  • Samsung W619 gets peeped

It hasn't been long since this sucker graced the FCC with its presence, albeit with just a little (okay, a lot) less detail than we'd like. Once again the W619 makes our radar, but this time it bears Anycall branding, so it's looking like a probable release for Samsung's domestic market. With features like a dual band CDMA / GSM radio, 2 megapixel camera, and a 4.2 ounce weigh-in, it seems like a bit of a lightweight by Korean standards -- but hey, not every phone can occupy the high end, right?[Via Just Another Mobile Phone Blog]

  • Samsung's HSDPA-enabled SPH-W2400 does DMB TV

Samsung's SPH-W2400, which we spotted a month or so ago thanks to the FCC, finally has a face and a few more details to boot. The snazzy Anycall-built slider sports a unique rotating screen, DMB TV tuner, a two-megapixel camera, MP3 player, Bluetooth, microSD slot, TV out, language translation software, and HSDPA connectivity. Best of all, it appears that this phone will basically work in every corner of the modern world, but sadly, we've no idea where you'll actually find one for sale nor how much you'll be asked to cough up for it once you do.

  • Keepin' it real fake, part LVII: Ultimate knockoff phone rips four separate brands

We get a wee bit excited round here when brands collide to create interesting new spinoffs, but this handset is full-on ridiculous. Our creative Asian friends weren't happy with a simple gaming handset, they had to bust out a Windows Mobile-esque OS, with a dash of faux PSP, a splash of Nintendo all wrapped in almost Anycall. Notice that great big PSP logo on the back? Well that's all there is for Sony content here, the handset is actually loaded with NES games and Pac-Man? Of course, we have to congratulate on the Samsung F520 double slider thing going on here, we feel that this is definitely a winning idea, but of course this handset only copies and is definitely not the brainchild of Samsung. Packing dual-band GSM a-la 900 / 1800, a 1.3 megapixel shooter, a touchscreen, and support for up to 2GB of memory, the mystery manufacturer handset definitely has the goods. This is without a doubt the pinnacle of Keepin' It Real Fake fare, and we think this could only be topped by some clever use of iPhone branding and maybe a Coca-Cola color scheme. This one won't be hitting carriers over here, but at the end of the day, who really cares? We are justifiably in awe.

  • The Samsung SCH-B6550: like the U740, but not

Yeah, so this is how Sammy does up a dual-hinge flip in its domestic market. It looks a good deal like the U740 that we get over here -- in fact, if it weren't orange, it'd be a dead ringer from the outside -- but flip 'er open and you'll notice that the QWERTY keypad we get here has been replaced by a more traditional numeric type. The reason? Well, it seems the SCH-B6550 here does T-DMB mobile TV, so it'd make sense that users would want a convenient way of setting it on a surface and getting their couch potato on. Like the U740, the B6550 does 1.3 megapixels from its camera, but ups the display from 220 x 176 to full QVGA resolution. We're not sure how we feel about the orange, but then again, we're not sure how we feel about the original U740's champagne, either.

More beauty from Samsung today and this time in the form of a triple-band GSM handset using 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz with a sprinkling of 3G -- though no word on what type. Like its siblings (the SCH-B660, SPH-B6600, and SPH-B6650) the Z248 comes with interchangeable front and rear covers in pearl white, scarlet red, indigo blue, blue jean (our fave, of course), sweet pink, glam gold, and lemon green. Packing a 1.3 megapixel camera, built-in Google search, 2.1 inch front and 128 X 32 external screens, we warmed up to its flipping beauty in a flash. Samsung unveiled its ultra thin, ultra cool, and ultra white HSDPA enabled Anycall SPH-W2700 yesterday; and while it is not radically new and fresh (think Sony Ericsson Z800, check that rotating camera), it has a certain beautiful aura about it. Features include a 2.3 inch TFT LCD (which if true to Samsung form, will be gorgeous), a 0.8 inch external OLED display, triple-band GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz plus 2100 MHz in the 3G department (le sigh). While we're sure it'll never hit on these shores, we can stare and adore from afar -- sadly, from very very afar. [Via Mobilewhack]

  • Samsung's SPH-W2500 slider with HSDPA

We're noticing a trend -- anyone think this thing looks like a healthy portion of the sliders Samsung has loosed in recent history? Sure, 13.8 millimeters is nice for a slider and all, but it's by no means groundbreaking; same goes for the 2 megapixel primary and VGA front-facing cameras, microSD slot, and media support. That being said, we're hard-pressed to dis any 3G phone that's managed to make it all the way to the FCC's hallowed halls, so we're going to cut the criticism right here and cross our fingers for an expedient arrival on US shores.

  • Samsung's "color jacket" phone with seven color options

We've been painstakingly waiting for some new concept in changeable faceplates and handset color schemes to come along since Nokia basically invented that market six or seven years ago swappable faceplates. Hey, if Apple can be successful with fruity-colored iMacs, why can't cellphone manufacturers, right? Anyway, Samsung's new 'color jacket phone' for its home-field Anycall brand of handsets in South Korea looks to have seven interchangeable covers to choose from. And, to get those adjective-based minds racing, the colors offered will include scarlet red, pearl white, indigo blue, blue jean, sweet pink, gram gold, and lemon green. Some of those sound good enough to eat -- except the denim one.

  • Samsung SCH-W559 touts vibrating VibeTonz touchscreen

Although Immersion's VibeTonz technology has been integrated into various Samsung handsets in the past, the shakin' technology was previously limited to ring tone and gaming enhancements. Today, however, Samsung is launching the keypad-less SCH-W559, which is the self-proclaimed "world's first" handset to utilize the VibeTonz system as a means of tactile feedback. The unit's QVGA touchscreen is meant to be a hands-on experience, and whether you use a stylus or the tips of your finger, the phone will provide a vibrating cue, which can be adjusted and customized within the phone's software, whenever you touch a virtual button. Immersion claims that its technology allows the on-screen buttons to feel more like "mechanical keys" rather than just a sheet of plastic. The device will be launching solely on China Unicom initially, will support both CDMA / GSM networks, and will feature a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, handwriting recognition capability, and audio / video playback functions to boot. Of course, users will be able to pimp out their ringtones with integrated buzzing, and while we're not sure how much Samsung plans on charging for the rumbler, we can't wait for it to start shaking things up here on American soil.[Thanks, Peter S.]

  • Samsung launches SPH-B5800 T-DMB phone with TPEG integration

Although Samsung has already crammed T-DMB support into a plethora of its (sometimes oddly-designed) handsets, the sleek SPH-B5800 gets the honor of being the "world's first" that also integrates TPEG. While we knew the firm was working on the Transport Protocol Experts Group service last year, this phone marks the "first time" users can expect to receive live updates "about traffic, nice restaurants," or other points of interest surrounding them. Reportedly, the phone will receive new information "every five minutes" depending on your location, and will show a route and expected arrival time for any destination that perks the user's interest. On the DMB side, it purportedly sports a "full list of channels" to keep you occupied while cruising in the backseat. Other features on this snazzy slider include a 2-megapixel camera, electronic dictionary, "My Pet" game (long lost Tamagotchi sibling?), file viewer, and support for audio book playback. So if you're anxious to let your phone dictate where you eat for supper, you can snag the SPH-B5800 later this month for around 600,000KRW ($645).[Via AVing]
