Did Apple manage satisfy your cravings for a new iPad? Maybe that new Mac Pro has got you readying a preorder, if only for the illusion of the power user that you one day hope to be. After a year's break, the return of Nokia World coincided with Apple's soiree, but the Microsoft-aligned phone maker actually had more new hardware to show off, including a pair of new Windows Phones, its first Windows tablet and a brimful (that is, three) of Asha phones. Leaf the digital page over to see both events reprocessed, vitamin-enriched and in numerical form.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. Welcome to this week's After Math, with Nokia and T-Mobile both holding New York-based events for their future plans. The US carrier continued to roll out its Magenta-hued LTE service across America, while Nokia finally revealed the long-rumored (and often-leaked) Lumia 1020, which brings its high-megapixel-count sensors to its Lumia line -- a true PureView Windows Phone. All this in numerot (that's Finnish for numbers), right after the break.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. During this Independence Day-tinged week, the Engadget team has been peering into the past, present and future of manufacturing in the US. We touched on the implausible costs of a real-life Death Star, how to educate kids in code and the finer points on bringing more tech manufacturing to America. Europe also gets a brief nod, as the EU announced the first wave of substantial roaming cost-cutting across the continent, making several of our often in-transit UK editors very happy indeed. We've got a list of notable numbers right after the break.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. In recent weeks, we've covered BlackBerry, Google, Nokia, Apple, Sony and (at least gaming-wise) Microsoft, but this week, the Redmond company returned to dominate tech news, showcasing a new version of Windows 8 (and RT) at its annual Build conference. It's tried to fix some of the operating system's early criticisms and make it all a bit more accessible. They even threw in a Start button -- of sorts. Meanwhile, Sony set jacket pockets quivering, announcing its new 6.4-inch smartphone (that's not a tablet), replete with arguably the most powerful mobile processor out there. For a numerical breakdown of the week's news, follow us after the break.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. It was a week where Engadget somehow managed dueling liveblogs. Apple revealed its new mobile operating system, while Microsoft revealed more of its plans for the Xbox One, kicking off a week of gaming news from E3 2013 in LA. Sony soon followed, showing off its console for real, and pricing it a hundred dollars less than Microsoft's next-gen console. Sure, the war isn't over yet, but Sony can arguably claim victory at this year's Los Angeles battle. So let's talk numbers, right after the break.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. The launch of the Xbox One may be behind us, but we still have plenty of numbers to crunch. Speaking of ones, this week we saw a record-setting auction for an old Apple 1, a multi-tabbed refresh of our inbox and the release of Mary Meeker's annual Internet Trends Report. Add to that some big names taking the stage at D11, an anti-graffiti drone and a rather bizarre-looking harp, and you have this week's After Math. Join us after the break for the digits.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. We doubt you missed it, but Microsoft unveiled its new games console this week, and it even showed off some Xbox One hardware to prove it. While the new name is offering casual gamers a bit of confusion -- Google "Xbox One" for a taste -- the specifications sound like they could make for one very potent console. Billions of transistors? We're just hoping they ensure there's plenty of Covenant to shoot in the requisite Halo sequel. There was a very heavy focus on TV, Call of Duty and sports games, so plenty of big-hitter titles to get excited about. But numbers and decimals make us just as happy, so join us for plenty of 'em after the break.

A new Lumia phone from Nokia, this year's Google I/O and BlackBerry Live -- yep, it was a pretty hectic week for us, but also a good seven days for tech news. Even if Google didn't have any truly new hardware for us, it's started up its own on-demand music service, gave us more details on Google Glass, redesigned its Maps and, well, it was a very long keynote. Join us after the break for a numerical breakdown of that and the rest of the week's big news.

A thoughtful, moody video featuring the dulcet tones of Alice Cooper? What's not to love about the new video Aftermath? Created entirely from in-game graphics, the authenticity and solid pacing of the video provides a solid new entry by PallyPowerXIX. The video felt a teensy bit long to me, but that's a common challenge to be tackled in any dialogue-less story. The creator did a decent job tackling it, I just look at 7 minutes as being a big number for a machinima. Your mileage will vary. All in all, I was very satisfied by Aftermath. The video did a superb job of knowing itself and its limitations, and told its story within those lines. It's good proof that this in-game & music-only technique can be successful if you take the time to think through your plot. Very nice job.

