Download to PSP Faith, our favorite skyscraper-hopping protagonist from Mirror's Edge, narrates her background story in this stylish trailer. The narrative feels a bit like the O-Ren Ishii anime sequence in Kill Bill while the visual style is a cross between cel-shading and what you see on Samurai Jack. Tell us what you guys think after you take a look. The game will be out November 11th and you can check out our hands-on impressions here.[Via Joystiq]

Working puzzle games into MMOs isn't a new concept either, but there's still plenty of ground to be covered with the idea. Puzzle Pirates has a few examples of taking things like equipment and introducing them into the puzzle aspects of the game. While having too little is obviously a bad move, I'd rather see an MMO that takes five or six puzzle games and goes deep instead.

A flash-based trailer showcasing one of the most impressive looking titles to hit this holiday? OK, EA we'll bite. In a society seemingly ripped from the pages (in concept) from a George Orwell novel, Mirror's Edge is the story of a world where citizens are trained and controlled. After a failed resistance the city has grown sterile and without emotion but now a new group leaps from rooftop-to-rooftop in search of freedom from control. EA's marketing machine is ratcheting up its efforts on Mirror's Edge – how else will it hit those sales numbers? The latest salvo in its ongoing campaign is the above "story trailer" providing some beautifully animated background on Faith's outlaw-courier origin and the oppressive government she's avoiding by running around on rooftops. It's no secret that we're a fan of these trailers; in fact, the only thing we can really take umbrage with here is this: they're making us pine for a "cel-shading" option in Mirror's Edge. C'mon, DICE – how hard could it be? Just click that "cel-shading" box on your game-making tool. Done! Download in HD (98MB)

Quick. Grab your wallet, remove a crisp $100 bill and light it on fire. Actually, don't. But if you were reaching for that Benjamin, this edition of Mirror's Edge might be for you. Deciding that the $150 edition of Dead Space wasn't enough for the holiday, EA has signed on with bag maker Timbuk2 to offer and exclusive Mirror's Edge branded messenger bag with the game for a collective total of $130. Sure, it's much nicer than GameStop's pre-order bag but do you really need that $130 strapped to your sholder when so many great games are hitting by years end? Well, if you do need it we guess it could be worse ... at least it isn't priced at Timbuk200 dollars! Amirite?

Sometimes, video games just aren't expensive enough. Sometimes, we'll think to ourselves, "Just $60? What am I going to do with all this money I make blogging about video games?" Sensing our dilemma, EA's offering a pair of extra-spensive Xbox 360 bundles for two of their highest-profile (and most promising!) fall releases. We've already filled you in on the $150 "Ultra Limited Edition" Dead Space bundle but also wanted to showcase this rather fetching messenger bag Mirror's Edge bundle.$130 bags you the Xbox 360 release of the game along with a ME-themed Timbuk2 messenger bag (read: much nicer than GameStop's preorder bag), complete with Faith's face on the inside flap – just the sort of conversation starter we all want sewn directly into our baggage.%Gallery-33028%

The folks over at 1UP have a nice feature about the making of Mirror's Edge. With a little under two months to go before the Parkour-inspired FPS runs free at retail, the site talks with developers at DICE about the title and many people's initial apprehensions about the game's concept -- including EA CEO John Riccitiello. A video of the game's "proof of concept," which can be found after the break, shows just how much of the core mechanic remained intact, while changing the protagonist's gender and use of weapons. The article also covers how Faith was initially a multiplayer character before she took center stage and has several nice pieces of early concept art of the levels.

Today, EA released an interesting Mirror's Edge video showing off what the game looked like before it became, well ... a game. This new "Proof of Concept" trailer was one that was created to test to overall concept and serve as a benchmark for what they wanted to achieve in Mirror's Edge. Like we said, the footage is rough around the edges and done way before Faith was chosen to be the main character, so don't be alarmed by the chracter's manly arms. Enjoy the show!

This might come as a shock to some of you – well, those of you that are easily shocked – but Mirror's Edge marketing cat Martin Frain says the game could sell as many as three million units across three platforms ... and that's his conservative estimate! Why such big numbers, Mr. Frain? He says, "We're being helped immensely, just by the look of the game ... You look at a screenshot of Mirror's Edge, and you know what it is."There's another game from last year that immediately comes to mind: Assassin's Creed had an immediately recognizable look, was an unproven IP, had mixed reviews, and was released into an unusually busy holiday game season, yet still went on to sell over six million units. So, can EA spark the same interest in this unusually colorful parkour playpen, being released into a similarly frenzied gaming season?%Gallery-17126%

