If you're like us, you're constantly on the hunt for a laptop which will bring balance to the Force, unite all nations, and really rock a decent configuration for not a lot of dough. Enter the PC-Koubou Lesance NB, the Santa Rosa based, GeForce 8400 sporting answer to your prayers. The 13.3-inch laptop features a Core 2 Duo T7300 (2GHz) processor, 1GB of memory, and a 100GB hard drive, plus connectivity options like USB, Firewire, eSATA, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/n, and SD, MMC and Memory Stick Pro support. The whole harmonious, peace-loving package will run you around $1215, but you'll have to go to Japan to get it -- which is probably a step in the wrong direction if you're buying a budget laptop.

Sure, PC Koubou's new Amphis MT729C2D-NV8 isn't going to give you the same blazing performance as a Crossfire- or SLI-equipped machine, but at only €1,100 ($1,445), you're also entering a price range that the Alienwares, Voodoos, and XPS's of the world don't even attempt to approach. Still, don't think you're being saddled with crappy components here: this Vista-powered machine sports a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo E6600, your choice of a 320MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS or 768MB GeForce 8800 GTX, either 2GB or 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, DVD burner, and six USB 2.0 ports. Of course the down side is that you're gonna have to hoof it over to Japan to pick one of these up, but hey, you really deserve a vacation anyway.

Fan of 17-inch laptops are ya? Good, PC-Koubou has this 1920x1200 (WUXGA) Lesance CL706GW-C2D-GT up for grabs in Japan with a base-config touting Intel's 2GHz T7200 Core 2 Duo processor, some beefy 512MB GeForce Go 7950GTX graphics, 2GB DDR2 memory and 100GB 5400rpm SATA disk, ExpressCard/54 slot, 1.3 megapixel cam in the upper bezel, multi-format memory card reader and DVI, S-Video, and SPDIF outs. Not bad for ¥269,980 (about $2351) right? Oh, did we mention that this 2-inch, 8.8-pound sled only runs about 1-hour 40-minutes on battery? Ok, so highly portable it isn't, but not a bad deal for an all-singing, all dancing, budget desktop replacement if you're living in ultra-expensive Japan. [Via Impress]

We know that it's a bit of a tease to keep featuring products that will never be available in the US, but we figure that if you're not down with foreign devices, you probably would have stopped visiting this site long ago (or maybe you just skip over these types of posts). Anyway, the latest look-but-don't-touch model comes from Japanese manufacturer PC-Koubou -- the same company that dropped seven new laptops on us not too long ago -- who just announced the impending release of its 15.4-inch Lesance AS520AW-DUO gaming notebook. As you probably guessed from the model number, this Windows XP Home Edition-powered machine sports an Intel Core Duo processor of the 1.83GHz T2400 variety, along with ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics (featuring 256MB of VRAM), a 1,200 x 800 pixel display, 1GB of 533MHz DDR2 RAM, and a 60GB hard drive running at 5,400 RPM. Also along for the ride are an ExpressCard slot (though no PCMCIA), 8x DVD super-duper multi drive, and four USB 2.0 ports, though WiFi and Bluetooth are nowhere to be found. If you happen to be visiting Japan starting next month, you can snatch one of these beauties up for just $1,371.[Via MobileWhack]

Japanese manufacturer PC-Koubou has just released seven new laptops, including two featuring Core Duo processors. The 12-inch Lesance NB QU207IW-DUO laptop seen here comes loaded with a Core Duo T2300 1.66GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 60GB HD, and Intel 945G chipset in a 2 kg package (4.4 pounds) retailing for 139,980 Yen (or just over $1,240US). The other Core Duo-based unit, the CL516IN-DUO-GT, packs the same specs in a larger laptop with a 15-inch SXGA screen and is a bit cheaper at 129,980 Yen, or about $1,150US. Also somewhat notable is the CL511RN-M, which features a Pentium M 750 (1.86GHz) processor, 1GB RAM, and slightly more capable ATI Radeon Mobility X700 graphics, along with a glossy 15-inch SXGA screen - it runs 149,980 Yen ($1,330US). The remaing four are all fairly run of the mill, with all but one using Celeron M processors and ranging in price from 81,980 to 129,980 Yen ($727 to $1,150US). As you've probably guessed, these are all available only in Japan.
