"As I was helping Yrel along her quest to Exarch-hood earlier this week, I snapped a few screen shots to commemorate the journey," writes submitter Paladave of Clan Wilkes on Garona (US-A). "My favourite is this one in front of Maraad's Ashes. A truly great hero, may he find peace. Yrel too is growing into a great leader, a steadfast and passionate companion, and she will honour Maraad's memory well (although she could work on her use of interrupts). Clearly she has great sense when it comes to weapon choices and transmogs. In retrospect, however, this picture makes me wonder if she's been quietly slipping Pygmy Oil into my health potions. If by some chance she becomes a follower in the future, legendary or otherwise, I will have to keep a close eye on her to see if she also has the makings of a great practical joker!" • The Daily Grind: What's your current MMO-related desktop?

I typically roll with game-related desktop wallpapers on my computers, and those wallpapers relate to something I'm currently playing (or wishing I was playing, in the case of Star Citizen). Sometimes I go with concept art, sometimes I go with developer- or community-created wallpapers, and sometimes I even go with a screenshot I took myself. That's rare, though, because I'm not much of a photographer. Anyway, what about you, Massively readers? What sort of MMO-related badassery do you currently have on your desktop? Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!

What in-game pet means the most to you? To reader Derrick, it's a special black sheep in Mabinogi that's snuggled its way into his heart. "I'm an Aries in real life and always liked the symbolism of rams in culture, so my first pet after my mount was a black sheep named Tanngrisnir," Derrick submitted. "It's now no longer available in the store and is a bit of a rarity. Over the years playing, I managed to find a black sheep balloon, puppet, and a pair of ram horns to complete the look, along with a black sheep title (not shown). It's helped out not just by providing my wool for tailoring; in my early days, Tanngrisnir was always willing to take a hit or two to distract enemies." Yes sir, yes sir, three bags of loot full. Sorry, couldn't help myself. I'll be better after the break!

"I started playing WoW at the end of vanilla, when Burning Crusade was three months from arriving," writes submitter Gimmlette of Spectacular Death on Llane (US-A). "It was a while before I got to experience Molten Core, and when I did, my guild and I didn't need 40 people with specifically assigned roles. There are still memories, though, of getting punted by Baron Geddon and needing to get people high enough rep to have Aqua Quintessence to put out the runes. (I worked hard to get mine. It's something I still have and won't ever delete.) I caught this shot of all the sparkles around Garr as the LFR group we were in worked to contain the adds and down both them and him. For all the complaints about running this in LFR mode, it's been a fun walk down memory lane." Want to see your own screenshot here? Send it to aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com. Point-and-click adventure game publisher Wadjet Eye Games announced a partnership to bring a new futuristic game into its catalog today, Technobabylon. Originally developed by James Dearden of Technocrat Games, the cyberpunk game is set in a dystopian future (in 2087, specifically) where an AI named Central powers the game's city and "genetic engineering is the norm." Dearden envisioned Technobabylon as an eight-part episodic series, and created the first three games in 2010. The developer revealed on its blog in October that the game is already "playable from start to finish," and Dearden is working with Wadjet Eye Games to record voices for its characters. The publisher provided a teaser trailer that introduces Charlie Regis, one of the secret police for the futuristic city. Technobabylon is expected to launch this coming spring for PC with Mac and Linux versions planned to arrive later. [Image: Wadjet Eye Games]

British developer Rebellion revealed a revamped third-person shooter bundle for PC, PS4 and Xbox One today, Zombie Army Trilogy. As the studio hinted in February 2014, the collection features both Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army and its sequel, stand-alone expansions of the developer's tactical shooter, Sniper Elite V2. The package also includes "the never-seen-before third installment in the series and a brand new horde mode." Both Nazi Zombie Army and the second expansion launched in 2013 for PC. Zombie Army Trilogy will include 15 missions that span three campaigns and five horde maps with up to four-player cooperative multiplayer options. The trilogy is available for pre-order on Steam for $45, and Rebellion is "offering an exclusive loyalty discount to owners of the first two Nazi Zombie Army games via Steam before launch," though it did not specify how sizable the discount will be. According to the bundle's Steam page, the trilogy is expected to launch on March 6, though Rebellion only noted that the game will launch in "early 2015." "So after finally recruiting Fargo Flintlocke to my garrison, I've taken to having him patrol with me as I run around doing all the daily duties that a good commander does -- y'know, try to influence him by example, that sort of thing," writes submitter Arugadh of The Brotherhood of Iron on Wyrmrest Accord (US-A). "But yesterday, he wasn't out in the open hanging around the Pleasure-bot as he usually is. I found him in the Inn, sitting at a feast-loaded table with one of the lumberjacks and Admiral Taylor. Admiral Taylor looked decidedly miffed at being there. Which leads me to wonder if Flintlocke was at Taylor's Garrison before it got run over ... and what the true circumstances of Taylor's demise are. Knowing Dave Fargo, there's a story there that'll be the source of a hysterical cutscene at some point as yet unrevealed." Want to see your own screenshot here? • Tale of Tales' Sunset rises with first screens

