In case you didn't own enough gaming tees, Uniqlo has opening its annual tee design competition, this time centered around Nintendo. The UTGP'17 comes with a healthy $10,000 prize pot and the contest is open to global entries. (Yes, even from you.) Notably, the collaboration has ensured Nintendo's legendary Shigeru Miyamoto will be act as a "special judge" for the competition. The winning (and runner-up) designs typically go on to be sold in Uniqlo stores, which adds an incentive worth even more than that prize pot. (Or not. Real talk; it is 10,000 bucks.)

Thanksgiving is a time to remember things to be grateful for, stuff yourself with turkey and watch MST3k re-runs. But what happens the following day, when you wake up with a meat hangover that could kill a horse? That's the moment you'll stumble online, looking for new ways to lose weight and find OMsignal's biometric smart shirt. The fashionable piece is a sports-style compression garment that monitors your breathing, heart rate and step count, so I know that as I write this, I'm taking 18 breaths a minute and my heart is beating 76 times every 60 seconds. Neat, huh?

In the 30 years since Alexey Pajitnov first launched Tetris, the world's most popular game has regularly been immortalized in fashion. Luxembourgian Mark Kreger wanted to do the same, but instead of cooking up a colorful print, he's staving off boredom with something much more interactive: a playable Tetris T-shirt. Featuring 128 LEDs powered by an Arduino Uno microcontroller, Kreger's marvellous tee requires only four rechargeable AA batteries to power the game. It'll keep score and display level numbers -- the only thing it appears to be lacking is the super-funky soundtrack.

Looking for the perfect WoW-themed hoodie, t-shirt, cap, or accessories? If you've recently given up on finding what you want, it might be time to give J!NX another look. They've got a selection of new, never-before-seen stock for Blizzard games that could well be worth a look. In addition, pre-orders are open for the upcoming Horde and Alliance themed track jackets, which I think look pretty slick. Lastly, there are also new t-shirts available featuring some of the classic art from Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo II. If you've always wanted something featuring the games of times gone by, now's your chance to pick one up, whether you remember playing them the days they came out or if you're newer to the charms of our digital predecessors. Wandering around outside of Azeroth, in the so-called real world, you'll see a lot of World of Warcraft players. Some you'll spot with class t-shirts, others drive cars with alliance or horde window stickers (or even custom license plates), some may wear WoW-themed jewelry, and some even have WoW tattoos. But not everyone feels the need to show off their WoW fandom in an obvious way -- or even at all. So what about you, readers? Do you have a WoW-themed t-shirt collection so you always have the right shirt for the occasion? Or is there some subtler way you like to show off your WoW love? %Gallery-20183%

  • The Secret World offers snazzy game apparel [Updated]

It's often seemed unfair that we were able to dress up our characters in The Secret World with all manner of fashionable attire and yet couldn't be that cool in real life. That's about to change, as Funcom's partnered up with WeLoveFine.com to offer a line of official TSW gear. As you might expect, t-shirts make up a bulk of the store's offerings. These include straight-forward logos of the game's factions as well as humorous mock-ups of in-game places. Fans of the Innsmouth Academy can now register for classes with an official hoodie of this fictitious school, and there are two messenger bags that would be perfect for toting your homework around. [Update: WeLoveFine has pointed out for us more TSW goodies, including two posters designed by Steve Thomas. The company also promises to add more women's tees (thanks for that!). If you decide to pick up some goodies, use MASSIVETLYTSW when you check out to snag a 20% discount. No, we don't get anything if you do, but you get to spend less money. Win/win.]

  • Breakfast Topic: Do you buy real-life WoW goodies?

