Zero’s SR/S electric motorcycle promises up to 201 miles of range
Like EV owners, electric motorcycle riders suffer from range anxiety. Zero Motorcycles is trying to alleviate that a bit with a new model, the SR/S. It can go up to 201 miles in the city and 103 miles on highways -- better numbers than the last SR/F model all around. Best of all, Zero managed to keep the price just above the SR/F by keeping the same platform and introducing a full fairing to improve aerodynamics.

Segway's first electric dirt bikes arrive in early 2020
Segway-Ninebot technically makes electric vehicles that go outside, but now it has machines designed explicitly for outdoor expeditions. The company has introduced two Dirt eBike models, the X160 and X260, that are billed as crosses between conventional dirt bikes and mountain bikes. While we wouldn't call them radical departures from the norm, they can be customized using "standard motor parts" and use swappable batteries.

After a brief blip, Harley-Davidson says it has resumed manufacturing its LiveWire electric motorcycles. The company halted production and delivery of its first-ever electric bike last week after discovering an issue with the vehicle's charging equipment. The Verge reports Harley-Davidson now says that the problem was limited to a single motorcycle.

Harley-Davidson has suspended the production and delivery of its LiveWire electric motorcycles. During final tests, the company discovered a problem related to the vehicle's charging equipment. The company told The Wall Street Journal that tests to pinpoint the issue are progressing well, but it did not say when production will resume.

Zero's 2020 electric motorcycles include one that's loaded for adventures
Imagine how people use Zero's electric motorbikes and you'll probably picture a commute to work or a quick blast through the countryside. Now, however, it's encouraging you to make longer-lasting journeys. The company has introduce a 2020 bike lineup headlined by the DSR Black Forest Edition (above), a previously EU-only ride that's now available worldwide. It adds three lockable cases, accessory bars, hand guards and a headlamp cover to the DSR formula. You'll have to structure your adventures around the Black Forest model's 157-mile range (196 miles if you add a Power Tank), but you're otherwise good to go for a beach party or even a weekend trip. Just be prepared to spend $18,995 for the privilege.

Harley-Davidson's first electric motorcycle will soon hit the roads, and while the LiveWire will have a longer range than first expected, at 140 miles of city driving on a single charge, you'll still need to hook it up to a charger once in a while. To help you save on electricity fees, Harley is offering free charging for US customers.

Before, if you rode an electrified motorcycle you got stares and questions. Now, not so much. Like Teslas, Zero is no longer an oddity.

BMW hints at the future of electric motorcycles with the Vision DC Roadster
BMW Motorrad has an electric scooter. The capable and fun C Evolution. An outstanding vehicle I had the pleasure of riding around on in LA. But as far as full-sized bikes go, Zero Motorcycles still rules that market while we wait for Harley-Davidson to start selling its own EV. But the German motorcycle maker has been taking its time going full size. Hopefully, the Vision DC Roadster concept is a sign of things to come.

Bird is adding a shareable electric motorcycle to its fleet
Bird, the company that rents out electric razor scooters, is adding an electric motorcycle to its fleet of micro-mobility vehicles. The Bird Cruiser is described as a "seated electric vehicle," which can carry up to two adults at a time. You'll get a padded seat, a choice of pedals or pegs for your feet, and hydraulic disc brakes to ensure safe stopping.

Zero’s SR/F electric motorcycle is quicker and now more connected
My riding companions ask me what type of ride I want to go on. "Aggressive or casual?" This is my first time on Zero's new SR/F motorcycle (starting at $18,995). It's a new design for the company. The motor is new. The controller unit and operating system are new. Even the display is new. Plus, I'll be riding on roads I've never even seen. I reply "casual" but 20 minutes in, I wish I had said "aggressive."

Honda's big EV push now includes dirt bikes and scooters
Honda has shown an affinity for electric cars as of late, but what about the motorcycle crowd? Don't worry, you'll get your fix soon. The automaker has unveiled prototypes for both the CR Electric dirt bike (above) and the Benly Electric delivery scooter (below), offering a peek at how it will approach emissions-free transportation on two wheels. Honda didn't dive into the specs, but the CR Electric appears based on the CRF450 and uses a Mugen-developed motor along with Showa inverted forks.
