The last Wii keyboard we saw was pretty hellaciously ugly, but Logitech's take on the much-needed peripheral is actually fairly sleek. The all-white keyboard doesn't quite have the flair of the diNovo Mini, but it does have full-size keys, and for $50 it isn't bad -- and it's officially licensed by Ninty, so there are dedicated zoom, quit, forward / back, and OK buttons. Sadly, however, it's not Bluetooth -- there's a proprietary 2.4GHz USB receiver -- but you can't win 'em all. Should be available in August.

Next time you sit down to write your Great American Novel, perhaps you should consider tapping the opus out on your Wii with Logic 3's weird and somewhat awful -- though excellently named -- Wii Keyboard. There's not much meat on these bones -- it's simply an add-on for Nintendo's console that allows you to type on a QWERTY pad rather than light-sabering all over your apartment to name your new Mii "Death Bringer." The 'board is due out July 18th (in the UK at least) and will nab a tidy £14.99 (or about $30).

Nintendo already dipped its toes into USB keyboard support with a previous Wii update, but it now looks to have busted that functionality wide open with the just-released 3.1 system update, which also brings with it an enhanced "Everybody Votes" channel. Among the most welcome additions is keyboard support for the Internet Channel, which will no doubt make your couch-bound web browsing experience a fair bit more enjoyable. A separate update to the Opera-based Internet Channel is also available through the Wii Shop Channel, which includes some new shortcuts to ease your Wiimote-based surfing, along with nine additional favorites slots, an option to send favorite web sites to a friend, and a new "Widget View Mode" that'll let you take advantage of Opera's various community-built widgets. The update is free for existing users, or 500 Wii points for anyone that has yet to take the plunge. Still no word on that rumored Nintendo-made Wii keyboard though.

Further shortening the list of possible Wii peripherals, Game Informer is now saying that Nintendo is considering a keyboard for the console, supposedly to make online surfing a bit easier. Unfortunately, they don't have much more info than that tantalizing tidbit to provide, with the entirety of the report encapsulated in the shot above courtesy of our pals at Wii Fanboy. Given Microsoft's recent move on the QWERTY front, however, it certainly doesn't seem to be too outlandish a rumor. Let's just hope Nintendo doesn't decide to extend the Wiimote's motion sensing capabilities to it -- there's no telling what sort of damage a flying keyboard could wreak.