Everybody likes stuff. It almost goes without saying that WoW players like WoW stuff. Some of us, however, like WoW stuff a little more than others. Ever witnessed someone really loading up somewhere like the Blizzard Store or Jinx? Heaven help their credit cards -- they seem powerless to resist every last murloc, T-shirt, and hearthstone key ring. I guess it all depends how open you are about your gaming hobby; even in 2012, some folks still feel a need to be discreet about their gaming hobby. Still, those people are probably handily offset by all the enthusiastic crafters out there. Anybody remember World of WarCrafts? My office is in my house and I don't even wear shoes unless I'm headed out for errands, but even I would spring for the hot little WoW heels shown above. That's not even getting into the head-spinning variety of WoW-themed goodies you can make yourself. (All thumbs? We can show you how!) Do you wear your love for World of Warcraft literally on your sleeve? Do you limit yourself to the odd T-shirt or hoodie, or do you let your gaming flag fly on your car bumper, at your desk, or throughout the house? Would you ever spring for a big-ticket item like a reproduction Doomhammer?

An LED display, camera, microphone, speaker and accelerometer all packaged into a t-shirt and controlled via your smartphone? That's the concept behind tshirtOS, a wearable platform for "self-expression" that currently only exists as a prototype. It can show off tweets, play music videos, capture belly-height photos and send them off to Instagram, and pretty much do anything except play percussion. CuteCircuit, which came up with the idea in cahoots (inexplicably) with Ballantine's whisky, says it's about to conduct product tests and will mass produce the smart-shirts if enough folks register interest. There's no Kickstarter page, definite specs or pricing for any of this, but based on CuteCircuit's history and the video after the break we're inclined to believe TshirtOS is more than just viral marketing stunt for the sake of a dram -- click onwards and judge for yourself.

    07.05.2012

Guild Wars 2 fans have been clamoring for a few things over the years. The first repeated request, a release date, was granted just last week. Two other things -- a way to turn into walking billboards for ArenaNet and a way to give the company more money -- are soon to be realized as well. Until now, Guild Wars 2 clothing has been reserved only for the lucky and dedicated few who can get themselves to conventions. Soon shirts branded with the awesome art associated with Guild Wars 2 will be available for the masses. Better still, you can have a say in what shirts get made. There's a small gallery of possible designs hosted on the Guild Wars 2 Facebook page. Check it out, pick your three favorites, and vote for those favorites. The poll is only open until 3:00 p.m. EDT on July 6th, so don't deliberate too long.

Now, you can simply wear your alliance across your chest, or favorite beverage, thanks to a new CafePress store. Revealed in a Windowsteamblog post, the shop will let you grab mugs, t-shirts, stickers, magnets and more emblazoned with "I Heart Windows Phone" in icons. Here it is -- the final piece in your all fabric New Order cover band. This $30 wearable drum machine brings a much needed edge to ThinkGeeks existing collection of soft-circuit "instruments." You can choose from seven different drum kits, including the ubiquitous 808 and a palette of chip tune effects. The T-shirt's integrated recorder lets you build loops up to three minutes long and endlessly layer on the sounds. Just keep piling 'em on until your old-school hip hop homage has become an impenetrable wall of noise that washes over you as you walk down the street, proclaiming your geekdom in rhythm. And, of course, the included mini amp cranks all the way up to 11. Check out the videos after the break to see MC Lars and Dex Fontaine demo the capabilities of the personal percussion pullover.

  • Assassin's Creed The Fall Deluxe Edition, retro Ubi shirts on UbiWorkshop

    09.20.2011

Ubisoft has collected the three issues of the Assassin's Creed: The Fall comic book into a trade paperback, which it's calling the "Deluxe Edition." Even if you've already read The Fall, Ubisoft wants to persuade you to buy this, even if only to get you ready to buy the next series, The Chain. The book has a new ten-page epilogue meant to bridge the story between The Fall and The Chain, by Karl Kerschl and Cameron Stewart. If you only feel like reading one word, and want it on your chest instead of inside a book, UbiWorkshop has something for you as well. The store is now offering t-shirts with a circa-1980s Ubisoft logo, devised by people who were apparently way into the MTV aesthetic.
