It may not be quite as whimsical as some of Panasonic's other robots, but the company's new "Parallel link" manufacturing bot might just be one of the most important the company's developed in some time. Not only does it boast a 50% reduction in power consumption compared to some traditional one-armed manufacturing robots, but it's able to learn new tasks simply by having someone move its arm through the motions. It also supposedly has an "affordable" price, although we're guessing it's still a bit out of reach if you're just looking for something to help out around the house. Head on past the break to check it out in action.

  • Hands-on with Panasonic's tru2way set-back box

We searched high and low on the show floor for signs of tru2way and in the back of the Panasonic booth we found the new set-back box we told you about. The box uses the VESA mounting holes so it might make it tough to use with some wall mounts. It wasn't a working demo so we didn't get to see how well the integration was with the TV, but the representative from the company seemed to believe that the box would be designed to only work with Panasonic TVs -- we assume it verifies via HDMI-CEC what type of TV it is connected to. With most cable companies still not ready for retail tru2way devices, and almost no manufactures showing tru2way HDTVs at CES, it seems that 2010 will not be the year for adoption, which leaves next year and by then so much can change who knows if anyone will still care. %Gallery-82747%

CEATEC is pumpin' out the HD goods fast and furious now. Here's the latest AVCHD camcorder prototype from Panasonic. Although clearly different from the first Panny AVCHD recorder we peeped last week, it shares much the same specs including 3CCDs capable of capturing video at 1080i to SD/SDHC cards. This fully functional prototype, however, brings a Leica DICOMAR lens with 12x optical zoom, image processing LSI, and HDMI out. No word on pricing or ship date but hey, flaunt 'em if you gotta 'em Panny. More snaps after the break.
