IOGEAR's latest matrix switcher can stream different video sources to up to four receivers
IOGEAR may've departed from the all-black styling we're used to this year, but it hasn't been able to dream up anything sexier than another utilitarian title for its latest matrix switcher. The "Long Range Wireless 5x2 HD Matrix Pro" does all the same things IOGEAR's existing switcher announced at CES 2013 can: wirelessly beam uncompressed 1080p video and audio from any of five digital or analog sources to a receiver plugged into another TV. What you get with the "Pro" version, however, is twice the range (up to 200 ft), and way more importantly, the ability to stream to up to four different receivers instead of just one. They can each pull video from any of the input sources, too, so every daughter box can hit up the main unit up for different content. There is a mark-up for that extra functionality, though -- the Matrix Pro will retail for around $700 when it launches later this year.
Extron's MPX Plus 866: first matrix switcher with DSP
It's rather difficult to say whether or not DSP within a matrix switcher is -- how do you say... necessary? -- but regardless of want versus need, Extron Electronics is providing the ends. The MPX Plus 866 is hailed as a "a revolutionary new multi-format matrix switcher with integrated audio digital signal processing," the industry's first to wed VGA, video and audio signal routing with ProDSP. Said audio processing platform is based on a 32 / 64-bit floating point DSP engine, which offers up "an extensive selection of audio DSP tools designed to facilitate audio system design, configuration, and commissioning." Pricing has yet to be made public, but given how specialized this is, don't count on it being cheap.
RTI busts out V6 / A8 matrix switchers and CP-1680 audio amp
These are primarily for the pros, so we'll keep it short and sheet. RTI is getting set to unveil a trio of new products at CEDIA, the first of which routes eight analog audio and eight composite video sources to eight individual zones. Needless to say, that's the A8 Audio Distribution Matrix Switcher we're referring to. The V6 Video Distribution Matrix Switcher can switch six component and composite video sources between six varying zones, while the CP-1680 Multi-Channel Audio Amplifier provides audio through 16 channels at 80-watts each. Atlona's 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switches go HDMI 1.3
If you'll recall, Atlona Technologies was pretty proud of its flat HDMI 1.3b-certified cables, and now it's pausing to announce that it's replacing its entire inventory of 4X4 matrix switchers with versions that are 1.3 savvy. As expected, the units will feature a RS-232 control port, a remote and include all the luxuries -- 10.2Gbps of bandwidth, support for 1440p / Deep Color, etc. -- of HDMI 1.3. It should be noted that the new flavor is still priced at $1,099, but we've got a hunch you could score a fantastic deal on those leftover units that just become old hat.
TVOne intros 1T-MX-3344 component Matrix Routing Switcher
Hot on the heels of its 1T-DA-631 HDMI Extender comes the rack-mountable 1T-MX-3344 component Matrix Routing Switcher from TVOne. Granted, component uses are slowly fading, but for those still relying on the ole green / red / blue, this here device provides four inputs and four outputs with stereo audio jacks accompanying them all. As you'd expect, it enables any of the four inputs to be "routed to a single output, multiple outputs or all outputs," and resolutions from 480i to 1080p are supported. Users can control the action via the front panel buttons, an IR remote or the RS-232 interface, but it'll cost you a stiff $595 for the privilege.
Key Digital offering Matrix Switching over CAT5 solutions
We already knew Key Digital had distribution of HDMI over Ethernet down pat, but now the firm is expanding its offerings with a few new Matrix Switching over CAT5 solutions. The KD-MSV8X8-CAT5 Bundle includes a KD-MSV8X8 Video Matrix Switcher (pictured), a KD-CAT5XRCA CAT5 video / audio balun and KD-CAT5PANEL rack mount for piping loads of HD content to various sources over tried and true CAT5 cabling. There's definitely a good bit more where this came from, so if you're scouting the full (and we mean full) release, head on past the break.
