each sporting a built-in game, sweet (ahem) sticker packs to pimp out your machine, and its own variety of treats -- the device boasts massive side compartments perfect for stashing away stacks of SweeTarts or Nerds, not to mention providing a precision grip for your sure-to-be-sticky hands. You can get your game on with Shockball Showdown, Oompa Candy Flip, Nerds Hockey, and Freeze Tag, and provide loads of additional work for your dentist all the while. So if you missed your chance to snap up a next-generation console during the pre-order bonanza, and you're not exactly keen with quitting your job to wait in line (or pay a 500 percent markup on eBay), maybe these lil' $5 to $7 gizmos will numb the pain -- but we seriously doubt it.[Via CrunchGear]
