The Call of Duty League will return this weekend after several weeks of inaction. Much like the Overwatch League, its fellow Activision Blizzard esports series, matches will take place entirely online with players taking part remotely.

Activision Blizzard has changed the way the Call of Duty League works in face of the COVID-19 outbreak. After cancelling all Overwatch League homestead matches, the company has announced that it's also turning all CoD League live matches planned for 2020 into online-only events. The developer says it came to the decision after "careful review and working in close collaboration with [its] teams" and that it's "continuing to closely monitor" the COVID-19 situation.

While the company worked with Twitch in the past on Overwatch League, that's not where you'll be able to watch its latest foray into top-level competitive gaming. YouTube will be Activision Blizzard's exclusive worldwide streaming partner (except for China) for both leagues this year, along with Hearthstone events and other esports endeavors.
The first season of Call of Duty League begins January 24th
Activision Blizzard's bid at an Overwatch-style, city-based Call of Duty esports competition is relatively close to getting underway. The publisher has announced that the first season of the Call of Duty League will get started on the weekend of January 24th, 2020, when the Minnesota Røkkr will play host to the other 11 teams in a collection of five-on-five Modern Warfare matches at the Minneapolis Armory. It'll also showcase the first Call of Duty Challengers Open for amateur players, whose online competition starts in November. Challengers teams can obtain passes for the launch weekend in early December.