    01.07.2015

Tale of Tales' upcoming narrative-driven game Sunset received its first official set of screenshots today. Announced in March 2014, the exploration game stars Angela Burnes, a housekeeper of a secluded philanthropist, set in a lone 1970's apartment. The Path and Fatale developer noted that the screens are "still work in progress and even though they do not represent the final beauty of the game, they say a lot about what is going to make the penthouse a spectacular environment to explore." Players will scope out the apartment to learn more about Burnes' employer when the game arrives this spring on PC, Mac and Linux. As seen in the gallery below, Tale of Tales said it "pushed the colour scheme to its saturation point with the tones of the evening sky, chic lighting from designer lamps and dramatic shadows" to make the game "feel real," yet stylized. Sunset earned $67,636 on Kickstarter in July and will feature a soundtrack from Journey's Grammy-nominated composer, Austin Wintory. The developer discussed the ways it is "trying something different" with Joystiq following its funding campaign. [Image: Tale of Tales]

Who's that staring at his motorcycle pin-up calendars and smoking behind the high school? It's Charlie Brown, the baddest teenage goblin in all of Draenor! Although considering their tendency towards explosive engineering failures, it's pretty common to find young goblins smoking. They're just usually on fire while doing so. (Thanks to submitter Nounours of GrandGalacticInquisitor on Llane [US-A] for the screenshot!) Want to see your own screenshot here? Send it to aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com. "Being undead isn't all it's cracked up to be," writes today's submitter. "With the help of the Dark Lady, Goodytwoshoe on Duskwood (US-H) may have escaped the Lich King's control, but her mind didn't quite come with her. She can't always remember whether she's an Alliance human or a Horde undead, so when she found herself with gunpowder, she may have tried to blow up the wrong target." Welcome to a new year -- and the best year of One Shots you'll ever see. I know this because I've been to the future (December 31st, 2015) and spent those precious time-bending moments flipping through all of the One Shots column this year. Amazing stuff, people. Really well done. Well, we might as well get started with your glorious photo journeys! Our very first pic of the year is from reader Becca, who sends us this groovy bit of shadow play in Elder Scrolls Online: "While waiting for a boss to spawn in a public dungeon, my friend Arkslan and my character Rozyn had some fun with lighting." Great. Now I know what will be lurking under my bed tonight: a sing-songy bard. Terror knows no name, but it does sing harmony.

Reader Sid is out for a midnight fishing expedition in this ArcheAge screenshot, and I have to envy him of the breathtaking view. Although, why not fish during the day? Less kraken that way, my granny always said. So this wraps up our two-week series of daily One Shots! Tomorrow we'll be back to normal with the weekly column. I hope you got inspired to send in your own screenshots and stories to oneshots@massively.com, because I'd love to feature them! Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Send your favorite MMO screenshots to oneshots@massively.com, and don't forget to include your name, the name of the game, and a description of the scene. Large, colorful, UI-free shots that tell a story and really show off the game make for the best images. Look ma, we brought back One Shots!

What better way to usher in the new year than to take a look back at Halloween? OK, so I'm still catching up on all of the terrific player-submitted screenshots in our email, but we're getting closer than ever! In any case, I would not want to let this gourd-headed hero go unnoticed. Reader JohnD is the man behind the mask: "Here is Frani, my level 29 Hunter celebrating the Harvest Festival in Lord of the Rings Online. She got the mount, clothes, and pumpkin mask all this season. Fun time was had by all." Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Submitter Istara of First Bank of GWAR on Crushridge (US-A) stepped into her garrison one morning to discover that two of her pets had mated to produce ... whatever this is. Dragonboar? Faeriepig? I guess it doesn't really matter. The important question is this: is it edible? Because those wings look like they would be delicious with some honey glaze. Time to take it to the barn and find out what it's made of! Want to see your own screenshot here? Send it to aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com. What MMOs will be releasing this year in the west? It's hard to say, exactly, although there are those who hold out hope that Blade & Soul might finally make the leap to the Americas and Europe. If pictures like this are any indication, we are missing out. "I've recently stepped back into the game with the Chinese release and while I'm not very far along into the game (it's a little tough when I don't understand the language!) I'm completely in love with the art style and combat mechanics," reader Dynatos said. "I don't usually go the cute fluffy look, but I wanted to create a Summoner character to play with the mechanics of the class. Here he is gliding gracefully through the air after learning the first Qing Gong. Next up -- running on water!" Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? "While I may not be a young tater tot of a gnome anymore, I still like visiting Greatfather Winter," writes submitter Perki of Spectacular Death on Llane (US-A). "Especially for an old timey-wimey photo op!" Greatfather Winter has the same look on his face that mall Santas do when they have stoned teenagers trying to sit in their laps. The hour has come at last! Yes, we said that yesterday, but this time we really mean it! Pathfinder Online has entered early enrollment as of today, allowing backers to jump in and play the game in its early state. There are even some new screenshots (exclusive to Massively!) to go along with this stage of the game's slow rollout; they're embedded in the gallery below. A new blog entry has also been posted, stating the game's design philosophy once again and explaining how the earliest stage of deployment will work out. If you really want to get in but aren't already a backer from the game's second Kickstarter, access will set you back $100 with three months of included game time. Somehow, we ran into one of the hidden walls and I (the druid) got stuck. He tried to get off and stretch his legs, but were it not for being an gnomish engineer, he would have become a pile of guts on the ground. After a while, I tried to walk, and discovered that this was a knife's edge, as I soon fell. Thankfully, having an engineer friend saved us both." Stop trying to get into Tanaan, folks!
