Artcoustic vomits bling allover its Crystal line of wall-mounted speakers
It's a bit hard to tell if Artcoustic's latest wall-mounted, ultrathin loudspeakers, the Crystal line, are incredibly horrid or insanely awesome. There's no denying that high-end loving audiophiles are enticed by the brand -- but the Crystal line? Well, let's just say that adding a bunch of Swarovskis to any product won't necessarily make it better. Regardless, these bad boys are customizable and if you're into ostentation, they probably belong in your apartment. There's also a matching iPod dock available, and it'll run you about $3700 to get one, speaker included.
London's Radisson Edwardian Hampshire Hotel gets Artcoustic speakers
Remember those absurdly expensive (and extraordinarily desirable) Artcoustic speakers we peeked last month? If you're a few bucks short of being able to acquire your own, you may still be able to get a taste of what they offer. For guests checking into the 5-star Radisson Edwardian Hampshire Hotel on London's Leicester Square, you can take a listen to the various Diablo monitors and DFS100-75 / DFS75-55 subwoofers that are placed throughout the hotel's reception area, lobby and hallways. Sadly, there's no word on whether or not suites have been equipped with any Artcoustic kit, but c'mon, you know you'll be spending your free time in the main foyer just hoping to see Baby Spice prance through.[Via Widescreen Review]
Artcoustic reveals Spitfire Venue loudspeaker, subwoofer
Finally down to the short list for speakers? Before you pull the trigger, Artcoustic is hoping that you'll give its latest loudspeaker and subwoofer a glance. Up first is the two-way Spitfire Venue, which weighs in at just under 22-pounds, sports interchangeable screen options and should fit in just fine at a night club or guest room. You'll find a 10-inch woofer and a one-inch compression horn, which -- when paired up -- are capable of hitting notes anywhere between 40Hz and 18kHz. Taking care of the low-lows is the Spitfire Subwoofer (pictured), which actually relies on four 10-inch drivers and comes bundled with an 1,800-watt Artcoustic PA-1800 amplifier. Sadly, we've yet to be clued in on the price of the Venue, but considering the £1,485 ($2,922) sticker attached to the subbie, we'd surmise that these are most suited for the high-end sect, anyway.
