The new 'Back to the Future' vinyl box set is a work of art
The so-called "future day" -- the day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel forward in time to in Back to the Future Part II -- is fast approaching. As such, the movie and music memorabilia masters at Mondo have put together a truly fitting record collection: The score for all three Back to the Future films will be available in full on vinyl for the first time. You can either pick up each movie individually as a two-record set for $35 each, or you can get all six records in an amazingly creative and beautiful box set. The full box set will run you $105. The individual album versions feature new artwork by Matt Taylor, who previously created screen-print Back to the Future posters for Mondo, while the box set artwork and design was done by DKNG Studios.
ZBoard's back in your future with a hoverboard and high top bundle
Remember when we told you about HalloweenCostumes.com's officially-licensed light-up high tops from Back To The Future Part II? We joked that the kicks would have gone great with ZBoard's limited-edition Hoverboard that it produced for the Michael J. Fox foundation last year. Unfortunately, only 50 decks and 25 full boards were created for the auction, so it looks as if that (time-traveling) train has sailed. Well, until now, that is, since the company has now produced a general-sale run of its bright pink electric skateboard, and will even sell you the high tops in a single bundle. The board on its own will set you back $600, while a set with the futuristic kicks is priced at $700, plus one lucky competition winner will win a complete replica of Marty McFly's future outfit from the movie. Be warned, however, as you've only got 14 days to scrounge together the cash, or else you'll be outtatime (geddit?).

Electric DeLorean DMC-12 prototype goes round and round (and round) in test drive video
It's already clear that you're selling everything you own in an effort to purchase a 2013 DeLorean DMC-12 EV (and in turn, apply for a home tax deduction when you begin to live out of it), but what hasn't been clear is exactly how it'd perform on the wide open road. Truthfully, we still aren't entirely certain of that, but thanks to a raucous new video of a prototype on the track, we do know that it looks like the most (PG) fun you can have while sitting atop four wheels. We aren't going to hold you here any longer -- hop on past the break and mash play. 60mph in 4.9. 88mph in however long you want.
DeLorean DMC-12 EV announced for 2013 production, Doc Brown's whip gets real... electric
An electric-powered, production DeLorean? Believe it. It's in part thanks to the eponymously dubbed DeLorean Motor Company of Texas (not to be confused with long defunct DMC), which is known for its modernized restorations of the famed auto -- using original parts with slight modifications incorporating newer accoutrement. The automaker took to its blog this weekend announcing a partnership with Epic EV to make this "all-electric" DMC-12 a reality. Your Houston News reports that it's rated for 260 horsepower with a maximum speed of 125MPH -- although, we all know there's no need to go past 88MPH. It's expected to cost about six-figures, which sadly won't include a Flux Capacitor, but you could always run the app for that with its in-console iPhone holster. The DMC-12 EV is set to be released in 2013, and should be an excellent match for anyone who secured some of those Marty McFly-approved Nike Air Mags a few weeks ago. What's this? Nike is rounding up shoe-nerds (and Back to the Future fans) to taunt them with futuristic metal shield glasses, 1980s candy, and a personal messages from Doc Brown? Could this shoe-filled YouTube tease (uploaded by DocEmmettBrown88) mean that Nike is bringing nerdom's coolest kicks back from the future? Probably. You can breathe a little easier if you've been eagerly anticipating Telltale's five-episode Back to the Future series, as USA Today has just confirmed some of its key inclusions: 1. Marty McFly and Doc Brown 2. Christopher Lloyd voicing Doc Brown 3. Hill Valley 4. 1985 5. BttF screenwriter Bob Gale's guidance 6. The DeLorean We've worked with a team of experts to prepare a list of things we still need confirmed for the episodic game to allow our hearts to open and our expectations to run free, like majestic, time-traveling ponies: 1. Hoverboards. 2. Huey Lewis Seriously guys, what's up?
Back to the Future Blu-ray trailer revealed
Get an early peek at the Back to the Future 25th Anniversary Edition restored footage in this trailer (embedded after the break.) Not that a YouTube stream can hope to match Blu-ray, but you can click the 1080p switch and pretend it's October 26 already. Where we're going, we don't need (to wait for) discs.
Today's most time-traveling video: GTA: Vice City Back to the Future mod
Quite possibly one of the coolest mods we've seen for GTA: Vice City lies in this Back to the Future mod for the PC. It has the scorching tire marks, time travel, the flying DeLorean, the hoverboard, and another surprise at the very end, courtesy of the imagination of Doc Brown. It's a pity we can't see this on the consoles, but that won't keep us from dreaming about whipping that baby up to 88 miles per hour just to see what will happen. While it would have been cool if they could have worked Biff into this somehow, or let us travel back to the Wild West, it's still much more than impressive. We're going to bust out the DVD box set now and remember what 1985 was like.
Back to the Future coming to UHD
We always give Universal HD a hard time, we make jokes about Knight Rider and other old shows that they choose to fill their schedule with. Sure they have Battlestar Galactica and now Firefly, but even these shows are about 6 months behind the SiFi network. We do realize they're coming around and now they are going to show one of our favorite movies, Back To The Future. It does appear to be a limit engagement so make sure you catch it on October 8th at 9pm EST.[Via AVSForum.com]
