That's right human beings -- it's happening again! The Engadget crew is getting together their best party outfits and shipping out west for another installment of our fabulous reader meetups. Our last event in NYC drew loads of people and was an all around blast, and the San Francisco installment is sure to be just as explosive (or maybe more? c'mon... show us what you've got). This time around we're partnering with Sprint, as well as Sony PlayStation, Motorola, HP, Roku, Samsung, VUDU, RIM, Sling, Sonos, HTC, Corning, Sphero, OnLive, Plantronics, Snapstick, and more to bring you a night of gadget geeking, delicious foodstuffs, and some awesome music (provided by none other than our podcast producer, Trent Wolbe). Also, a whole mess of the Engadget editors will be on hand to entertain and inform, so if you have any pressing questions -- jot them down! Oh, and don't forget to include the hashtag #EngadgetSF in your tweets! And did we mention there will be tons of serious giveaways for people in attendance? Because there will be. You seriously don't want to sleep on this. For instance, one lucky attendee to the event will walk away with a super limited edition gold Xoom (being gifted to this year's Oscar nominees). Check out an image and info after the break! The all ages shindig will take place tonight, February 25 at City View at The Metreon, which is located conveniently in downtown SF. If you're a nerd in the city, you most likely already know what we're talking about. The doors will open at 6:30PM, and capacity is limited to 1200 people -- so if you want to get inside, get there early! Update: A quick update on where to go -- the line is forming at 4th Street and Mission. Yes, there will be a line, but word is Sonos has brought a taco truck! Yes, free tacos starting at 3pm! [Scratch that, taco-palooza begins at 4:30!]

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mathew McCurley, pretty much the best guy ever, will be your host. I got no sleep. None. BlizzCon. Today is party. Trying to sleep on plane. Writing this Wednesday, thinking about sleep on plane. Pretty butterflies, where did you come from? I will dance the dance of fire. No, really, tonight is the WoW Insider reader meetup at the Anabella in Anaheim. Get ready for pretty much the greatest night of WoW nerdity, prizes, fun and everything awesome. If you're going to the party, please say hello. Especially you WoW Insider Show fans -- I expect to see you out in full force spreading the good word. Starlin asked: I want to go to the BlizzCon meetup, but I'm hopelessly introverted. Is there room for someone like me to lurk in the background? Or will it just be awkward?

Oh yes, humans -- it's happening again! After a painfully long wait, we're finally kicking our reader meetups back into gear. The first in the series will take place in New York City on October 21st (that's tomorrow!), and it's going to be a killer. The all-ages event is sponsored by Sprint and will feature a slew of amazing companies in attendance. What companies, you ask? How about Sony PlayStation, Research In Motion, Palm, Sony VAIO, Bug Labs, Panasonic, Nokia, Sling, Roku, Sonos, Boxee, Peek, and many more (we're adding names as we type)! In addition to the tons of gadgets and gear you'll be able to get your hands on, we'll have giveaways, demos, music, food, and drinks for everyone. The meetup takes place in NYC at Espace (635 W. 42nd St, New York, NY, between 11th and 12th Ave.), and will run from 6:30PM until 10:30PM. Capacity for the venue is around 1000, and we'll likely fill up -- so plan on getting there nice and early! We'll be coming at you with more details and an updated partner list, but for now, mark the date down and get ready to party. You can sign up and discuss the event at our Facebook page, too. Note: The image above? Soon to be another limited edition T-shirt collaboration between eBoy and Engadget!

    08.30.2010

Labor Day weekend is coming up and you know what that means: Dragon*Con 2010 and PAX 2010 are here! The two dueling conventions are back to capture the hearts of nerds across America, and Massively.com is going to be in full force at both conventions this year -- a first for us! To celebrate, we're having not one, but two MMO fan gatherings, so our fans from both sides of the country can attend! If you're a PAX person, then come visit us at 8:00 p.m. PDT at The Night Kitchen in Seattle! The Night Kitchen is equipped with a lovely lounge and free wi-fi, so bring your laptop and show off your l33t epics to the mob and the staff! Rubi Bayer, Larry Everett, and Justin Olivetti will be hosting the party, so be sure to drop by, say hi, pick up some late night snacks, and tell us all about your favorite games! If you're a Dragon*Conite, then be sure to drop by the Sheraton's Capitol Ballroom at 10:00 p.m. EDT for the MMO Gathering of Heroes! This is the Dragon*Con MMO track's official dance party, and it's also being hosted by Massively's own Krystalle Voecks and former Massively.com columnist Rafe Brox. Rafe and Krystalle will be laying down the beats for the party, but Grand Poobah Shawn Schuster and I, Seraphina Brennan, will be in attendance as well. (Most likely in costume!) Plus, we can't forget about Kevin Stallard, the leader of the MMO track and former Ask Massively man! So if you want to come meet some fellow MMO-lovers, dance, or meet some of the Massively.com staffers, then this is your party. (P.S. -- A Dragon*Con 2010 pass is required to get into this party.) So, to recap: Saturday, September 4th at 8:00 p.m. PDT at Seattle's Night Kitchen, or Saturday, September 4th, at 10:00 p.m. EDT at Dragon*Con's MMO Gathering of Heroes, located in the Capitol Ballroom of the Sheraton hotel. If you need help, or reminders, join our Steam Community group, The Massively Mob! We hope to see you at one of our events!

