  • WoW Moviewatch: Mr. Lonely (previously Heart of the Wild)

Update: Andrige, as you can see in the comments, has asked us to not post his movie -- he says that it wasn't done (though the movie was publicly available, and still is at the link below). So instead, we've decided to bring you an oldie but a goodie today: Mr. Lonely, based on a song by Akon (that has one NSFW lyric in it). We'll see Heart of the Wild here again when it's ready to go.Believe it or not, at 13 minutes, this isn't the finished movie. Andrige, the creator of Heart of the Wild, has a 40 page script that he estimates will fill an hour and a half of movie time! Apparently he's even adding chapter links to the main video as he goes along! He describes the film as taking place during the invasion of Qiraji, but with his own twist to the story.Heart of the Wild is a beautiful machinima, where Modelview characters aren't the main focus, however there are some things to point out. There is a lot of text to read on the screen, and sometimes, it's not easy to read it. Voiceovers and voice acting would solve this problem if done right, or at the very least, he could make the text stand out more against the backdrop. This series has the potential to become wildly successful, so keep your eye on it![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Brace yourselves for Revenge of Akama, an epic 38 minute machinima by Fal Bulon, of Dei ex Machina. It has action, adventure, and excitement, among other things. Apparently it's the conclusion of a saga that focuses on Illidan, Malfurion, Tyrande, Akama, and Maiev. The main plotline for RoA centers around Illidan and his battle in the Outland. This is a well done movie, but unless you download it, you'll have a hard time reading the English subtitles, as the entire movie is in German. In addition, some feel that it mimics Burning Crusade: The Movie too closely. Nevertheless, it's an entertaining video, and we look forward to seeing what else Fal comes up with![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Life's a beach, and this orc is ready to party, in Beach Party 2: Endless Waves. When he moves to a new town, he thinks he'll never make friends, but then he stumbles onto the beach. Between surfing, saving the local hangout, and dancing the night away, his summer schedule is suddenly full, and he learns the meaning of love and friendship. This machinima, created by Jun Falkenstein, of Stone Falcon Productions, was created way back in November 2006. She created it to enter the Blizzard and Xfire 2006 Summer movie contest, where she won second prize in the Short Feature category. She employed a beach movie theme, which was wildly popular in the Frankie and Annette days of the 60s, yet it's still timeless enough to be featured these days.[Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

  • WoW Moviewatch: Rogues Do It From Behind, a Saphira interpretation

The submission deadline for the L70ETC music video contest has passed, and the contestants are starting to upload their work to Warcraftmovies. That's where we found this interpretation of Rogues Do It From Behind, by Saphira. This machinima was obviously model viewed, but I think the editor did a pretty good job, despite having quite an awful song to work with. Personally, I'd rather hear more from Gnomechewer's Lower City Gypsies.[Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Today's Moviewatch is a mystery that we're looking to solve. Pinkhair, a well-known 3D WoW machinimator that often helps others with their projects, has released a teaser for his upcoming movie, Succession. The film is due in Summer 2008, but the problem is that we have no clue what it's about!Pinkhair's work on this teaser was so good that many WCM commenters accused him of stealing scenes from a Blizzard cinematic trailer. However, he released a picture of his Arthas model to reassure them that the talent was all his. We'll just have to wait and see if the movie is worth it, as the clip is way too short to tell us anything.[Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Before Snacky's Journal, there was Beach Party 2. When an orc moves to a new town, he never thinks he'll have fun -- until he ends up on the beach. Soon he's making friends, surfing, partying, and even finding romance.Dating back to November 2006, it's a throwback to the silly beach-themed films of the 60s, typically starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. Jun Falkenstein, of Stone Falcon Productions, did an amazing job of capturing the essence of those movies. In fact, Blizzard and Xfire awarded her 2nd prize in the Short Feature category of the 2006 Summer movie contest![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

The weekend has finally arrived, so I decided to dig something silly out of the archives for you. This one is over a year old! "You're Pitiful" is Weird Al's take on the James Blunt song "You're Beautiful." In World of Warcraft, Drane translates the song into the subtle cries for help by a pathetic gnome. While I normally prefer the UI off in machinima, I thought that the commentary added in the video was pretty funny. In some ways, it's too literal, but then again, Drane appears to be known for his parodies, rather than original content. This music video certainly won't win any awards, but sometimes it's good to just laugh and be goofy every now and then.[Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

It's been 3 weeks since the last episode of Chronicle of the Annoying Quest. Episode 23 dealt with the Alliance preparing to fight the Horde in Warsong Gulch, however things don't go as planned. In Episode 24, the Horde finally arrive in Orgrimmar, while the Alliance are introduced to some interesting new characters.Bakasavant Productions has been working on this series for ages now, but I feel like it never gets any closer to a resolution. They've improved their editing skills immensely and have better voice actors these days, but those that are new to the series are forced to watch from the beginning to even understand what's going on. What is the ultimate goal at this point?[Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

