Arguably the biggest adult video website on the planet, Pornhub is responsible for plenty of folks getting their rocks off each day. But, as regulations on the internet trend rightward, access to adult content is becoming a problem. That's why the site is launching VPNhub, a Pornhub owned-and-operated VPN that will theoretically keep your browsing activity free from the prying eyes of snoopers and censors.

Pornhub hasn't been actively enforcing its deepfake ban

Remember how Pornhub said it was banning AI-generated deepfake videos? They're still a problem months later. BuzzFeed News "easily" found over 100 of the non-consensual videos by searching for obvious keywords like "deepfake" and "fake deep," nearly all of them explicitly mentioning their deepfake status in the title or the uploader's username. The clips had been around for a while, too, as they had hundreds of thousands or even millions of views. Some videos surfaced in home page recommendations.

UK delays mandatory age verification on porn sites

Ever since the Digital Economy Act became UK law this time last year, we've known there would come a time when porn sites would be compelled to verify the age of British visitors to ensure they're only letting adults in. Not long after, the UK's digital minister set a deadline of April 2018, at which point porn sites would have to comply or face the consequences. We had assumed everything was on track, but the UK government has admitted we're nowhere near ready to police porn sites, and now it expects age verification won't be enforceable until the end of the year.

Pornhub's owner reveals its age verification tool for the UK

Pornhub owner Mindgeek has unveiled what might become the default gatekeeping tool for porn in the UK. AgeID will ask porn site visitors to create an encrypted login that verifies their age across any compatible site, saving them from having to prove they're 18 or older every time they want to view some racy material. The system will draw on third-party age verification companies, but Mindgeek promises that AgeID won't store any personal info -- it'll only keep "standard technical data" to prevent fraud as well as that protected login.

Pornhub says it will ban 'deepfake' AI-edited videos

Is the thought of AI-generated fake porn (aka "deepfakes") disturbing to you? You're not the only one. Pornhub has informed Motherboard that it will ban videos that use machine learning to superimpose faces on porn actors. The company forbids "any nonconsensual content," and this certainly qualifies -- more often than not, the face's owner didn't give permission. Pornhub put it on the same level as revenge porn.

A million net neutrality comments used fake PornHub emails

Even as senators try to halt the FCC's gutting of former internet protections and tech companies express their frustration with the new rules, net neutrality is dead. Sure, there was an extension to the period of public comment on the matter when it was found that more than half of the comments were fake, but that didn't stop Ajit Pai's commission from killing it. Now there's even more evidence showing just how fake submissions to the governmental site were, including the fact that over one million bulk submissions used fake email addresses from pornhub.com.

Before the sex robots take over, we still have time to get our rocks off with one another (and ourselves). And Pornhub is here to lend a hand, or an interactive sex toy, or three, to be precise. The largest pornography site on the net has been syncing its interactive adult movies with the Fleshlight Launch and Kiiroo's Onyx since June, and now it's adding its own, brand-spanking new haptic toys (the Virtual Rabbit, Virtual Blowbot Turbo Stroker, and Virtual Blowbot Stroker) to the list.

The Daily Beast reports today that a number of users of revenge porn site Anon-IB appear to be connecting from government computers. Einar Otto Stangvik, a security analyst with Norway's VG newspaper, was able to pull IP addresses from the website and they showed that a number of Anon-IB commenters and posters were logging on through IP addresses belonging to the US Navy, the US Senate, the Department of Energy and the Executive Office of the President.

Pornhub's first store has a livestreaming bed camera, of course

Pop-up stores are all the rage, but Pornhub's shop in New York City is offering something... unique. If you visit its just-opened location on 70 Wooster Street, you'll see a bed with a camera that livestreams directly to the porn giant's website. No, you can't get away with what normally happens on a bed at Pornhub, but you are encouraged to "interact" with the camera. And let's be honest: this is probably your best shot at appearing live on a porn site without having to explain a surprise career move.

NSFW Warning: This story may contain links to and descriptions or images of explicit sexual acts. Mindgeek may be the most powerful company that you've never heard of, or at least, a company you'll claim never to have heard about in polite society. It's the conglomerate that owns some of the world's most visited porn sites, including Pornhub, RedTube and YouPorn. Far from simply being a popular and free way for people to consume adult content, it may soon have a powerful political role in the UK that will ensure its dominance for decades to come. That's because, within the next year, Mindgeek may become the principal gatekeeper between the country's internet users and their porn.

Pornhub is improving search with an AI porn addict

NSFW Warning: This story may contain links to and descriptions or images of explicit sexual acts. One of the (many) problems that porn websites that rely upon user-generated content have, is that its one-handed users often don't respect proper database use. As a consequence, you may have thousands of clips, all described with the same five words and two tags. That makes discovery and cataloging a problem, especially if you're looking for videos to cater to your very specific niche or favorite performer.

