Today, EA will hold The Jacksonville Tribute Stream to remember Elijah Clayton and Taylor Robertson, the professional gamers who were killed in a shooting at a Madden 19 tournament. Since its purpose is to bring the community together to support everyone affected by the tragic incident last August 26th, the gaming giant is making the livestream as accessible as possible. You can choose to watch and follow the tribute later today, September 6th from 5PM to 6:30PM ET, on the game's official Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Mixer accounts. If you have a cable provider that gives you access to ESPN's streams, you can also go that route.

As a part of its ongoing response to the shooting at a Madden Classic esports event on Sunday, EA has established a fund to support victims of the incident, including the families of Taylor Robertson and Elijah Clayton, the two competitors who were killed. The company kicked in $1 million and said it is "working" to set up a fund where others can contribute. While news on that should be available soon, it set a date for a Jacksonville Tribute Livestream on September 6th, citing those in the community that have asked for a way to provide support and "show that this horrific event will not define us, but only serve to make our community stronger."

Multiple people have been killed and others injured at a mass shooting during a Madden 19 tournament at the GLHF Game Bar in Jacksonville, Florida. Details of what happened are still incoming, but the incident took place in the middle of a qualifying round and reportedly left at least three dead and eleven injured, one of which includes a suspect who appears to have shot themselves. One of the wounded includes CompLexity Gaming competitor Drini Gjoka, who escaped with a grazed thumb.

  • Jacksonville Jaguars get the world's biggest LED-lit HD displays, little else

The Jacksonville Jaguars don't exactly generate much excitement on EverBank Field. However, they'll soon have something attention-worthy above that field: a pair of the world's largest LED-lit, HD-capable displays. Daktronics is installing end zone screens at the stadium that each measure 362 ft. wide by 60 ft. high, handily eclipsing the 200 ft. by 80 ft. panel at Charlotte Motor Speedway. All that visual real estate will serve up to three HD replay videos at once, even as it shows the (likely dismal) score. The setup is overkill for a football team whose chances of a Super Bowl are currently very slim. Look at it this way, though -- at least the move gives the Jaguars something to lord over their more successful rivals.

It looks like Comcast's trial bubble has been something of a success, and now the company is announcing that its Xfinity Home Security Service will be branching out beyond Houston to arm alarms, dim lamps and keep home automation freaks appraised of sports scores in an additional six markets (including Philadelphia, Portland, Jacksonville, Sarasota/Naples, Chattanooga and Nashville). Powered by iControl Networks' Open Home automation and security platform, packages start at $40 a month and feature live video monitoring, lighting and climate control, burglar and fire alarm monitoring, and more -- via touchscreen interface, web portal, and iPhone app. Now you too can put your family's safety in the same hands that bring Gilligan's Island into your home! Video, PR-palooza after the break.

Jacksonville residents looking for a new take on the evening news can finally see their dreams come true. As of now, WJXT -- an independent station serving the Florida city and its surrounding communities -- is broadcasting its newscasts in high-definition. At first, the noon broadcast will be the only one in HD, though other airings should follow suit in short order. Locals who rely on DISH Network and DirecTV will sadly be unable to enjoy the new look without an OTA antenna, though WJXT vice president and general manager John Rafferty has assured us that its high-def signal will be picked up by both "soon."[Thanks, Eric]

We assumed that the solo addition in Houston was an anomaly, but it seems that Comcast may be pushing these stragglers in more locales than that. Out of nowhere, the carrier has added Travel Channel HD in Jacksonville, Florida, a followup of sorts to the two it added just weeks ago. Moral of the story? If you're a Comcast user, be on the lookout for one or two here and there, you just might get lucky.[Thanks, Matthew]

So, what's it like being a Comcast subscriber in Jacksonville, Florida? You know -- to pay oodles of cash for a service and get high-def stations dropped on you in twos and threes rather than by the dozen? From the outside looking in, it's tough to say if the slow and steady approach is actually admired or loathed, but whatever your feelings on the matter, two more are headed to the Florida city. As of now, locals can find Cartoon Network HD and E! HD tucked away in the EPG, and if history is any judge, you will all be seeing a couple more in a month or two. Fingers crossed![Thanks, Matthew]