With the sheer number of World of Warcraft machinimas produced daily, it's not hard for a talented up and comer to stay under the radar. Such was the case with Gnomechewer, who never received a recommendation from Warcraftmovies, yet captured the typically hostile audience of our sister site, WoW Insider. In the last 15 months, he's made 21 films, ranging from silly to quite stellar. One of his semi-recent films, Super Duper Ultimate Extreme Edition, is an excellent example of model-viewing done right. The background music, by Notorious B.I.G., only adds to the ambiance of the environment. SDUEE has all of the action, adventure, and excitement that you need from a WoW machinima. Gnomechewer will be the machinimator to watch in 2008!If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

Gnomechewer is apparently so over Level 70 Elite Tauren Cheiftain (L70ETC). In Through the Roof 'n' Underground, he ponders what it would be like if Lower City had a band, appropriately named the Lower City Gypsies. Using a song by Gogol Bordello with the same name as the video, he portrays a little village of gypsy folk dancing, singing, and weaving tales.Fans of Gnomechewer's faster-paced work may end up disappointed with this video. It has a slow development and focuses more on relationships among a group of people. Nevertheless, it's a well-done, beautiful story -- with cookies! What is it about Darrowshire and stunning machinima? This is the second video in about a month to come of the Eastern Plaguelands quest line. Last month, we featured the work of Cranius and his musical talents. Now we're pleased to feature a star-studded film by Firebolt Productions, Acolyte 1.5. You may recognize them from their second place win in the Warcraftmovies Christmas Spirit Contest, Ugly Goblin's Christmas.Acolyte 1.5 is not without faults, as it feels like half of the video has ads for websites. However, what we are finally presented with is an engaging storyline full of action and excitement. Don't miss the voice acting by Clint Hackleman, Drewbie, and Olibith, as well as the musical composition by Nathan Allen Pinard![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Khandy is back with the eagerly anticipated sequel to What Else is On! This time around, she's involved some celebrity guests, including Selserene and Legs. Three (real) female machinimators in the same (artistic) movie? Could this be a first? Some of my favorite moments in this film were the behind the scenes look at the sex scene in Selserene's upcoming film, finding out what race Tom Jones would be in WoW, and the background music in the blaxploitation clip! After yesterday's subliminal debacle, we need some quality time in front of the television. lagspikefilm, previously known for his runaway hit, Crossing Over, has invited us into Thrall's Crib. This parody of MTV Cribs is so inspired by the real deal that I wouldn't be surprised if MTV sought permission to air it, or, alternatively, cease and desist it.We're introduced to Thrall at the front of his pad, where he gives us a tour of his sweet rides, the room where the magic happens, and his unfortunate hair days. Fans of Cribs will notice every cut scene, musical choice, and even the sudden sped up footage. Lagspikefilm must watch a lot of MTV. Not only did he parody MTV Cribs in this World of Warcraft machinima, but we're embarassed to admit that he got it down to the letter. Not that we watch MTV or anything. We're too busy playing and reviewing MMOs!There are too many great parts in this video to mention them all, but some highlights from Thrall's Crib include epic mounts, embarassing hair, and the mature manner in which he faces problems. Next time we're ready to upgrade our pad in WoW, we'll be sure to consult this video for ideas. While there's no plot to speak of, MC3 has some really nice imagery. Done right, sometimes that's all you need. I just have one question for Bullshitmaster. It's been a couple of months since we last blogged about Chronicle of the Annoying Quest, but they've released another two episodes since then. Bakasavant Productions is practically rivaling Shepiwot in episode frequency! Admittedly, their machinimas are more effects-intensive than the How to Paladin series, though. In Episode 23, the Alliance prepare to fight the big, bad Horde in Warsong Gulch, but hit a snag in their plans. Brand new Warcraftmovies member, Antillion, created this machinima to honor his favorite song, Open Wounds, by Skillet. For the most part, I enjoyed the creativity involved in some of the scenes, as the lead was suffering from a broken heart. During the chorus was when you could really feel the emotions of the singer, as the gestures were decently timed. It wasn't too literal, or heavy with special effects either. However, first timers that extensively use Model Viewer will eventually learn to fear the wrath of TotalBiscuit's comments. Experimenting with those tools without mastering the basic level of video, which is in-game footage, is almost always a recipe for disaster. As evidenced in many of the scenes, he was unable to successfully transition the character from one moment to the next. With some more practice, he might create something really great![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Every now and then, we here at Massively want you to think of the little guy. For example, Hogger, the misunderstood gnoll. Despite being just a level 11 lowbie boss, he'll run with you wherever you want to go, which is exactly what Ganouille and friends did. They took him all the way to Undercity!
