It seems fans of Persona 5 who were hoping for a Nintendo Switch version might have made their wish on a monkey's paw. While PlayStation 4 owners are getting an expanded edition of the RPG, Switch owners will have to make do for now with Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, which is a crossover from Persona developer Altus and Dynasty Warriors studio Koei Tecmo.

PC-only gamers haven't been able to enjoy Dynasty Warrior 8's hectic, definitely-true-to-history battles between ancient Chinese kingdoms, but Tecmo Koei is about to fix that. The publisher is bringing Omega Force's DW8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition to Steam on May 13 in North America and Europe. The Complete Edition bundles the base game of DW8 with its Xtreme Legends expansion, which adds new characters, story episodes, weapons and enhancements to the Ambition, Challenge and Free modes. Complete Edition's minimum requirements call for at least Windows Vista, with 512 MB of RAM, a VRAM 256MB video card and an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.4 GHz (or Intel Core i7 860) rounding out base requirements. Support for gamepads will also be present, as will be support for DirectX 9.0c. [Image: Tecmo Koei]

Popular franchises have been known to jump between various entertainment media, from games to television to movies to comic books and even to pogs. We should not gasp in utter amazement that this is also the case with many of our beloved MMOs; we should nod sagely and accept the terrible truth. There are several video game franchises that have culminated in -- or at least have taken a detour through -- the land of MMOs. For gamers who wanted more and especially did not want to see their journey end, an MMO continuation is a welcome answer that's usually hiding its own problems. But nevermind that; let's march down the halls of history and see the yearbook photos of these franchises when they were young!

Tecmo-Koei announced that a new entry in its Dynasty Warriors: Gundam mecha brawler series is coming to North America and Europe this summer for the PlayStation 3. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn features a variety of playable scenarios inspired by the past 30 years of Gundam anime and manga, including a collection of missions based on the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series. A trio of games preceded Reborn on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3 hitting both platforms in 2011. Reborn is the first series entry to premiere exclusively for the PS3. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn will launch digitally via the PlayStation Network in North America. Players in Europe can choose between a downloadable copy and a region-exclusive retail release. [Image: Tecmo-Koei]

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition - whew, long title! - will be swinging and slashing its way across PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 systems on March 25, according to a recent press release from publisher Tecmo Koei. It will be the first Dynasty Warriors game for the PS4. Complete Edition is a port of Dynasty Warriors 8 plus its stand-alone expansion, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, which also has a release date of March 25. Xtreme Legends, like any good expansion, brings new levels, new characters and expanded modes. Five new characters bring the total roster up to 82, which is, technically-speaking, a freaking lot of people to play as. Already a Dynasty Warriors fan with a head-start on the PS3 version of the game looking to upgrade to the PS4 or Vita version? Good news, everyone! Your Dynasty Warriors 8 save file will transfer across all systems. Tecmo previously tweeted that the games would be coming in spring 2014, but now you know exactly which date to call in sick be a responsible adult. [Image: Tecmo Koei]

Tecmo Koei Europe has opened its present to us before the holidays, announcing on Twitter that Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends will wage war on European PS3s in Spring 2014. PS4 and Vita owners will also be getting some Xtreme love in the form of Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition, which is a bundle of DW8 and DW8: Xtreme Legends. Tecmo Koei Community Manager "Insp. Chin" also updated his blog to confirm a North American release of both versions. Tecmo Koei explained on their Tumblr that due to DW8's unavailability on the Vita or PS4, they decided to include it with DW8: Xtreme Legends in the Complete Edition. Story content involving Lu Bu, secondary EX attacks for all characters and a boosted level cap are among the changes present in DW8: Xtreme Legends, which is an expansion for the previous game.

