PlayStation Classic owners: Write your own review!

If you missed our PlayStation Classic review back in December, here is the impression it left with editor Devindra Hardawar: He found the controllers cheap and the emulation inconsistent, concluding that overall it "feels like a mistake." Ouch. In the end we did not find PlayStation Classic to be a fun throwback or even a worthwhile purchase at all. Therefore, it was awarded a shin-kicking score of 67. And, given the reaction from the commenters on that review, a lot of you were disinclined to let the $100 system anywhere near your TV.

Yes, we know: We're a little early here. Some would say the appropriate time to talk about the holiday shopping season is no earlier than Halloween; purists would argue we also have to get through Thanksgiving first. Rest assured, we're not here to rain on your pumpkin spice lattes, or whatever it is you enjoy about the fall. For now, just a heads-up, we're looking for your trickiest shopping questions. How to shop the tech-toy aisle for someone else's kid? Which fitness tracker to buy when they all look the same? Which media streamer will have the easiest learning curve for your parents? Just email us at ask@engadget.com and we'll answer your questions starting in November.

We truly value the time and detail you all spend in responding to questions from your fellow tech-obsessed commenters, which is why we've decided to bring back the much-missed "Ask Engadget" column. This week's question asks about how to keep smartphones squeaky clean and sanitized. Weigh in with your advice in the comments -- and feel free to send your own questions along to ask@engadget.com! I'm a medical student, and I'm in and out of different hospital and clinic rooms. The reality is, students and doctors all have their phones will them pretty much constantly: in pockets, in use throughout the hospital, and with or without gloves on. When I think about it, it actually can be kind of gross. My question is: What smartphones and smartwatches are easiest to clean effectively, or what accessories make it easy to sanitize or otherwise protect them? Of course, it would be nice if they also looked good (because why buy the new iPhone if you're going to put a clunky case on it, right?).

Weigh in with your advice in the comments -- and feel free to send your own questions along to ask@engadget.com! I'm shopping for a new Windows 10 laptop or 2-in-1. Given the small size screen, I'd like to connect it to a large monitor, keyboard and mouse on my desk. Can you discuss things a buyer should consider to make this work well? I'm thinking of concerns such as matching screen resolution, touchscreens, single-cable connection and ports (e.g., USB 3.0, USB-C, SD card reader, laptop power, charging).

How much laptop does a college freshman need? What's the quickest way to learn Photoshop? Is it worth having a TV in my dorm room? Ask Engadget gets a lot of emails -- and more than a few of them are questions about products. Think: What should I buy? Which product will work best for me? Which ones will last the longest? Now we're looking to hear from students, parents of students and maybe even some teachers too. If you're at all unsure about what to buy or how much to spend, shoot us a note and we'll answer as many of your queries as possible sometime this summer, once back-to-school shopping season is under way. Send your questions to ask@engadget.com and get a mix of answers from our staff and the rest of the Engadget community. (And if you have a non-school-related question, feel free to send that in too! We'll still be doing a monthly column leading up to, and after, our back-to-school special.)

Ask Engadget: What's the best way to unify my music collection?

The support shared between readers in the comments section is one of the things we love most about the Engadget community. Over the years, we've known you to offer sage advice on everything from Chromecasts and cameras to drones and smartphones. In fact, our community's knowledge and insights are a reason why many of you participate in the comments. We truly value the time and detail you all spend in responding to questions from your fellow tech-obsessed commenters, which is why we've decided to bring back the much-missed "Ask Engadget" column. This week's question revolves around creating a master music collection from a variety of sources. Weigh in with your advice in the comments -- and feel free to send your own questions along to ask@engadget.com! Regardless of format, I have long been a music collector. In the 80's I had a cassette collection in the hundreds, and in the 2000s my CD collection amounted to thousands of discs. Currently, my listening habits are split between iTunes (where I have roughly 80GB of my CD collection) and Spotify (where I have over 100 playlists); iTunes has all my older music, while the Spotify playlists contain all the newer stuff I've been checking out. Obviously, I don't own those songs on Spotify and therefore, they're not backed up anywhere. I hate the idea of "losing'" all my music on Spotify. Ideally, I'd like to have everything in one place, but I'm unsure of the best way to do that. So, my question is two-fold: One, is there a way to have my digital collection in the same place I stream from? And two, how does one consolidate and back up their collection in the era of streaming services?
