iriver came to IFA with the usual collection of concept gear we crave. Unlike other manufacturers, iriver usually brings its prototypes to market, eventually, so you'll want to pay attention. First up is a concept horn speaker (pictured top) attached to an iriver SPINN. The device plugs into the existing headphone jack bringing a sense of gramophone nostalgia to this most-modern device. Next up is iriver's latest take on the Unit2, the UNIT2-S, a simpler multimedia communications device for the home. Remember, it's just a concept, but as envisioned, the working prototype functions as a video phone, digital photo frame, web browser, FM radio, flash gaming rig, SMS/MMS receiver, and audio / video player with DMB television tuner. The specs list a 4.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, 30GB hard drive and 2GB of flash (presumably in the base unit and handset, respectively), mic, stereo speaker, and Li-Polymer battery all packed into a 185.4 x 117 x 19.8-mm tower.Last up is the R1 DAB radio concept (pictured bottom). Again, the prototype is fully functional and capable of playing back internet, DAB, and FM radio or audio streaming from PC or local storage through a pair of 2W stereo speakers. They also included an alarm clock to remind you that these concepts are just part of an iriver dream -- for now.%Gallery-30735%

iriver's favorite pastime is toying with our heartstrings, and while the latest barrage of fragmented, high-resolution images does just that, at least we've been able to wrap our paws around some of what we're seeing. Hit up the gallery below for today's pictorial treasures. %Gallery-13335%

iRiver was being awful coy with its stable of hot new gear -- we couldn't even get their reps to say anything would be out in North America, much less finagle pricing or ship dates -- but the new Spinn, iAmoled, and Wing still managed to charm us from behind the glass. We did get to poke around with the W7, P10, and the Unit 2 -- which was still impressive, even though it crashed -- and the Dicple D30, all of which had amazing build quality. Hopefully we'll see this stuff hit our fair shores soon, but for now, check 'em all out in our gallery! %Gallery-13159%

Mmm, there's nothing like fragmented high-resolution photos of a lust-worthy device to get us salivating, and iriver's marketing department has done an exquisite job figuring that out. Shortly after unveiling the sexiest e-dictionary known to man, the much anticipated UNIT2 conglomerate received its own teaser site, complete with photos and a few extra details you should know. While it has yet to lose its mystique, we now know (officially, at least) that the base will act as a DVD player, TV tuner, access point, charging station, hard drive, and a speaker station. Aside from sporting an SD slot and USB connectivity, this beauty will handle music, movies, photos, eBooks, and WiFi streaming without breaking a sweat. Mechanically, you can expect an automatic sliding door, detachable display, slot-loaded CD / DVD deck, and a 78-key controller to manage the fun. No word yet on the price, but be sure to peek the additional photos below.%Gallery-4121%

Last year, iriver introduced the clix, known as the U10 elsewhere. Well, the second gen model looks like it's hit the gym and slimmed down to a much more attractive exterior. Yeah, we could go on for hours about the stylish clix 2, the W10, the S10 or any of their other products they're flaunting, but instead we've got a painstakingly crafted vid for y'all's to enjoy. Of course, you could always read up on these devices, but to see us see them in person, well, that's something special.[MP4] Download the video

Yeah, the clix 2 wasn't the only iriver device we danced with today. The UNIT2 represents an interesting home streaming tablet-style media device that docks for boombox playback, but roams around your crib on WiFi as it streams DVDs (which spin open-aire, see above) or HD from its ins on the base station. You know what it does, check out the gallery. iriver UNIT2 hands-on gallery

  • UNIT2 from iRiver mixes DVD player with DMB and WiFi

iRiver's parent company Reigncom has released a photo and some sparse details of a WiFi-enabled DMB that apparently does a lot more than just connect to the internet and show digital TV. According to Akihabara News, the UNIT2 also features a DVD player, Portable Media Player capabilities (which implies that some solid state / hard drive storage is part of the deal), and IPTV and VoIP support thanks to the aforementioned integrated WiFi. The device itself appears to be rather large -- each of the stereo speakers has the same surface area as the display -- so we're assuming that this is a non-portable device for now. As the details are sparse, and iRiver and Reigncom's inhospitable Korean sites aren't helping, we're unsure about how exactly all these features will work together, although we'd suggest that the remote control with integrated display is the control system. Despite the fact that iRiver is showing off this and 11 other devices at CES next week, we really wouldn't be surprised if this feature-packed WiFi TV is a Korea-only exclusive. Such is life.