Shin Gundam Musou, the fourth entry in Namco Bandai's Dynasty Warriors: Gundam series, will make its Japanese debut on December 19, Polygon reports from an issue of Famitsu. While Shin Gundam Musou will retain the series' trademark gameplay involving mobile suits from the Gundam anime mowing down hordes of enemies en masse, the game is said to feature a more realistic aesthetic than Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3. This allows the development team to add features such as spot damage, which may seem minor, but should increase the game's ambiance and help players differentiate its 100-plus playable mobile suits. Shin Gundam Musou will feature both an Official Mode that borrows storylines from several Gundam anime episodes, as well as an Ultimate Mode, which offers an original plot, the site says. Past entries in the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam series have been multiplatform, but this latest game is slated for release exclusively on the PlayStation 3 and Vita. So far there's been no word on an American release of Shin Gundam Musou, but if franchise history (and public affection for Gundam) is any indicator we can expect Namco Bandai to reveal an English-language iteration of the game in due time.

  • Pokemon Plus Nobunaga's Ambition could have been Dynasty Warriors: Pokemon

The newest Pokemon title will combine Nintendo's popular catch-em-all creatures with the Japanese historical setting of Nobunaga's Ambition, but it turns out that wasn't the first choice of historical periods. Originally, according to the latest Famitsu, the spinoff was going to combine Pokemon with the very popular Tecmo Koei Dynasty Warriors series and its historical setting, which is instead based on the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history.Nintendo felt the Dynasty Warriors series was a little too violent to be matched up with its cute little creatures, however, and so Tecmo Koei pitched the series known more for strategy than action, which Nintendo eventually agreed with. Famitsu also says that though both companies are working on the game, Tecmo Koei is heading up day-to-day development during production.

  • Report: Namco/Tecmo collaboration is a One Piece Dynasty Warriors game

When Namco Bandai and Tecmo Koei put up a countdown site for a new collaboration, we guessed cynically that it was another Dynasty Warriors Gundam game. It looks like we were half right, which means we were twice as cynical as we needed to be. According to Andriasang, scans from Jump magazine reveal a PS3-exclusive Dynasty Warriors-style game based on the One Piece manga/anime series, called One Piece Kaizoku Musou, or One Piece Pirate Musou ("Musou" being the name of the "Warriors" series). Nothing was revealed about the title, except that a video will be shown during TGS -- but, since it's a Dynasty Warriors game, you already know how to play it. This time, you'll be defeating waves of enemy soldiers using your stretchy arms, which is different. [Image: One Piece Official]

Today's One Shots takes us from the intimidating to the lighthearted, thanks to Massively reader Xarrin: Dynasty Warriors Online has an intriguing feature. While fighting on a battlefield vs. other players, neutral NPCs will occasionally pop up and challenge all of the combatants. Whoever can defeat this roaming vagabond will obtain his or her services as a skilled warrior fighting alongside you. This gentleman, later named Pinkbeard, was by far the most interesting random-generated NPC in the game. With the appearance of an old man, voice of a 10-year-old, and namesake beard, he continues to frighten and confuse my opponents in matches. Send a pic of the funniest, most strangely designed, or scariest enemy you've taken on in an MMO to oneshots@massively.com along with your name and the name of the game. Tell us a little about the foe and we'll share it here on One Shots! Next week on One Shots is guild week. It's time to show off your best group shot of you and your guildmates. Whether you're hanging out, enjoying guild housing, taking out a huge enemy, or throwing a party, grab a screenshot, send it in, and tell us about your guild! %Gallery-112285%

  • Dynasty Warriors 7 coming to North America on March 22

The seventh iteration -- if you can believe it -- of Tecmo Koei's long running tactical action series, Dynasty Warriors 7, will be released in North America on March 22, followed by its date with the UK three days later. This one's getting the full PlayStation 3 treatment, including 3D and Move support, plus online co-op play. The game will also be available on Xbox 360, according to the official site. Additionally, fansite Koei Warriors has posted more bullet points about the game, including revelation of an apparent "free-roam" mode, dubbed "Chronicle Mode," in which players can select from the game's more than 60 characters and no doubt wreak havoc across Romance of the Three Kingdoms-era China. They'll have "support animals," like elephants and pandas, on their side, too. You know, it's okay if you choose to sit out this particular Dynasty. The game's tag line hints that there are likely more on the way: "Evolution never ends."