Earlier in the week PC gamers were treated to an alarming rumor that Mirror's Edge wouldn't deliver the goods until 2009, today the good and bad news has been revealed to all. Console gamers are getting some alone time with Faith, first. Today Electronic Arts announced that the Unreal Engine 3 powered parkour-simulator from DICE will be delivered on November 11 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 while PC gamers will get the title later this winter.EA also revealed that a demo of the tutorial stage, also known as the stage featured at E3 and PAX, and a scene from the single-player campaign will be made available. As an added bonus, those who pre-order the game after September 26 will receive a code to unlock the Time Trial mode within the demo. We're jumping for excitement ... and to hurdle ourselves over this red staircase.[via Joystiq]

EA has announced that its parkour, rebellion and delivery girl simulator, Mirror's Edge, will release November 11 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Giving credence to the rumors already floating around, the PC version of the game is now confirmed for "later in the winter." EA also confirmed that a demo will be available featuring "the tutorial" and a scene from the single-player campaign. Those who pre-order at "select retailers" after September 26 will receive a code that unlocks "Time Trial" in the demo. Hopefully, the game will be delivered on time -- watch the rooftops![Update: Note that the pre-order incentive's staring date may not necessarily be the release date of the demo. Upon contacting EA for a specific date, Joystiq was told, "The pre-order initiative begins on September 26th and the demo will be out before the game ships, as the press release sent this morning states."]

  • Hands-on: Mirror's Edge

You've all no doubt seen the original trailer for Mirror's Edge (and if not, where've you been?), which means you know the first part of this Mirror's Edge level pretty well. Looks easy, right? I thought so too, until I had my hands on the controls and I was plummeting to my death for the fifth time. Mirror's Edge looks incredibly stylish in the trailers, but it's easy to assume there's not much actual gameplay there. The reality is, this is one of the most intriguingly controlled games that you'll play this year. The controls essentially boil down to two buttons and two analogue sticks; L1 is the "up" button, L2 is the "down" button and the sticks do exactly what you'd expect. This rather bizarre control set up takes some getting used to, but after a little while feels very fluid. Everything's context sensitive, so pushing L1 as you're running, standing, in mid-air or against a wall will result in different actions. Pressing L2 mid-jump, for example, will pull your legs up, allowing you to jump further. Pressing the same button just before you land after a long fall will preserve momentum by allowing you to execute a forward roll.%Gallery-22498%

  • Mirror's Edge receiving 'exclusive' DLC on PS3

While dismissing reports of timed PlayStation 3 exclusivity, EA has revealed that its run-jump-and-climb-em-up Mirror's Edge did cut an "exclusive marketing agreement" with the folks at Sony. Elaborating further, an EA spokesman told Eurogamer, "Exclusive downloadable content will be offered on the PlayStation Network."Ah, but that's not the same as offering downloadable content exclusively, now is it? As we've all come to learn, the industry's use of the word "exclusive" is about as persistent as a piece of cotton candy in your mouth. For all we know (which, admittedly, isn't a lot), the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Mirror's Edge could be receiving their own "exclusive" downloadable bits. Probably some designer gloves and elbow pads for our squirrely protagonist.[Via PS3 Fanboy]

  • Mirror's Edge to have PS3-exclusive DLC

A number of you sent in a tip last week regarding SCEE president David Reeves, who was quoted as saying Mirror's Edge will be a timed exclusive on the PS3. Well, it isn't true. It looks like that was "a misunderstanding in terms of the quote," a Sony spokesperson told Eurogamer. But the representative did have something else to say. "PlayStation has an exclusive marketing agreement with EA regarding the title. Exclusive downloadable content will be offered on the PlayStation Network."No other details regarding the DLC were given at this time, such as the nature of the content or whether other platforms will get exclusive DLC as well. Considering the big bucks the PS3 is bringing to EA, we wouldn't be surprised if this is just another way for them show they play nice with Sony.

Fresh from the Games Convention comes new Mirror's Edge gameplay footage depicting a few solid minutes of action packed running, jumping, diving and climbing. The first "Energy Plant" gameplay video (embedded above) shows off some rather sexy moves and acrobatic sequences all ending in a watery slip-n-slide. The second video (after the break) is a bit less exciting and kinda shows what happens when your jumping skills aren't up to par. It's Mirror's Edge video goodness, now go watch.[Via Game Stooge]

After seeing the same few minutes of Mirror's Edge footage ad nauseam, EA has seen fit to release three minutes of new parkour goodness from the game for Leipzig. In the newly released video found after the break, Faith works her traceur magic and attempts to escape from snipers inside some kind of warehouse/hydroelectric plant. Yup, we're still excited about this game and we can't wait to play it again.