  • The After Math: The (homemade) hammer of Thor, Virgin space flights and an atomic movie

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. This week's After Math appears to have taken on a comic book theme. Want to make your own Thor hammer? How about your very own Atomic Watch -- rather than those radio-wave-based excuses of a timepiece? We've also got the very real prospect of civilian flights to outer space and, er, Kobe Bryant advertising Lenovo smartphones. Stranger things have happened, right? Join us after the break.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages We've been getting our first unfiltered experiences with Google Glass this week, which makes it the perfect time to go over some of the salient points up until now. At the same time, Apple sold more hardware, more apps and made even more money -- it was largely another good quarter for the Cupertino coffers. Add in a million-second game show and there are more than enough numbers to play around with in this week's After Math.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages As we scratch our head and puzzle over the almost-daily financial results for the last quarter, this week's missive takes a slightly sentimental look at how two tech companies were faring a decade earlier. Is it unfair to compare the yesteryear Nokia to Google? Possibly. But it was the same year that a certain Engadget regular claimed a best-selling album -- so it wasn't all bad. Toshiba also unveiled a new pin-sharp Ultrabook to stand up to Apple's Retina displays, and NASA continued the search for habitable planets.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages In a bid to neatly wrap up this week's events, we gaze at some high-priced 4K gear at NAB 2013, figure out whether we can physically... pocket either of Samsung's Galaxy Mega variants and think about lasers: sometimes beautiful, sometimes deadly and sometimes fighting the future war against drones. We've got the numbers -- and a few dollar signs -- right after the break.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages It's finally Friday, and while the week kicked off with one too many April 1st efforts, the big news for TAM this week is a release date for the Netflix-exclusive fourth season of Arrested Development. Nothing else should matter, but if you think it does, Facebook finally showed off their new game plan for mobile and HTC appeared from the sidelines with a new phone to house it. According to some, Windows Phone has also started to claim a less embarrassing share of the smartphone market too. We crunch and spit out the numbers after the break.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages This week, there's been a mixed bag of interesting news numbers, from T-Mobile's New York event and the company's new perspective on the phone network business, to San Francisco (again) for the Games Developers Conference. We also got to take a look at BlackBerry's first financial results since the name change and its BB10 launch.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. Last weekend, we wrapped up our inaugural Expand event, and while several of our international editors (yours truly included) are still battling an unhappy combo of jet lag and the sniffles, we've pulled together some numbers that should offer at least a glimpse at how the weekend in San Francisco all went down. What if you missed out on all the tech, discussions, Engadget editors and giveaways this time? We wouldn't worry. Next stop, New York.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. In this week's After Math, Google got stung for its Street View WiFi mishap, Samsung revealed what is likely to be its best-selling phone (again), while the new Digital Public Library of America received a huge donation from the US National Archives. We're getting things ready for Engadget Expand this weekend, so expect a special edition TAM next week. We hope to see plenty of you at the event -- we'll be there.

  • Gears of War: Judgment's 'Aftermath' builds a bridge to Gears 3

    03.04.2013

Gears of War: Judgment will have a special unlockable mini-campaign taking place during the events of Gears of War 3, called Aftermath. The Aftermath campaign is an epilogue to Judgment's main story, centering on Baird, Cole and Clayton Carmine's mission to track down reinforcements before the COG invade Azura during Gears of War 3.Senior producer at Epic Games, Alan Van Slyke, says the choice to include Aftermath is two-fold. "Aftermath is two things. One, for the Gears 3 fans who wanted more traditional Gears 3 content, it's there to satisfy them," he said. "Two, I think it gives us a chance to bookend the trilogy, so we have Cole and Baird leaving to go get reinforcements at the end of Gears 3 and we're able to build upon that. So it gives Judgment this nice additional content to be able to bookend the trilogy with something that happened right after Emergence Day prior to Gears 1, and also plays off of the traditional Gears 3 content."Aftermath will be unlocked after players compete the main campaign in Gears of War: Judgment.

Welcome to The After Math, where we attempt to summarize this week's tech news through numbers, decimal places and percentages. Barcelona's Mobile World Congress may have formed the backbone for this week's news but there was also notable news elsewhere -- like the fact that Boston Dynamics' upgraded quadruped robot can now throw cinder blocks. We'll be sticking closer to the (safer) events in Spain, however, so take a look for yourself after the break.

The big story of the week, no, month, is Sony's next-generation console, the PlayStation 4. Well, the company didn't show us the physical box itself and instead chose to detail a new DualShock controller, some not-hugely-specific hardware outlines and titles we can expect to see (in some form) on the fourth generation PlayStation. As Pythagoras said: "Number rules the universe," and the After Math prefers it that way. Find some of those numbers after the break.
