What exactly that entails remains a mystery, thanks to both companies keeping their lips sealed. And while we're still not completely sure as to what secrets these devices still hold -- or even their official names, for that matter -- <em>TmoNews</em> picked up a leaked screenshot that shows off a list of upcoming accessories on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/t-mobile/">T-Mobile</a>, some of which are for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/31/htc-ville-gets-hands-on-en-francais-is-presumably-practicing-it/">HTC Ville</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/20/huawei-ascend-d1-q-shows-off-its-corners-packs-the-same-number/">Huawei Prism</a> in April. Does this guarantee that we'll see both devices featured on the GSM carrier? Not at all, but stay tuned over the next few days because we have a feeling more answers will come pouring in soon.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/22/huawei-prism-htc-ville-t-mobile/">Huawei Prism, HTC Ville may be heading to T-Mobile in April?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 17:52:00 EDT. Its sources indicate that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/24/nokia-lumia-910-12mp-camera-eldar-murtazin/">oft-rumored global version</a> of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/att-lumia-900-hands-on-ces/">Lumia 900</a> is go (AT&amp;T's model shown above), as well as a lower-end Lumia 610. That's the lesson we imagine Sprint is learning at this very moment. Just two months after it <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/21/sprint-sues-time-warner-comcast-cable-one-and-cox-for-infringi/">filed a lawsuit</a> against Comcast for getting all up in its VoIP business, the digital services company is now ready to go Comcastic on the Now Network's derriere, as it has filed a lawsuit of its own in a Pennsylvania court. While it's not directly tied into December's case, it seems oddly coincidental that this new suit came into existence so soon after Sprint fired the first shot.<br /><br />Comcast and subsidiary TVWorks, LLC allege that Sprint is guilty of violating four wireless patents: its wireless broadband cards, Vision Pack and other SMS services, MMS transfers and voice and data using IP / MPLS backhaul. That's a pretty hefty portion of the carrier's basic operations, it seems, and we're assuming that a settlement or licensing agreement will be the end result here. Regardless, as the adage says, what goes around comes around.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/22/comcast-sues-sprint/">Comcast sues Sprint with patent infringement, says two can play that game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 13:59:00 EDT. However, AT&amp;T apparently has one in the pipeline dubbed the Samsung Rugby Smart. Destined to be the latest addition to the lineup of Sammy's military-spec devices, the Smart will -- as you probably guessed -- be the first member of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/25/samsungs-rugby-ii-ready-to-put-the-smack-down-on-atandt-for-130/">Rugby family</a> to ditch the clamshell form factor and take on Android at the same time. <em>Pocketnow,</em> which leaked the above press renders, also mentions that the device is slated to offer Android 2.3.5, 512MB of RAM, HSPA+ and a 1,650mAh battery. Nothing impressive, to say the least, unless there are a few other surprises that await us sometime in the (hopefully) near future. We still haven't heard a peep from AT&amp;T, but word has it that when it's finally ready to storm shelves, we should expect to see it available for roughly $100. If we're lucky, maybe we'll even hear more about the Smart in, oh, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mwc">next week or so</a>?</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/22/samsung-rugby-smart-renders/">Samsung Rugby Smart gets rendered as it anxiously awaits our drops and kicks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 10:38:00 EDT. Of course, leave it to T-Mobile and Sammy to toss in a few extra nuggets in the lead-up to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mwc">Mobile World Congress </a>in the midst of so many other product announcements. It turns out that the Blaze 4G will be making its official debut on the carrier sometime near the end of March for $150 on a two-year commitment. The device sports a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 CPU, 4-inch Super AMOLED panel, 5MP rear camera with 720p video capture, a 1.3MP front-facing shooter and -- shocker -- Android 2.3. It also supports 42Mbps HSPA+. Definitely sounds like a healthy mix of 2010 and 2011, no doubt. Want more details? We've got the press release after the break ready and waiting for you.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/22/samsung-galaxy-s-blaze-4g/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G making its way into T-Mobile stores in March for $150</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/22/samsung-galaxy-s-blaze-4g/">Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G making its way into T-Mobile stores in March for $150</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 00:34:00 EDT. This version of the GSII offers the same 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos CPU found in the original version, as well as a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display. Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), an eight megapixel rear camera and 16GB internal storage are also confirmed, though we think it's highly likely this unit will feature the same specs as the rest of the series. Sadly, the device lacks support on USCC's brand new LTE network, so brace yourself for 3G speeds if you plan to pick one of these up. Check out the full press release below for all the details released so far, and we'll keep you posted as soon as we hear an official release date or any other deep dark secrets.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/21/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-uscc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy S II announced for US Cellular: 'coming soon' for $230</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/21/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-uscc/">Samsung Galaxy S II announced for US Cellular: 'coming soon' for $230</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 10:10:00 EDT. Sixteen crystal-clear images show the new sibling -- none other than the previously seen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/22/leaked-sony-image-st25i-kumquat/">ST25i</a>, aka <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/25/sony-st25i-kumquat-leaves-fruity-name-behind-becomes-xperia-u/">Xperia U</a> or Kumquat -- snuggled up to the Xperia S. As it appears, the handset will likely be a lower-end offering in the Xperia lineup: it's said to feature a 3.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480) Reality Display, a 1GHz dual-core CPU, Exmor R sensor with 720p video capture and a tiny user-replaceable 1,290mAh battery. Oh, and Android 2.3.7 is rumored, though the rumor specifically mentions it will soon be upgraded to ICS. If these whispers turn out to be accurate, the U will likely be pitched as a smaller and less expensive option for fans of the Xperia S's design. Also, we don't foresee the device's Sony Ericsson branding to make an appearance at the show, given the two companies' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/sony-finalizes-divorce-with-ericsson-renames-itself-sony-mobile/">recent divorce</a>. While you lust after those, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/pantech">Pantech</a> is on the prowl, steadily adding to and improving upon its army of budget offerings in the US. It may not be as formidable a force as the Samsungs and Motorolas of the world, but the outfit is finally beginning to leave a mark. Once a complete unknown outside of Asia, the phone manufacturer is keeping itself incredibly busy on this side of the Pacific, cranking out low-cost devices for AT&amp;T and Verizon. Now, Pantech's focus has turned to LTE, starting with the $50 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/03/pantech-breakout-review/">Breakout</a> on Big Red, followed by a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/23/psa-pantech-element-and-burst-get-bundled-together-at-atandt-25/">smartphone and tablet option</a> on Ma Bell.<br /><br /><div class="follow_this_in_post"> <img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/11/more_info_header_1.gif" /><br /> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/pantech-burst-att-lte/">Pantech Burst official on AT&amp;T</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/atandt-pantech-burst-hands-on-at-ces-2012/">Pantech Burst hands-on</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/pantech-element-hands-on-at-ces-2012/">Pantech Element hands-on</a></div></div>The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/atandt-pantech-burst-hands-on-at-ces-2012/">Pantech Burst</a> is the inaugural entry-level LTE smartphone in AT&amp;T's lineup, debuting at $50 with a two-year commitment. Don't let that bargain-basement price turn you off, though -- this thing's got plenty of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mojo/">mojo</a> to back it up, which makes the Burst a stark contrast to its Verizon counterpart. But what can we expect from a budget-friendly handset? Is Pantech finally pushing out a device that will help it earn a new level of respect from American consumers? We're bursting at the seams to answer those questions and take the device for a spin after the break. (Yes, we just went there.)<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-burst-hardware-overview/">Pantech Burst hardware overview</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-burst-hardware-overview/#4823805"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09676-1329368800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-burst-hardware-overview/#4823786"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09642_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-burst-hardware-overview/#4823787"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09643_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-burst-hardware-overview/#4823793"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09653_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/pantech-burst-hardware-overview/#4823791"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09649_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/17/pantech-burst-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pantech Burst review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/17/pantech-burst-review/">Pantech Burst review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 17 Feb 2012 