While we've long been in the community among you as gamers, recently we've been branching out more. Between our shiny new community page, our IRC chatroom, and more recently game nights with the Massively mob, there are more ways for the community to have fun than ever before! As a case in point, we have today's interesting Guild Wars screenshot from the other night which comes to us from Blah? He gives us his thoughts on it: "I'm sending in this screenshot of Guild Wars that I took on the first night of the Massively.com get together. I was running around in the Catacombs, lost as usual. I made my way down this particular hallway, and was suddenly struck with composure in regard to the emotional effect games try to have on us." "To the casual observer, this is just a simple screeenshot of a dark corridor that leads from one point to the other. To me, however, it's a reminder of the menacing presence of the unknown. The nature of this world that I pretend to be in tells me that around every corner, danger waits to take me screaming through the darkness, turn me into a figure their own, and curse me from the light that I side with." Why not join the fun and send in your own screenshots to be featured here on One Shots -- or catch up with us in-game? We can always use more images to pick from. Just email them to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the game it's from, and whatever other information you'd like to give us. We'll post it for everyone to enjoy and give you the credit. %Gallery-85937%

    10.27.2009

This weekend we had the chance to hang out with a bunch of rough-and-tumble types in the wastelands of Fallen Earth. No, we weren't just doing our typical weekend gaming! We were lucky enough to get to spend some time in-game, hanging out with Marie "Arosei" Croall, Content Team Lead for Fallen Earth. During the evening, we asked her some of the great player submitted questions we solicited last week. She also tossed out a couple of interesting asides to the huge crowd that amassed to take part in the event - and to get some of the free goodies we were handing out! For those of you who may not have been able to make it - or would just like to check it out without all the cross-chatter - we've transcribed the interview (and some interesting asides) behind the break. Also, remember that we have another Massively Fallen Earth event happening this Wednesday night at the Embry Satellite, starting at 9:00 PM Eastern. This time our very own Shawn Schuster will be dropping by to hold a Massively Reader Meet-up, with - you guessed it - more free stuff, and a special Halloween-themed show on Post Apoc Radio.

So there are ways to wrap up trips and there are ways to wrap... up... trips. After four weeks of Engadget souls roaming the trains of Tokyo for TGS and CEATEC, we finally closed things out with a massive reader meetup with Engadget Japan. About 500 rabid (but very friendly) Engadget Japan fans lined up in Roppongi to meet the editors and see some mind-boggling, sometimes hysterical, and always interesting presentations. Thanks to Maywa Denki for his artistic impressions of Engadget readers (and the amazing Otamatone musical...thing). Also big ups to Samo Dengi (composer of music for Tekken), Cerevo, Acer, Microsoft, and Sony. But most of all, thanks to our amazing readers world-round, and thank you Japan! We are humbled, honored, and oh, so tired. See you next year! Rainen mata oaishimashooo! Video of the event after the break (taken on a 3G Android device, btw!).%Gallery-75694%

We were really happy to see how many people showed up to our meetup in Atlanta during CEDIA -- especially when everyone didn't leave immediately after they enjoyed the free food. The local Georgia Tech chapter of the Association of Computer Machinery were awesome hosts and did an impressive job at organizing the event -- something we doubt we could've pulled off when we were in college. We also wanted to really extend our appreciate to everyone who participated including ZAGG who crashed the event with free headphones and gift cards -- and to think when we crash parties we usually don't bring anything. The pictures we took at the event are in the gallery below, but if you have some to add please post 'em on flickr with the tag EngadgetHD so everyone can find them, thanks. We were also happy to learn that a few of the participates were bloggers themselves, so to show our appreciation we wanted to share those sites with the rest of our readers. Thanks again, and we can't wait for the next one! CSinCS Makario Lewis Hillary Lipko: Frustrated Bunny Software development, brewing, and zombies WTFReview

We figured enough was enough and that it was finally time for the HD crew to get in on some of this meetup fun, so with some help from our new friends at the Georgia Tech chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery, we're having the very first Engadget HD reader meetup. The event will take place on the Georgia Tech campus -- so no University of Georgia apparel is permitted -- at the Klaus building in room 1116W at 6:00pm on Friday the 11th and will go for about two hours -- we're told the easiest way to find the room is to walk through the main stairs to the courtyard and look for the signs. There is a place to park a few buildings over, but it isn't free. So come by and geek out over some CEDIA news with Ben and Richard of Engadget HD, and the members of the local chapter of the ACM. Map shot is after the break.

Do you like tight leather pants and beer? Then you'll love hanging out with us and our German colleagues tomorrow in the Sommergarten of Messe Berlin, host of the IFA tradeshow. The shindig is from 1PM to 3PM (13:00 to 15:00 hours if you like your timestamps Euro-style). There will be free t-shirts and, of course, beer, but we know you'll come just for the "supah" conversation. No RSVP is required, so just stop by whenever and nerd out with us German style -- Thomas and Paul will be there, along with most of the Engadget German crew, a melding of gadget minds that's just not to be missed. The map is after the break.

Yesterday was the superheroic launch of Champions Online, and we were very happy to get to play alongside some of you! Throughout the day we were jumping around on our characters, breaking from our former plans of camping in the Crisis zones to tackle challenges all over the Champions globe! From Canada to the Desert to even the fouler reaches of Millenium City, Massively readers were taking down some serious threats to the safety of the NPC population.Didn't get the chance to catch up with us? No worries! We're on your friends list (most likely) so it won't be that hard to catch up with us while we're in-game. Thanks to the wonders of sidekicking, we're here if you ever need backup or just want to go out and save the day.We hope you're all enjoying your time in Champions Online and your time partying and defeating villains with us. We know we're enjoying it, and thanks again!
