this looks like a family kind of thing to me and i can see a few problems with it.
apart from those paid actors who wants to play a console with your family?
I have a hard enough time keeping everyone out my room, this looks like one more excuses for them.
could you image playing a FPS with this such as COD? it would be the equivalent of playing with a controller after having your hands in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Although i see the attraction,. this will not appeal to hardcore gamers.
User replaceable HD? or is it hidden?

Just saw a Hands-on on GT.. You can easily remove and replace the hard drive through a slot-like mechanism.. Looks awesome!

yeah but you can't swap it out with a off the shelf HD like you used to be able too. You'll have to buy the official MS one.
@admlshake yeah you can just not with the old ones it has to be with one of the newer hard drives designed to be internally in the device in my opinion much better much safer

At least my two PS3s are serving me nicely
and in this case i got both BEFORE sony started to take out PS2 and PS1 playback capabilities, so i guess buying early isnt always bad.

I wouldn't consider the PS3 Slim to be slim. It's just one of the refreshes they do towards the end of the life cycle. As ugly as it is if I haven't jumped for the Xbox already I would go for this. It's quieter and it's all round better. I wouldn't imagine a Viva Pinata player to understand. How much space do you need to fit your porn stash because you clearly dont get any real action. I'm a free man!
BTW extend our friend here some courtesy, at least he hasn't broke down in tears when you were really at rehab you twit.

why the heck would anyone want to refresh a console that has been out for so long, when they could spend their time making a newer and BETTER console with just the capabilities of playing back older games. i mean, as long as it has all of the older features and more, why the heck wouldnt you want to revamp the whole console in general. all they did this time was make an addon in essence.

Man...MSFT totally rocked the party!!! Amazing stuff coming to XBOX. I'm now seriously thinking of XBOX against the PS3.
But wanna wait and see what Sony has to offer.
@viditbhargava Am I the only one who found this entire think completely unimpressive? The price is still way to high, 'casual gaming' only works if the system is relatively cheap. $299 + $150 = $450 dollars, plus tax. That sucks. The slim system looks ugly, and isn't nearly as small as it should be. I was hoping for a much larger set of announcement, just anything really. How about media center built into the 360 and a cable in on the back? The slim 360 is still a fairly large system compared to the ps2 slim. Kinect is ...well, just another new gimmick that I will try a few times and then go back to playing regular games with controllers. This press conference sucked.
@nickyP why would you compare the new Xbox 360 to the PS2 slim instead of the PS3? I'm hoping that is a typo.
@nickyP No you aren't the only one. Lackuster motion games and nothing that surprised. A price point that all but guarantees the "casual" market will pass. Nice technology, and I want to get it... After the price drop.