15:00:00 EDT. The outfit's latest model, the GSmart G1355, is getting some unofficial face time before <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mwc/">Mobile World Congress</a> and appears to keep things simple: it's said to bring dual-SIM capability to the table as well as a lightly-skinned version of Android 2.3, 5MP rear camera with LED flash, an 800MHz <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/msm7227/">Qualcomm MSM7227T</a> CPU with 512MB of RAM and Adreno 200 GPU. The 11.5mm-thick device also sports a 4.3-inch WVGA display, which is par for the course in today's smartphone market but a behemoth when compared to the rest of Gigabyte's offerings. Since it hasn't officially been announced, we also are unsure about the pricing and availability, but the specs certainly indicate that it's aiming for entry-level status. The G1355 is expected to make its official debut in Barcelona, and we'll be there to get some quality one-on-one time with the new handset.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/gigabyte-gsmart-g1355/">Gigabyte GSmart G1355 leaked ahead of MWC, offers dual-SIM goodness for small wallets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 15:01:00 EDT. Commissioner Joaquin Almunia stated that the transaction was approved because it "does not itself raise competition issues." That's not to say the EU won't be watching Mountain View like a hawk to ensure it doesn't go overboard on patent disputes, however, as each legal matter will be reviewed separately for compliance with antitrust laws. And while this is an incredibly important step for Google, the software giant's not through with the regulatory process -- it still needs to be signed off by the US Justice Department (expected later this week), as well as governing bodies in China, Israel and Taiwan.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/13/google-gets-eu-approval-for-its-purchase-of-motorola-mobility/">Google gets European Commission approval for its purchase of Motorola Mobility</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 13:39:00 EDT. Our <a href="https://www.facebook.com/NokiaUS">friends at Nokia</a> are showing up big, offering not one but <em>five</em> T-Mobile branded Lumia 710 units for our lucky readers! Indeed, we'll be picking out five winners and shipping one out to each. So head on below to leave a comment, and good luck!<br /><br /><strong>Note: </strong>You'll definitely want to read the fine print this time around, as there are a few caveats: the Lumia 710s being given out are strictly locked to work with T-Mobile US SIMs, and service is not coming with the prizes.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/13/engadget-giveaway-nokia-lumia-710/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Engadget Giveaway: win one of five Nokia Lumia 710s on T-Mobile, courtesy of Nokia!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/13/engadget-giveaway-nokia-lumia-710/">Engadget Giveaway: win one of five Nokia Lumia 710s on T-Mobile, courtesy of Nokia!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 11:01:00 EDT. And while Ralph de la Vega hasn't hid his company's aspirations <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/11/atandt-mobilitys-ralph-de-la-vega-shared-data-still-in-the-pipel/">from view</a>, the network hasn't exactly been forthcoming about when the party is going to get started. If the above and below screenshots are any indication, however, AT&amp;T has already added support for group data into Telegence, the internal system employees use to manage customer accounts.<br /> <br /> According to the memo seen above, Telegence has been tweaked to include a new group-level data feature node "in preparation for the launch of Shared Data." This verbiage seems to suggest the new plans are coming in the very near future, but the communication is quick to point out that the launch date has yet to be determined. Unfortunately, since the new adjustments aren't functional just yet, it could simply mean the company's beginning the first wave of crucial internal testing. Regardless, its presence in AT&amp;T's systems is a great step forward, and a welcome one that's been a long time coming. The question is, will the new plans arrive before <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/30/verizon-shared-data-plans-show-up-in-employee-training-materials/">Verizon</a> can push <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/07/verizon-ceo-says-shared-data-plans-coming-in-2012/">its version</a> out to the masses?<br /> <br /> [Thanks, anonymous]</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/12/att-shared-data/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AT&amp;T prepares internal systems for shared data, launch date still TBD</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/12/att-shared-data/">AT&amp;T prepares internal systems for shared data, launch date still TBD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 12 Feb 2012 10:12:00 EDT. After getting a hearty helping of Symbian Anna in November, owners of T-Mobile's first (and only) Symbian^3 device became hopeful that -- despite the fate of the OS being sealed -- the US counterpart to the C7 would remain relevant throughout the course of their contract. Sadly, it was not to be: the phone maker tweeted that the Astound won't receive an update to <strike>Symbian</strike> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/belle/">Nokia