It's a subtle pleasure, but not needing to plug cables in to charge your phone is a beautiful thing. If you have a smartphone that supports the Qi wireless standard (or an adapter), you can simply plop it down at work, near your bed or wherever you have a charger handy without thinking about cables. To promote this state of technological zen, UK-based Fonesalesman has been providing a variety of Qi charging solutions, from its eco-minded WoodPuck model to its portable and powerful QiStone+ version. Right now, the company is also running an Indiegogo for its newest product, the FurniQi table. It offers a minimalist design and a Qi charging zone embedded in the water-sealed bamboo tabletop. This week, two lucky readers will win the whole set including the table and two individual chargers. All you need to do is head to the Rafflecopter widget below for this wireless charging package from Fonesalesman. Winners: Congratulations to Chad Z. of Mukilteo, WA and Madison D. of Lebanon, NH!

  • NASA enlists student help with Mars mission design challenge

Are you a college student? Want to be a part of NASA's mission to send astronauts to Mars? Well, you're in luck. The space agency has announced the Breakthrough, Innovative, and Game-changing (BIG) Idea Challenge that aims to get design help from university students. The challenge is to create a solution for slowing NASA's massive payload with inflatable spacecraft heat shields or hypersonic inflatable aerodynamic decelerator (HIAD) technology. While NASA managed to successfully land the Curiosity rover on Mars, a spacecraft with a crew on board would weigh between 15-30 tons -- slightly heavier than the rover's one-ton load. Couple that weight with the planet's thin atmosphere and you can understand why NASA needs to develop a new system to slow the vehicle's approach. What's more, NASA hopes that the HIAD tech could be used on other missions, too.

  • Amazon Prime Now includes delivery from local restaurants in Seattle

Seattle may have received the invite to Prime Now's one-hour delivery service a bit late, but Amazon is offering customers there another feature: restaurant delivery. The service can bring you food from participating restaurants, so long as you're situated inside a part of the city where it's available. Via the Prime Now website, folks in Seattle can input their zip code to see if they'll be able to have food delivered in a hour or less. Through the Prime Now mobile app, hungry customers can also browse the list of available restaurants and peruse menus before placing an order. This isn't the first time Amazon has tackled restaurant delivery, though, as the retailer tested dropping off takeout through Amazon Local last year. If you're looking to give the new option a go, you'll be able to pay for meals using your data stored on Amazon and the company is waiving the delivery fees "for a limited time." 08.13.2015

NASA has launched a contest to design a smartwatch app interface for use by International Space Station (ISS) astronauts. Nobody will be entering it for the $1,500 prize money, but you'll certainly get some pride and fame out of it. The app will be no less than "the general user interface for smart watch applications" aboard the ISS, according to NASA. As such, it'll need a lot of different functions: A "Crew Timeline" app for astronauts' agendas; a "Cautions and Warnings" app; another to check the communications status with Earth; and a timer "for procedures or until next activity."
