Casio's Transformers G-Shock is Optimus Prime's ticking heart
As leader of the Autobots, you'd think that Optimus Prime would always know what time it is. However, Casio, in collaboration with Transformer toymaker Takara Tomy, Casio has unveiled a special edition Transformer with a G-Shock watch installed right in his heart. The promotion celebrates the 35th anniversary of G-Shock, and the 35th anniversary of the Transformers in 2019, Casio said.
Dyson Air Multiplier fans grow up to Tower and Pedestal dimensions
James Dyson seems to have made the manipulation of air his life's mission, and his most recent product, the "bladeless" desktop fan, has apparently enjoyed enough success to merit an expanded range. You'll soon be able to splash a cool $450 on either of the elongated Tower (above left) or Pedestal Air Multipliers. They function along the same principles as the original: air is stirred up (by blades!) in the base and then thrust through the circumference of the device to deliver cool, calming, and buffet-free chills to your overworked self. Mind you, Dyson's keen to point out that only 7 percent of the air comes from its impeller-driven base -- most of the flow comes from "the inducement and entrainment of surrounding air." Boy, the company sure is getting its money's worth out of that thesaurus purchase. If you want to read more of this highfalutin stuff, go past the break for the full press release. Put your iPod on a pedestal
Looking for an offbeat but iPod-themed gift? From about $30, you can buy a funky looking iPod stand from podstands.com of Westshore Craftworks. The products seem to come in a couple of flavors. There are the stands that hold up your iPod but use your normal sync cable to connect to the computer. And there are the iDockCovers that fit over the standard 3G and 4G docks with jack cutaways so you can still plug everything in where it belongs. I'm not a big "guitar-shape" or "piano shape" fan, but the circular hardwood stands look very nice if a bit on the expensive side.
