Guild Wars 2 players pledge oath to game in video
Stop pinching yourself in a futile effort to wake up from what you think is an absurd dream. The Guild Wars 2 marketing promotion to ask players to pledge their allegiance to the game actually happened. We know this because we now have video proof of the fact. ArenaNet released a complilation video of players filling in the blanks of their own oaths to play the game (in exchange for a shot at a free copy of it, it must be said). From the adorkable to the bizarre and the cows to the cheap flame effects, this video has it all. And best of all, you can watch it in the privacy of your home with no one to judge you after the break.
Blitz burly bovines before bovines blitz beneficiados
All of our MMOs sometimes have odd festivals, but they don't get odder than Final Fantasy XI's annual Buffalo Blitz. Each year during this festival buffalo are released into Ronfaure, Sarutabaruta, and Gustaberg, the starting areas outside of each city, and players must help the mog house moogles in wrangling them up!Wrangling one of the herds of buffalo is as easy (or as complicated) as approaching a herd and seeing how they react to you. Use their behavior to lead them into one of the moogles stationed in the zone and claim some of the event rewards! It's silly, and it's fun, and it gets you stuff. What's not to like about that? This year's Buffalo Blitz starts on September 25th, but the buffalo will run off into the sunset on October 5th.
Cow milking robots
Swedish company DeLaval specializes in "cow comfort" products including the Voluntary Milking System. You see, a cozy independent cow is a happy cow and that makes for an increase in milk yield, dig? The VMS is powered by embedded Linux 2.4.18 running on an AMD Geode GX1 200MHz processor - a single system can milk a herd of 60 cows three times a day. This gives farmers more time to kick back, relax and presumably drunk-milk their friends and pets. When the cow feels the need, she enters the stall where a laser and photo-sensor guided robotic arm searches for, cleans, and then milks each of the four teats. Milk flow, quantity and time is monitored and compared to historical data as early indicators of illness or injury. Be sure to check out the vids for plenty of hot lactating bovine action.
