You didn't think HTC was just going let you run wild with an unlocked bootloader and not require some sort of trade-off, did you? Of course not, that's why CEO Peter Chou updated the firm's Facebook page to spill the beans on the devil's deal. Yes, you'll be given the freedom to unlock your bootloader, but only after you accept a disclaimer notifying you that "all or parts" of your warranty may be null and void. After that it's all SDKs, device identifier tokens and unlock keys. It may be a little disappointing to discover that the official unlock procedure lacks complete support, but nobody ever said that freedom was without its risks. Chou reiterated that updates for the HTC Sensation and HTC EVO 3D will come later this month, making them the first devices eligible to lose their warranty use the unlock tool. • Found Footage: Bose headphones grafted onto Apple inline remote

Our buddies over at Engadget turned us on to this short video, in which modder Freddy Deeble created a sonic hybrid -- a pair of Bose headphones using an Apple inline remote. If you're handy with a pair of wire cutters, a small screwdriver, and a soldering iron, then you can mimic how Mr. Deeble achieved the best of both worlds with his little mod. Not only does he get better audio quality from the over-the-ear Bose 'phones than he would from a standard pair of Apple earbuds or in-ear headphones, but he also gets to keep that sweet little inline "squeezably soft" remote. TUAW, of course, takes no responsibility for any damage you may cause to your Bose headphones, your Apple earbuds with remote, or yourself if you do this. And your warranties? Consider 'em gone... Enjoy the video, and stay safe, kids.

  • Bloody well done 360 Case Mod

Fanboy David Hinkle sent us a link to a very well put together case mod. It's so well put together, in fact, that we'll ignore what kind of "fanboy" he is. Midianad.com has made a Blood Splattered Case mod, complete with obligatory hand print on the left side/bottom, and views of the console's innards on the right side/top. It looks very sharp would do any Dead Rising or Gears of War enthusiast proud, and definitely beats out the Diamond case reported earlier. What's most disturbing is that it almost does too good of a job looking like blood, and makes us wonder where, or from whom, did he get the material to do so. Anyway, major props are in order for either making such a convincing case mod, or blatantly flaunting the evidence without getting caught. Side view and picture of the case mod installed after the break.