Belle</a>. What of the original C7, you ask? Oh, the latest refresh is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/07/belle-update-nokia-symbian-released/">already rolling out</a> to users worldwide, but the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nokia+astound/">Astound</a> doesn't appear to be invited to the party. Why? It would need to undergo an additional bout of carrier testing, which involves precious time and money that T-Mobile simply appears unwilling to dole out. This is speculation, of course, but we wouldn't find it surprising in the least to see a US carrier shun a ten-month-old device running an OS with a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/11/nokia-and-microsoft-enter-strategic-alliance-on-windows-phone-b/">less than promising</a> future.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/09/nokia-astound-owners-face-a-belle-less-future-no-update-coming/">Nokia Astound owners face a Belle-less future, no update coming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 09 Feb 2012 13:41:00 EDT. We've known that HTC's busy plugging away at its Sense-ified version of Android 4.0, but the company's finally ready to start discussing specifics. According to the outfit's UK Facebook page, the update will begin rolling out to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/02/htc-sensation-puts-on-a-white-ice-coat-to-match-its-ice-cream-sa/">HTC Sensation</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/13/htc-sensation-xe-with-beats-audio-review/">Sensation XE</a> by the end of March, with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/14/htc-sensation-xl-review/">Sensation XL</a> following suit. Additionally, owners of the EVO 3D, Incredible S, Desire S and Desire HD still haven't been forgotten, but their long-awaited upgrades to Ice Cream Sandwich will come sometime "later this year." That sure narrows down the timeframe. Hopefully we won't have to wait until the end of March to officially cast our eyes on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/31/htc-ville-gets-hands-on-en-francais-is-presumably-practicing-it/">new Sense</a>, as we're keeping our fingers crossed that we'll see some ICS love in new devices at Mobile World Congress later this month.<br /> <br /> <strong>Update:</strong> HTC's US Facebook page also announced the update, and added the Rezound, Vivid, Amaze 4G and EVO Design 4G to the list of devices that should receive ICS later this year.<br /> <br /> [Thanks, Willy]</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/09/htcs-first-ics-update/">HTC's first ICS update rolls out in late March, Sensation and Sensation XE call first dibs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 09 Feb 2012 12:58:00 EDT. The company, known primarily for providing digital services such as VoIP, wireline and wireless broadband in 22 markets across the country, is now aiming to expand its portfolio by using the Now Network to provide both postpaid and prepaid mobile plans for its customers. While we're still waiting to hear the specifics, Elevate mentioned that it will feature Android and "Windows-based devices." The MVNO will also be leveraged to support the company's Smart Home <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/home%20automation/">automation</a> service, taking advantage of a new app that will give customers remote access to all aspects of their home security systems. Well, you may not have to wait much longer for ZTE's version -- the EuFi I890, announced at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/verizon-jetpack-4g-lte-mobile-hotspot-launch-ces-2012/">CES last month</a> -- to come out, if its entry into the records of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/fcc">FCC</a> are any indication. It may not be the kind that you strap onto your back, but at least this one takes advantage of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/lte%20band%2013/">Verizon's LTE</a>, and it happens to add in CDMA / EVDO and AT&amp;T-compatible 3G radios. We knew the 4G-packing MiFi was going to hit stores in "the coming weeks," so this is essentially just one step closer to achieving that goal -- unfortunately, we still don't have a solid date yet. You've probably even heard that manufacturers such as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/pantech">Pantech</a>, Sharp and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/acer">Acer</a> produce phones as well. But have you ever heard of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/blu">BLU</a>? If you haven't, don't worry -- you'd be in the ranks of the 99 percent. Calling itself the "leader of the Latin America market with vision to expand worldwide," the outfit is nothing if not confident about its stature in developing countries. In the US, however, it's a completely different story: here, BLU is a virtual unknown: a low-profile brand, selling unlocked phones and tablets via e-tailers at bargain-basement prices.</div><br />Our friends at <a href="http://www.negrielectronics.com">Negri Electronics</a> hooked us up with the BLU Studio 5.3 ($260) and BLU Touch Book 7.0 ($230) for a short time, giving us the chance to play around with them for a little bit. Rather than doing a full review on both items, we felt it was more appropriate to first give the product lineup a formal introduction to the site. BLU, meet Engadget. Engadget, BLU. Let's dive in.