NPD's best-selling games of the decade charts 'Call of Duty' domination
As usual, the NPD group has rounded up sales stats for the last month, but with the flip from 2019 to 2020 it is also listing some of the best sellers over the last ten years. Grand Theft Auto V is the best selling game across all platforms and outlets tracked from 2010 through the end of 2019, but otherwise the top ten is dominated by the Call of Duty series, with Red Dead Redemption at number 7 and Minecraft at number 10 as the only other titles. The developers say the decision is "bittersweet to say the least," as the games marked "defining entries" in Naughty Dog's history. But you've still got time to get your fill, as the servers will remain intact until September 3rd. And, as part of a fitting send-off, Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us will be totally free on PS3 until then -- get the bundle from the PlayStation Store.
Sony bumps up PlayStation Plus cloud storage limit to 100 GB
One of the major selling points of PlayStation Plus (beyond "free" games and online play) is it offers cloud backups for your game saves and profiles. From early next month, members will have vastly more room to play with, as Sony's boosting the storage capacity from 10 GB to 100 GB. It's a welcome change, as it should help players free up more hard drive space and offer more flexibility for those who want to continue their progress on another system.
'FIFA 19' demo gives you an early taste of The Journey this week
It's that time of year again: FIFA demo season. The demo's 2019 installment for, you guessed it FIFA 19, will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One September 13th, around two weeks before the full game. The playable teaser features 10 teams total including UEFA Champions League clubs Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
