Microsoft, Sony, and others take the stage at Gamescom 2013 this week!

Hot off the heels of E3, Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft, EA, and others are presenting their latest and greatest at Gamescom this week in Cologne, Germany.

Microsoft held a press conference at 4AM EDT this morning, and announced new, exclusive titles (like Fable Legends), a free copy of FIFA 14 to every European Xbox One pre-orderer, as well as a new Indie Developer initiative called ID@XBOX which aims to make Xbox One the platform for small developers and games.

Sony announced a price decrease for their popular (and our Must-have) Vita mobile gaming system, as well as for Vita memory cards (which many thought were overpriced). They also announced developer initiatives, new games, and a firm release date for the PS4 of November 15th in North America, and November 29th in Europe.

Was there any information about either of the new, next-gen platforms you were hoping to get answered at Gamescom? Are there any games you're still hoping to see at launch for either system? Have you seen anything at Gamescom that has you excited for the upcoming holiday season?

Let us know!

It's crazy how a show that just started four years ago (2009) in a region that is usually ignored by game companies (Europe) just basically exploded into the largest games show in the world. Of course, I think it's like 90% due to the fact that being in August places it in a prime slot before the holiday buying season (I guess we're in the holiday ordering season for stores?).