If you own either the Fleshlight Launch or Kiiroo's Onyx, then you'll know that both are capable of syncing with a certain group of adult movies. These specially-made interactive videos contain a data layer that lets the hardware jerk and thrust along in time to the on-screen action. Now, Pornhub is getting in on the action by opening up a section of its site that is dedicated to content specifically for interactive sex toys.

Now that your ISP will soon be able to sell your browsing history to advertisers, it's good to know which companies have your back, privacy-wise. Around the web, the recent switch to HTTPS encryption has been a step in the right direction, but adult websites -- the ones with the most potentially embarrassing content -- have been slow to adopt. This week Pornhub, the most popular porn site on the internet, announced it now supports HTTPS to keep users' browsing habits within its network of sites as private as possible.

If you were on the internet on Friday morning, congrats! You were one of a lucky few who maintained their connectivity in the face of a massive, nationwide DDoS attack against part of the Domain Name System (DNS), a crucial piece of digital infrastructure which, when offline, cripples our ability to access the internet. But despite its importance, the DNS is often overlooked -- much like the rest of the behind the scene mechanisms that make the internet work. So before you go resetting your router to see if that clears things up (hint: it won't), let's take a quick look at what the DNS does and how it managed to break so spectacularly earlier today.

If there's one thing that Pornhub is good at that doesn't involve a satisfying break from work, it's getting people to pay attention to its plans. The company's latest attempt to remind everyone where to get their action from comes in the form of Bang Fit, which purports to be a smartphone-based sexercise platform. The idea, as far as the site is concerned, is that getting down and dirty is a better way to workout than whatever your personal trainer can tell you to do. Plus, it has the added benefit of keeping you relaxed and connected with yourself and your significant other(s).

Pornhub is streaming skin flicks in virtual reality

If last week's slurry of video game virtual reality news left you craving something a little more carnal in nature, you're in luck. Skin site Pornhub has announced it's launching a category dedicated entirely to VR sex videos. Pornhub says that these are optimized for mobile VR on Android, iOS and Samsung's Gear VR, as well as being playable in the Oculus Rift and "most" other PC-based headsets. And unlike KinkVR's subscription model, these videos are free. Oh, and if you're left high and dry without a set of VR goggles, the flesh peddlers say that they'll be giving away 10,000 pair of them. Knowing how cheap Google Cardboard is, that's probably similar to what it'll ship out. And on that note, Pornhub says it's baked Cardboard support into its Android app, and 360 degree video will even be supported via mobile browser on the platform. Keep in mind though that you'll need a free hand to keep that VR system on your face.

  • Kanye caught on Pirate Bay while his album streams on Pornhub (update)

In the picture above, you'll spot Joel Zimmerman's alter ego, Deadmau5, standing side by side with Kanye West. Last night, the rodent-headed musician was putting a little distance between him and his Tidal buddy, for apparently using Pirate Bay to download a software synthesiser called Xfer Serum (a $190 purchase). Deadmau5 was responding to a tweet from West that simply read "Day 3," along with a screen shot of what he was listening to (Sufjan Stevens' "Death with Dignity"). Zimmerman noticed West's other browser tabs in view, which included one for Xfer Records' Serum, one for "Pirate Bay Torrent Xfe..." and another for "The 50 best VSTs" (software instruments). Oh, and the surest giveaway you're browsing something dodgy: MacKeeper.

  • Pornhub streamlines revenge porn reporting process

Pornhub has introduced a new online form (NSFW) that will help identify and remove nonconsensual revenge porn from the site. In the past, victims could only send through removal requests via email, but the new process hopes to cut out all the red tape people had to go through in the past. The company's vice president Corey Price said: "It is vital that we continue to make our community feel safe. We want all Pornhub users to know that this new reporting process is for their security and peace of mind first and foremost." Most US states have already set laws against this type of porn, with California being the first state to convict someone running a revenge porn site. The essence of the online form is to act quickly before the video goes viral, because once that happens, it's nearly impossible to remove all traces of it. [Image credit: Getty creative]

Much like OK Cupid, Pornhub has access to a large repository of data concerning our most private and intimate desires. Every now and again, both sites like to reveal some statistics about what we like to get up to when nobody else is watching. Today, Pornhub is delving deep into its servers to look at the meteoric rise of smartphones over the last five years and what, if anything, your choice of smartphone says about your habits. Are iOS and Android users that different in what they like to get off to? You betcha, but for propriety's sake, we'll leave all of the grisly details until after the break. Adults only from here on out.
