Konami has made some major, mysterious changes this year. It canceled Silent Hills, a horror game from Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro, even after the exceptionally warm reception to its PlayStation 4 teaser, PT. Kojima himself is, in all likelihood, going to leave Konami after production wraps on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Plus, Konami delisted itself from the New York Stock Exchange and wants to aggressively pursue mobile game development. Put all of that together and you get a PT spoof from nerdy-comedy video crew Mega64. Watch the video below.

Former Sony Computer Entertainment chairman and CEO Ken Kutaragi is often referred to as "Father of PlayStation." Kutaragi accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards last week for his contributions to video game development. To chronicle his "role as a young developer," Kutaragi teamed up with the funny folks at Mega 64 for the action-packed video "Kutaragi's Way." Kutaragi's Way includes elements of a typical day in the life of a game developer: Shootings, explosions and a disembodied emotion engine. Kutaragi also appears as the CEO of a certain competitor in the spoof on late 1980s action films. [Image: Mega64]

Before watching the above Mega64 video, ask yourself what you would do if you saw a dude in strange clothes knock out and then strip another dude in strange clothes on a busy public street. If your answer is "stare and do nothing," then you'd fit right in with these spectators.

Using some clever cuts and additional dialogue, Mega64 has turned Indie Game: The Movie into a fast-paced action movie. Wait, it wasn't already an action movie? We really need to sit down and watch this thing again.

  • Modern Game Journalism: The Movie: The Trailer

The saddest part of Mega64's latest satirical jab at the gaming industry isn't the fact that Modern Game Journalism: The Movie will never be made into a real film, but rather just how startlingly accurate and true-to-life its depiction of review backlash is. Seriously, this may be a hilarious poke at the gaming industry for you at home, but it's the equivalent of an ultra-gritty war drama for us in the field. Once he saw this trailer, our managing editor Justin McElroy had what we can only assume was a post-traumatic episode, at which point he had to be horse-tranquilized. It, uhm, it was a bad scene.

If you were sent into inescapable spirals of discomfort while watching one of Mega64's videos released this year, the video after the jump may very well kill you. It's a behind-the-scenes look at their take on Limbo, Portal 2, Shenmue -- and, of course, the horrified crowds they left in their wake.

We were wondering exactly how Mega64 was going to pull off a video based on Portal 2 without the use of the game's physics-defying gun. It's a good thing we weren't wondering very hard, because we never would have guessed that the answer would involve butt wormholes.

Yes, Mega64's (second) spoof of Heavy Rain features one of the guys wandering through a mall on a very vocal hunt for Jason -- but that's not all. It also contains some of the most cringe-worthy moments of social discomfort that the troupe has ever, ever managed to elicit.

During his GDC panel, Yu Suzuki dropped the world-changing news that he might possibly, maybe, be able to make a third Shenmue game, if he can find the money. But in case this rock-solid guarantee doesn't go through, Mega64 cornered Suzuki and asked him to outline the end of the story, in order to provide us the closure we've craved since 2001. We don't want to spoil the ending of Ryo Hazuki's saga ourselves, so we'll just tell you to go past the break and let Suzuki tell the story of the vengeance-obsessed teen's trans-Pacific ride on a levitating sword, with live-action performances of key scenes by Mega64 and a special guest. Perhaps we've already said too much. It'll be entirely our fault if the story lacks dramatic impact.

There are only two things that disturb our FPS concentration: mom's unwillingness to bring over some chocolate milk; and the dullards spouting racist, homophobic inanity online. Rooster Teeth and Mega 64 just tested a real soldier's resistance to e-idiocy, and we've posted the video results after the break.

As Castlevania: Lords of Shadow approaches, Mega64 celebrates the series with a tribute to the crystal-tradingest, corpse-huntingest game in the series, Simon's Quest. The "villagers" are as incomprehensible in real life as in the game, but one "extra" still manages to steal the show.

We're not sure how Cabela's could be so consistently unaware of the games landscape, but we'd be remiss if we said we weren't glad. Otherwise, we wouldn't get hilarious videos from Mega64, like the one we've embedded past the break. We don't want to ruin the ending for you, but let's just say the Cabela's guys are ready to finish the fight. [Thanks, Tyler]
