Exactly one month stands between us and the release of Media Molecule's ambitious, customizable platformer LittleBigPlanet -- for the masses who've been eagerly anticipating the title since its Go! Team-infused GDC 2007 reveal, that kind of wait could be nigh-unbearable. Being the altruistic so-and-sos we are, we thought we'd help alleviate your impatience with a recently leaked, complete list of LBP trophies (posted after the break) -- though we imagine there's a good chance that further details about the game could only increase your already fevered excitement. If that's the case, we're totally sorry.

  • Edge of Twilight will support Trophies and Home

Edge of what? It's okay if you don't remember the game being announced. Thanks to a lack of developer pedigree (and we don't mean that in a nasty way), plus the fact that Edge of Twilight is a new IP being developed in Australia, the game hasn't been given much attention. Oh, it's also not due out til some time next year. While we may have heard very little about the title, what we have heard has us intrigued. When you describe the game as being an amalgamation of three of our favorite franchises, it's hard not to get us interested. The latest news out of developer FuzzyEyes (via an interview with Gamespot) is that Edge of Twilight will support Trophies when it launches next year. They also have plans for Home content, which is always nice to hear. Check out the full interview for more information on why the developers decided to go for a steampunk style, some more background on the main character, Lex, and some insight into the day and night gameplay. Hopefully it'll work better than other games ...

Sony and Wizards of the Coast are ramping up yet another 100-card expansion to their genre-bending PS3 hybrid, The Eye of Judgment. The new set, titled Biolith Rebellion Set 3, will bring the game's total number of collectible cards to 310.As with the previous expansion, an additional PSN purchase will be required before any newly unwrapped cards can be used in game. However, this time around the download will add more than just new animations and rules, including Trophy support, background story and a "set of new abilities that encourage more tactical playing based on creature formation." The new cards are expected to arrive at retail outlets on October 16, provided the shipment doesn't meet with any unfortunate accidents along the way.

    09.11.2008

Update: Headline has been changed, and article altered to emphasize which content is free and which is not. The patch is free, but Amusement Park (an expansion pack) is not. Sorry for any confusion. The long-awaited PAIN Trophy patch is now available to download. Simply load up the game and you will be prompted to download the 325MB patch. Don't forget, PAIN's Trophies have been retooled, to make them a bit easier than originally intended. There is one free addition to the feature roster, however. Each week a new mini-level will be made available. Each of these "PAINlabs" will be an experimental concept that Idol Minds are playing with and are releasing for you, the players, to test out. An interesting idea -- and best of all? It's free. The patch coincides with the release of the Amusement Park expansion pack, which adds a bunch of content to the game -- but only if you pay for it. Three new characters are also available to purchase.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

  • Pain DLC delayed a week, trophies toned down

Like a hot nurse kissing a mime, there's something good and something bad in today's update from the always-busy developers behind the PS3's bone-breaking simulator, Pain. First, the bad news: the downloadable "Uncle Jimmy's Fun Park" level, originally planned for release tomorrow, has been delayed, and is currently targeted for release on the ominous date of Sept. 11.Why was it delayed? Well that's the good news: the development team has been spending its time scaling back the difficulty of the somewhat ridiculous trophies it announced last month. Seems testers didn't have too much fun grinding their way through the "one billion points" trophy, among others. The new trophy list, which is copied below the break, is also set to be downloadable on Sept. 11

  • PAIN Amusement Park delayed, Trophies retooled to be easier

    09.03.2008

Trophy and PAIN addicts are going to have to wait a little bit longer. The Amusement Park expansion, originally due tomorrow, has been delayed to some time later this month. The reason behind the delay? Well, one part comes from the developers changing Trophy requirements. When the original Trophy list was unveiled, many complained that they were too challenging, and could only be accomplished by those that played the game constantly. "They began to resemble the tedious level grinds in MMOs and not the spoils for being good," the PAIN blog admits. "So we thought rather than making people play PAIN for the trophies, it might be a better idea to let people play PAIN because it's REALLY FUN and let the earned trophies come from that experience."The revised Trophy list is available, after the cut.[Thanks, James C.!]

  • Warhawk update 1.5 live; adds Trophies, custom music support

    by

    08.27.2008

As promised, Sony and Incognito have rolled the latest Warhawk update out of its hanger, prompting a mandatory install once you start the game. Major additions for version 1.5 of the game include much-anticipated PlayStation Trophies (57 of them, with a good mix of gold, silver, bronze, and "mystery offerings") and support for custom music via the in-game XMB. We've just installed the patch and are firing up a match with Hanson's "MMMBop" on full blast! Sure, the update's no new-map-and-rocket-packs gala like the upcoming Fallen Star booster pack – which hits tomorrow – but it's nevertheless another nice show of free support for a still very popular, ever-expanding game.

Kylie Prymus is the first columnist for PS Fanboy. A Ph.D candidate in philosophy, Kylie specializes in the sociology of technology. Through this new weekly column, Kylie will explore the impact of PlayStation on thought and culture. My PSN profile tells me that I am a Trophy n00b. An abysmal 1st level collector. I've acquired most of the trophies that you average primate could gather with ease, and I'm not sure I'll be able to get many more. I have a paltry 8 trophies, all of them from PixelJunk Eden. That puts me at a 33% completion rate, firmly in the middle of category: l-o-s-e-r. Still, I didn't download Eden for the Trophies any more than I downloaded it hoping it would teach me to finally get my snozzberry* plants to grow. I downloaded it because it was a much lauded and quirky, not to mention exclusive, PSN title and I happen to have a soft spot for such qualities (particularly the exclusivity). Being able to collect Trophies through the game is just a bonus, a diversionary side quest that makes the whole package slightly more appealing. As I venture for the first time into this whole trophy business I've had to ask myself why I should even bother. What is the appeal of achievements Trophies? Do they add to or take away from a game? What is it about the Trophy system that made it such a sought after addition to the PSN? Milestones? Bragging rights?