Yes, that's right dear readers, it's another edition of the Friday Livestream! It's almost time for the weekend, and that means it's time for us to get down and enjoy another MMO. Tonight we're going to give Dynasty Warriors Online a try, because I've always had a soft spot for the Dynasty Warriors series. Sure, the games are horribly repetitive and always occur in the same timeline with the same battles in every iteration, but there's just something really satisfying about walking into a battle and taking on a whole army by yourself. It's just an amusing amount of fun. Oh, and did I mention we're giving out beta keys to the game? Yeah, you should totally get in on that. So, if you want to check out the action of DWO, hit the "read more" button below or click the picture above. Either way, you'll be taken to our livestream of the game, or you could visit us at http://www.livestream.com/massivelytv and join in on the live chat too! [Update: Well that was interesting. Instead of DWO, we did World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and Final Fantasy XIV! The video is, as always, after the break for those who missed the stream!]

Look at that man and his fancy beard. Do you want a piece of that? Do you, punk? Lu Bu (and our good friends at Aeria Games, but mostly Lu Bu) has given us 2,500 beta keys for Dynasty Warriors Online that we're giving to you guys! Now you too can step into the shoes of a Three Kingdoms officer and fight the good fight against thousands of nameless soldiers who will inevitably die at your feet! Huzzah! If you've never played a Dynasty Warriors title before, let us sum it up for you. You take control of an officer in the military, specialize in some sort of neat, exotic weapon, and then win entire battles by yourself. It's the ultimate game of one versus 1,000, and the one person usually comes out triumphant. Epic battles are epic. But now since it's online, you'll be doing the same thing with friends! So if you want a key then look no further than after the break.

If you've ever wanted to feel what it's like to be one of the anonymous thugs in a Dynasty Warriors level, now's your chance. Aeria Games has launched a closed beta for Dynasty Warriors Online for North American and European players. You can experience the various co-op and competitive multiplayer modes, including 12-on-12 battles. If you're eager to begin your life as a recruit (during which time we'd advise you to stay away from the hero-looking folk), you can still sign up for the beta at the official site. If you're not so eager, perhaps the trailer after the break will get your enlistment juices flowing.

Dynasty Warriors Online from Tecmo Koei and Aeria Games offers lots of old-school weapons like nun-chucks and staves, as well as more imaginative weapons like the Beast Gauntlets. Giant swords, maces, and axes feature in the action too, if you prefer something a bit larger-than-life. Sound like your kind of stress-release game? The Three Kingdoms era of Chinese history is one of those settings that people just can't seem to get enough of, with other free-to-play games mining the territory with vigor. The Dynasty Warriors franchise, however, has quite a bit of pedigree, with a long tradition of character-based storytelling and impossibly large battles. American fans of the franchise can take heart, as it has just been announced that Aeria Games will be publishing Dynasty Warriors Online in North America, with the game currently accepting beta applicants. Fans of the series will be happy to know that the game hasn't lost sight of its roots, with the engine focusing on allowing player-created characters to face off against huge hordes of NPC opponents. The game will also allow players to have a direct influence on the historical setting, with the outcome of battles affecting the delicate balance between Wei, Shu, and Wu. Naturally, there will also be the same psuedo-historical personalities made famous in the series and in the source novel. Dynasty Warriors Online is set for an official launch later this year, and if you're on the fence, take a look at the gallery below to get a feel for the game's appearance. %Gallery-99390%

A recent press release has announced that Aeria Games' free-to-play MMO Dynasty Warriors Online will soon expand its borders beyond Japan as part of a new licensing agreement with Tecmo Koei. The online hack-and-slash is now set to launch in North America and Europe as well, though no timetable has been placed on its arrival. Hopefully, the interim will give us enough time to figure out what the hell is going on in this gameplay video. If you can't wait to try your hand at reaping vast fields of soldiers with the help of some remote accomplices, keep an eye out for Dynasty Warriors Online's beta, which the press release promises will be "testing soon."
