It's been awhile since we heard from The TES Renewal Project regarding their mission to recreate The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind using the engine of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, but a new trailer reveals that the island nation of Morrowind isn't just continuing its extensive makeover, it's almost ready for visitors. "Skywind," as the mod is known, is nearing public alpha release. But just how near is it, and what will it contain? Don't ask: "Do NOT inquire about it in the comments or the website yet, it will be revealed in time exactly what a public developer release is," reads the above dev video's YouTube description. The mod has been in development for some time. As a fan project, it requires plenty of volunteers to create textures, models and do voice work. Which hey, would you look at that: there's a sign-up page for anyone with the talent and interest to do just that. Convenient! [Image: The TES Renewal Project]

Skywind, the mod to recreate The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind inside of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, is chugging along like a Siltstrider on its way to Seyda Neen - which, to those who may not be aware of what a Siltstrider is, means well. It's coming along well. The team behind the mod, calling itself the TES Renewal Project, has just released a new dev diary showcasing their progress on several fronts, including new voice acting, models, animations, textures and music. The video also serves as something of a recruitment reel, as the process of bringing Skywind to completion requires many helping hands. It's almost like re-building an island nation of giant mushrooms and flying jellyfish monsters is hard or something. If you want to help out and serve the TES Renewal Project as a modeler, artist, writer or voice actor, be sure to read up on the contributor guidelines via their official site. • Pantech's blow-controlled Sky Wind not for the faint of breath

Using our powers of huffing and puffing is nothing new when it comes to device interaction -- even our Wii remote has doubled as an ocarina at some point -- but Pantech's looking to take it a step further with the Korea-bound IM-S410K Sky Wind. Powered by Fantalog Interactive's Emotion Engine software, the device recognizes short and long blows via the microphone and uses it for switching wallpapers, adjusting screen brightness, and -- in a less gimmicky use -- snapping photos with a blast of air while stabilizing the phone with both hands. It also sports movement detection with the camera and relative motion control via accelerometer. Pantech's got a three-year exclusivity agreement on the engine, so expect to see wind recognition touted in more than a few upcoming phones.
