Japan's Mouse Computer -- best known for their effeminately named LuvBooks -- is trying-on hardcore this morning by dressing up a couple of middling rigs in chain wallets, wife-beater Ts, and Vista Ultimate in hopes of nabbing a gaming PC classification. Let's pop the hood and see shall we? The MASTERPIECE series (pictured) tops out with a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo E6600 processor, 2GB of 333MHz PC2-5300 memory, 512MB of GeForce 7950 GT graphics, and 320GB of unspecified RPM disk. That's the high-end box mind you. The NEXTGEAR series tops-out with a 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo E6300, 2GB of RAM, 250GB of disk, and 256MB of GeForce 7900GS graphics... oh, puleeease. No dual-graphics option, quad-core QX6700 or Q6600 processors, or even an overclocked Core 2 Duo Extreme X6800 in the bunch. Then again, these kits won't set you back $10k either. Expect a well-equipped Masterpiece to hit later this month for ¥219,870 (about $1,813) while the Nextgear slides in at ¥179,970 (about $1,484) -- sans monitor and Japan only... which is fine by us.

If LG's morning laptop offerings didn't get you too excited, this new one from MCJ (Mouse Computer Japan) has little prospect of doing so -- but at least they've got a good pricetag slapped onto this new LuvBook i220FX-W laptop of theirs. MCJ is slumming it with a 1.6GHz T5500 Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of RAM, 60GB HDD, dual-layer DVD burner, and a 1280 x 800 15.4-inch display. The good news is that they've also stuffed a 1.3 megapixel webcam inside the 1.3-inch thick laptop, and at a mere 129,990 Yen ($1102 US) all this mediocrity shouldn't break the bank. It should be available now direct from MCJ, with Linux and OS-free versions available for the hax0rs.[Via Akihabara]

Japan's Mouse Computer (MCJ) brings us their latest budget laptop, the LuvBook i1200DW. Sportin' the 1.66GHz Core Duo T2300E, this LuvBook features a 12.1-inch LCD with 1280 x 800 resolution, 512MB of DDR2 memory (2GB max), 60GB disk, dual-layer DVD burner, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, and integrated Intel 945GM Express graphics. And this 24~32-millimeter (0.94~1.26-inch) wedge also packs 4 x USB 2.0 ports, Firewire, modem, multi-format memory card reader, and an ExpressCard slot into that 4.1-pound slab. Nothing really to love here, or hate-on either especially with a price of ¥130,000 (about $1,121) which ain't bad for Core Duo action in Japan. Still with a name like "LuvBook" we were expecting a little fahrvergnügen at the very least. [Via Impress]

Yeah, we know it hurts to read about those mega-spec'd and monster priced, Blu-ray Disc recording desktops when you're lean on the mean, mean, green. That's why we present you with the Mouse Computer Japan (MCJ) MDV-EXTREME 7530GX. For about $2,780, you get that BD recorder (which on its own will fetch about $1000), a 2.2GHz Athlon 64 X2 4400 CPU, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 500GB of disk, and NVIDIA GeForce 7900GTX with 512MB of dedicated video RAM. Not bad. Oh, did we tell you these are shipping in Japan-only starting 29 May? Still kinda hurts, huh?[Via Akihabara News]