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/02/blu-studio-touchbook-hands-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BLU Studio 5.3 and Touch Book 7.0 hands-on</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/02/blu-studio-touchbook-hands-on/">BLU Studio 5.3 and Touch Book 7.0 hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 02 Feb 2012 15:30:00 EDT. The missing part of the equation, however, was which devices would ring in the celebration. The carrier finally answered the mystery question: the first tablet, the Samsung <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/28/galaxy-tab-10-1-for-verizon-hands-on-with-the-new-4g-speed-king/">Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G</a>, will be the inaugural device and is expected to arrive in March, while the Galaxy S Aviator 4G should be gracing store shelves sometime in April.<br /> <br /> We don't expect to see any surprises with the Galaxy Tab, but the Aviator definitely has us curious. At first glance, it appears to be the same design as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/02/droid-charge-review/">Droid Charge</a>, and will offer a 4.3-inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus display, run on Android 2.3.6 and come with a 8MP rear camera, front-facing cam and HDMI port. We're hoping to get more specs for your enjoyment, but enjoy the press release in the meantime.<br /> <br /> <br /></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/01/us-cellular-lte-samsung/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>US Cellular intros first LTE devices: the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G and Galaxy S Aviator 4G</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/01/us-cellular-lte-samsung/">US Cellular intros first LTE devices: the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G and Galaxy S Aviator 4G</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 01 Feb 2012 12:33:00 EDT. The race to construct the thinnest phones on the market doesn't help much either, since whittling down handsets results in less space for generously sized battery packs. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/07/motorola-droid-razr-review/">Motorola Droid RAZR</a> is currently the slimmest phone this side of the Pacific, offering a thickness of 7.1mm at its thinnest end, and the title likely won't hold for long as new phones like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/huawei-ascend-p1-s-and-p1-hands-on/">Huawei Ascend P1 S</a> aim to knock the RAZR off its throne. But at what point do we stand up and insist on adding a little extra heft for the sake of having a bigger battery?<br /><br /><div class="follow_this_in_post"> <img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/11/more_info_header_1.gif" /><br /> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/07/motorola-droid-razr-review/">Droid RAZR review</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/26/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-available-now-more-battery-same-shape/">Droid RAZR Maxx available now</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/15/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-hands-on-video/">Droid RAZR Maxx hands-on at CES</a></div></div>Enter the Motorola <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/15/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-hands-on-video/">Droid RAZR Maxx</a>. A mere two months after its predecessor was released on Verizon, this new contender came around to challenge the battery life of every single next-gen phone we've ever used. Its back end has been filled out somewhat to make room for a bigger battery, but at 8.99mm, it's still slimmer than a huge number of competing handsets on the market today. So what makes the Maxx different from the RAZR? Is it worth paying $300 with a two-year commitment -- a $100 premium over its original? Read on to find out.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-overview/">Motorola Droid Razr Maxx overview</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-overview/#4785835"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09586_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-overview/#4785836"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09590_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-overview/#4785837"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09606_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-overview/#4785838"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09619-1327994020_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-overview/#4785839"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09627-1327994022_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/31/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/31/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-review/">Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 31 Jan 2012 14:00:00 EDT. An HTC PI86100 Windows Phone with AT&amp;T-specific LTE (bands 4 and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/lte%20band%2017/">17</a>) showing up in the hallowed halls of the FCC? Why, this must be the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/htc-titan-ii-with-lte-for-atandt-hands-on-video/">Titan II</a>, announced a tad over <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/htc-titan-2-coming-to-atandt/">a fortnight ago</a>. Docs show that a production unit of the device, sporting the aforementioned LTE bands as well as 850 / 1900 3G (also AT&amp;T compatible), is ready to take on its new Windows Phone competition sometime soon. Is it a guarantee that the phone is nigh at hand? Not quite, but at least it signifies that the 16 megapixel beast is one step closer to showing up in our hands.