The Television Academy has revealed this year's Emmy nominations and to absolutely no one's surprise, Game of Thrones scooped up the most nods with 32, including Outstanding Drama Series and 10 nominees across various acting categories. The show with the second-highest tally of nominations is Amazon Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20. It won several awards last year, including the top Outstanding Comedy Series prize. It's nominated again in that category.

Apple's Carpool Karaoke: The Series was apparently enough of a hit to greenlight a second season, which will also only be available to subscribers of its Music service. But to hype its next episodes, the tech titan is releasing the entire first season for free. The only catch? You'll have to watch them on Apple's TV app.

Born out of a recurring sketch appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Apple's Carpool Karaoke: The Series seems to be resonating with subscribers of Apple Music. Today during an investor call, CBS (the producer of the show) announced the show would return for a second season.

Apple reportedly delayed 'Carpool Karaoke' due to foul language

When Apple delayed the release of 'Carpool Karaoke,' it wasn't very clear on why. According to a report at Bloomberg, though, the tech titan had to edit and shoot additional episodes because the ones that were ready had too much "foul language and references to vaginal hygiene." We're not sure why Apple thought a show featuring celebrities and comedians driving around Los Angeles would be squeaky-clean, but there it is. We've reached out to Apple and will update this post when we hear back.

Fans of Late Late Night's "Carpool Karaoke" have a lot to look forward to. Apple's newly-acquired exclusive series has been planned for a while now (though it's already been delayed ), and will include celebrities like Ariana Grande, Will Smith, Alicia Keys and Metallica. Even with the possibility that Corden may not host, the fun-filled, joyous tone of the show shines through in the first trailer. Today, Apple's own senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue, tweeted that the show's popular sing-along musical series will show up August 8th on Apple Music.

James Corden's viral-friendly Carpool Karaoke videos have given The Late Late Show exposure well beyond it's timeslot. Now CBS wants to squeeze out a little more of Corden's magic by giving the singing Brit his own (fictional) competitive reality show called James Corden's Next James Corden, in which fake contestants compete to (eventually) take Corden's job. But the show won't be on CBS or All Access when it arrives this fall -- instead, James Corden's Next James Corden will be headed straight for Snapchat Discover.

We know all about Apple's plans for Planet of the Apps and Carpool Karaoke, but it looks like the company has bigger things in mind for its music-focused series. Bloomberg reports an Apple Music redesign will accompany the next version of iOS we're likely to hear about at WWDC in June. The new look is said to do a better job of showing off video, a format Apple has big plans for moving forward.

Apple had indicated that its first video series for Apple Music would arrive in April, but we're almost into May and Carpool Karaoke is nowhere to be found. According to Reuters, a March premiere party was postponed 'days' before it was going to take place, and then a launch party scheduled for tonight was also canceled. Now, both Apple and CBS are merely saying the Late Late Show spin-off will premiere "later this year." Of course, even if it gets pushed back, subscribers always have Planet of the Apps to uh... look forward to.

It's been six months since Apple acquired the keys to the viral juggernaut that is Carpool Karaoke. In that time, we've learned that the iPhone maker plans 16 half-hour episodes that will include celebrities like Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, John Cena and Will Smith, but there's been little talk about how it will stand alone from the original Late Late Show segment. Thanks to a new trailer, we now have some idea of the route Apple is taking: much of it is staying the same, but an Apple budget will also take the series in a couple of new directions.

We still don't know exactly when Apple Music's version of a popular Late Late Show segment will debut, but we do know some of the singers who will appear on it. During the first batch of 16 half-hour episodes of "Carpool Karaoke," Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Blake Shelton, John Legend, Metallica and Will Smith will all take a ride with rotating hosts. That's right, different people will be behind the wheel during the course of the first "season."

Apple Music signs up 'Carpool Karaoke' as a new show

On The Late Late Show with James Corden the "Carpool Karaoke" segment has seen visits from a number of celebrities, and now Apple wants in. It's signed an exclusive deal with CBS to produce a 16 episode series where celebrity guests ride along with the host (still TBA), visit "meaningful" places, sing songs and surprise fans. This is apparently the kind of thing Eddy Cue meant when he said Apple was only interested in developing content that could be complementary to Apple Music.