  • AT&T Total Home DVR rollout reaches final ten markets, it's really over

Got U-Verse? Then you should have the Total Home DVR record on one box / stream to all functionality now that AT&T's rollout has finished ahead of schedule. Up in all 69 markets where the IPTV service has a foothold, the final ten markets launched today were: Bakersfield, Dayton, Green Bay, Jacksonville, Little Rock, Miami, South Bend, Tulsa, West Palm Beach and Wichita. Honestly, we're not sure what AT&T (or us for that matter) will do now that it's over, the leading candidates are a "Remember the Rollout" reunion tour in early '09, or the somewhat less likely possibility that confused AT&T techs start adding the functionality to random areas without U-Verse service.

While Verizon announced that its FiOS TV service would soon be making its way into a number of new locales this past week, AT&T took the liberty of giving residents in Jacksonville, Florida and South Bend, Indiana another choice for television programming. For folks in one of the two aforesaid cities that are fed up with Comcast's less-than-consumer-friendly tactics, they can now turn their eyes to AT&T's fiber-based basket of services for TV, high-speed internet and digital phone. If your community isn't covered just yet, keep on calling -- the carrier has asserted that it'll make U-verse available to more parts of both cities on an ongoing basis.Read - Jacksonville expansionRead - South Bend expansion

Comcast isn't known for adding in vast quantities of high-definition channels in Jacksonville, but rather, it prefers to spice up the northern Florida city with a few at a time -- to keep things "interesting," we presume. Whatever the case, a local has just noticed that the carrier has added in Fox News HD, SPEED HD and FX HD, making them the first newcomers in the area since late June. Hang tight Jacksonville, maybe you'll get a whopping four new ones next time.[Thanks, Matthew]

AMC HD and TLC HD aren't showing up in the online channel listings for Jacksonville, Florida, but you can rest assured that they're showing up on the tele. Here recently, Comcast has added the two stations on slot 429 and 425, respectively, and we honestly wouldn't be surprised to see the closely held pair move about to even more locales. If you'll recall, this very duo showed up in late April in Atlanta, but we haven't heard anything one way or the other about further expansion.[Thanks, Chris]

Another week, another report of Comcast's favorite trio popping up elsewhere in the country. This go 'round, Science HD, Disney HD and ABC Family HD have shown up to delight subscribers in Jacksonville, Florida, but considering that they just arrived in Atlanta, we suppose the drive down wasn't all that hectic, anyway. You know the drill -- keep your eyes peeled, your EPG may be the next to get infiltrated.[Thanks, Matthew]

Not planning on heading to the Windy City just to check out one of those fanciful new aloft hotels? How's about Jacksonville, Florida? Sure enough, one of the aforementioned hotels is heading to the Sunshine State, and it's slated to include 136 HDTV-equipped guest rooms when it welcomes guests in next January. Aimed at "youthful-minded travelers," the building is being constructed with a number of "intuitive technologies and atmospheric public spaces." aloft Jacksonville Airport, as it'll properly be known, will be located just minutes away from JAX and under a half-hour from the downtown area. No word on HDTV programming that'll be available nor nightly rates, but it won't be long now before you can find out in person.

Good news for Comcast users across the nation (and particularly for those in the Southeast): it seems the firm's recent HD expansion efforts are affecting more areas than just Washington, D.C. and South Carolina. Based on user reports originating in Jacksonville, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia, the channels added to the DC / SC lineups have made their way to the Peach and Sunshine states. For those needing a refresher, that includes USA HD, TLC HD, History Channel HD, Sci-Fi HD, CNN HD, Animal Planet HD and Discovery Channel HD. Additionally, it sounds as if ATLiens are also being blessed with Travel Channel HD, but we've nothing official to back that up with just yet. So, with more of the US getting all these newcomers, have any of you Comcast users in other locales seen additions in your EPG? Let's hear it![Thanks, Abby and Matthew P.]