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-titan-ii-in-the-fcc/">HTC Titan II in the FCC</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-titan-ii-in-the-fcc/#4780726"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/titan2fcc3_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-titan-ii-in-the-fcc/#4780725"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/titan2fcc2_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-titan-ii-in-the-fcc/#4780724"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/titan2fcc-1327696408_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/27/htc-titan-ii-fcc/">HTC Titan II works its charm on the FCC with AT&amp;T LTE included</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 27 Jan 2012 15:24:00 EDT. Brad Molen's here too, and while he's admittedly all US of A through and through, he can still say "eh" like the best of 'em. We kid, of course, but we're serious that we want you to join us tomorrow afternoon at 5PM ET!<br /><br /><strong>Note: </strong>Oh, and there's plenty of other stuff to talk about as well, so if RIM isn't your schtick, you'll probably still find it of interest. Its lineup of BlackBerry smartphones are known for great battery life, comfortable keyboards with intuitive shortcuts, top-notch native email and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/blackberry+enterprise+server/">Enterprise</a> clients and -- most important to businesses -- unrivaled security features. Sure, its influence is waning as competitors have caught up in some areas (and surpassed it in others), but there are plenty of companies that have clung to their CrackBerries and held on tight.<br /><br />RIM's been hard at work trying to regain lost momentum by introducing a series of new devices featuring its latest OS, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/blackberry%207/">BlackBerry 7</a>, and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/16/blackberry-bold-9930-review/">BlackBerry Bold 9900 / 9930 series</a> has been the star of the show so far. The problem is, it's not flashy enough. How is a C-level exec supposed to walk proudly on the golf course with a $300 (subsidized) phone? Talk about embarrassing. Have no fear, poor corporate top dog, luxury brand Porsche Design has come up with a solution: the $2,300 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/12/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981/">BlackBerry P'9981</a>, a Vertu-ized version of that lesser handset you wouldn't be caught dead using.<br /><br /><div class="follow_this_in_post"> <img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/11/more_info_header_1.gif" /><br /> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/12/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981/">BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9981 hands-on</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/20/rims-blackberry-porsche-design-p9981-gets-splayed-by-the-fcc/">BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9981 hits FCC</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/27/porsche-design-p9981-blackberry-provides-a-long-awaited-design/">Porsche Design P'9981 introduced</a></div></div>The P'9981 is available only in the UK and the Middle East for now, so until the device arrives in the US this Spring, anyone who lives stateside will have to rely on retailers to import some in. Fortunately we got the hookup by our friends at <a href="https://negrielectronics.com/">Negri Electronics</a>, who happily lent us one of the few handsets they have in stock. As a result, we're now able to discuss the real questions circling around such a Richie Rich smartphone: what in the blue blazes makes this so expensive? Is it even worth it? How different is it from a standard BlackBerry Bold 9900? You'll find these answers and plenty of mysteries unravelled after the break. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981-overview/">BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9981 overview</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981-overview/#4771430"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09117_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981-overview/#4771431"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09120-1327382542_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981-overview/#4771432"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09130-1327382547_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981-overview/#4771433"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09132-1327382552_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981-overview/#4771434"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/dsc09134-1327382557_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/24/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9981 review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/24/blackberry-porsche-design-p9981-review/">BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9981 review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 24 Jan 2012 14:00:00 EDT.
