What are your most anticipated games for this holiday season?

With 2 new console releases, launch titles, and too many other games to count coming out this holiday season, it can be tough deciding which games to preorder and purchase versus those to wait on. There are the big AAA titles coming to all consoles, and then there are the smaller Indie titles. It can be hard keeping track of the delays, release dates, and sheer number of games being released.

If you are on iOS and need help keeping track of it all, I've been using this great app called Launch Day, which I highly recommend. So far, it only has home consoles on it, but I've heard that portable console support is coming soon. You can watch trailers, add release dates to your calendar, and get notifications for when a game is being released or has been delayed.

I do have a PS4 preordered, and I plan on getting Knack as my launch title as well as Resogun, which will be available on the PSN store. I played Tiny Brains at PAX Prime, and I may get that as well, but I'm not sure I'll have 4 people to play it. For me, the big game release day is November 22nd. While, I don't have an Xbox One preorder, nor do I plan on getting one that day, there are 3 big titles I'm looking forward to that day. They are:
  • Super Mario 3D World (Wii U): I think this will finally be the Wii U title that merits the purchase of a Wii U for a lot of people. That and the fact that the Wii U will be priced $100-$200 cheaper than the new release consoles.
  • Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS): The new Zelda title for this year with a new gameplay mechanic where Link becomes 2D wall art to solve puzzles.

Do you have a next-gen console preordered? Which games are you most looking forward to this holiday season?

I have a Day One Xbox One coming to me on the 22nd. Definitely planning on picking up Battlefield 4 and perhaps Forza 5, Ryse, and CoD: Ghosts. I'm really looking forward to Titanfall and Destiny, but those won't be out this holiday season.

I am planning on going all digital for the first time on a console, so I'm looking forward to that.

I plan on eventually getting an XBOX One. The all digital thing worries me a little as I have seen some stuttering and whatnot on the PS3 with digital games. I have CoD: Ghosts pre-ordered digitally, so I will see :D

There are advantages to digital and physical, but I think I'm still going to stick with physical. It used to be because I was working where I got a discount on games, but now it's mostly because hard drive space on most consoles is a precious commodity, I like box art, and I can lend/trade in physical games. Not that I trade in my games, but the option is always available.

Is Forza as amazing as the ad makes it out to be?

My PlayStation 4 was paid off back in July. I got the Battlefield 4 bundle and I have Call of Duty: Ghosts pre-ordered as well. I'm looking forward to Knack and all of the second screen action. Maybe I can get my girlfriend into the action :) Play On.

I agree with
Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)

and I realize this one just came out but

Rocksmith 2014

I enjoyed the original even with its flaws, and this new version looks to have fixed the gripes that owners had with the original.

I am still on the fence for the PS4/XBox One decision, so this holiday season will not be where a decision is made.

I won't be spending money on games this Christmas, but if someone asks me what I want, the only new game that comes to mind is The Legend of Zelda : A Link Between Two Worlds for the 3DS. If there are any other 3DS games coming out for the holidays worth getting, I hope someone will point them out so I can add them to the list. :D

I don't think there are many others scheduled for a release. At least nothing that many would want over Zelda : )
