BioShock shakes hands with Stepford in 'We Happy Few'
Smile for the camera -- and for the TV, and during the walk to the store, and while you're sitting in the living room, in the dark, all alone. Smile, because if you don't, they will come for you. That's the story behind the first trailer for We Happy Few, the new game from Compulsion Studios, maker of PlayStation 4 launch game Contrast. We Happy Few features a "drug-fueled, retrofuturistic city in an alternative 1960s England," filled with citizens with permanent smiles literally affixed to their faces. It's creepy, unsettling and cheerful all at the same time. Think BioShock with a splash of V for Vendetta and a smattering of picture-perfect Stepford. "I will say that Bioshock wasn't a direct inspiration, it's just that our interests have kind of always aligned with Irrational's games (people made the same comparison with Contrast)," Compulsion marketing director Sam Abbott says. "It's a pretty daunting comparison, given that we're less than one-tenth their size."
Warner to finally bring V for Vendetta to Blu-ray
Although Warner was officially format neutral for the duration of the format war, for the most part, the big W leaned Red. The most obvious sign of Red bias was the twenty some HD DVD exclusives that included some of Warner's hottest titles. Recently we learned that Batman Begins will be released on Blu in July, and now it seems that V for Vendetta will hit first in May -- the twentieth to be exact. As much as we love both of these movies, the one we really can't wait for is still MIA. So how about it Warner, when exactly can we watch the one in HD on Blu-ray? Warner's 2008 Blu-ray release plan
Now that Warner (somehow related to Engadget) has dedicated its movies to Blu-ray, they're getting serious about delivering and it all starts with a plan. Of course as we know all too well, thing don't always go according to plan -- you know like HD DVD's that are supposed to be delayed by three weeks showing up on stores shelves. Anyways, the plan for '08 is to release a Blu-ray disc day and date with every new release, and every DVD special edition. At the same time Warner is planning on catching Blu-ray up to HD DVD with some of their most sought after titles including, Batman Begins (Q3), V for Vendetta and yes of course The Matrix trilogy-- no dates on these, just another promise of "this year."

Warner adds 7 high-def releases for October 31
Warner Home Video might have had to cut sales projections but are still supporting HD, announcing three HD DVD releases and four Blu-ray discs due on October 31st. The highest profile title of the seven is V for Vendetta which will include Warner's In Movie Experience (IME), to view director commentary while the movie plays in the background. Joining V on HD DVD are Excalibur and Under Siege. Under Siege is also making its Blu-ray bow on the same day, along with The Phantom of the Opera, Searchers and Unforgiven. All will include the extras present on the standard DVD version -- no 1080p HD extras, 50GB discs or 30/9 combos here -- and we don't expect them given their $28.98 MSRP. Our Google Calendars are of course updated with the releases. Blu-ray may be catching up a bit, with one extra release, but we're sure some who were lucky enough to get a PS3 pre-order are looking to see when V for Vendetta crosses into the Blu.HD DVD release scheduleBlu-ray release schedule
