'Resident Evil' TV show rumors point to Netflix
So what's next for Netflix? The service seems to have a little bit of everything in the works, and the latest rumor from Deadline says that it's planning a Resident Evil TV series. This news arrives with a remake of Resident Evil 2 ready to drop tomorrow on PS4, Xbox One and PC, with a suggestion the series could "expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the existing mythology." It's apparently in development from German production company Constantin Film, which also produced all six movies in the film franchise. As one would expect from anything bearing the Resident Evil name, series plans include looks inside the shadowy Umbrella Corporation behind the outbreak, as well as the new world order rising up in the wake of the T-Virus. We wouldn't expect to see Milla Jovovich and W.S. Anderson involved this time around, but they've moved on to another video game series -- Monster Hunter.
Capcom pulls in-game ads from 'Street Fighter V'
Were you less than thrilled with Capcom throwing ads into Street Fighter V? You'll be glad to hear that they're gone, at least for now. Polygon and others have noticed that Sponsored Content ads have disappeared from both the "ad-style" costumes (which remain available) and the stages themselves. The company hasn't explained the move, but series producer Yoshinori Ono said in mid-December that the team was "collecting everyone's feedback" on Sponsored Content.
'Street Fighter V' will display in-game ads starting December 11th
Fighting game fans are used to seeing ads in tournaments, but now they're infiltrating the games themselves. Capcom is introducing "sponsored content" to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on December 11th to promote its purchasable bundles, costumes and the Pro Tour. You'll see them on costumes, in certain stages and on pre-fight loading screens. This isn't concerning by itself (many real sports have ads, after all), but Capcom goes out of its way to discourage you from turning the ads off.
'Devil May Cry' series coming from the producer of 'Castlevania'
After Adi Shankar chalked up a hit with his animated Castlevania series on Netflix, what's he going to do next? Why, adapt another classic, darkly-themed video game franchise, of course. Shankar told IGN in an interview that he's developing an animated Devil May Cry series as part of what he says is a "bootleg multiverse." He did buy the rights, to be clear -- he's just making sure the "jabronis in Hollywood" don't mess up the treatment of Capcom's stylish shoot-and-slash titles. There's not much to show beyond that, although Shankar did post a teaser picture showing what looks like Dante from the DMC games.
Three ‘Resident Evil’ classics are heading to the Nintendo Switch
Capcom is bringing a trio of classic Resident Evil games to the Nintendo Switch. The company announced via Twitter today that Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 4 will soon shamble onto Nintendo's platform. No concrete release dates have been given, just that they'll arrive sometime in 2019.
‘Devil May Cry 5’ fans in Japan get insane $8,000 bundle
If you plan on dressing up as Dante for Halloween, this is the jacket to get. Capcom has announced a new Devil May Cry 5 "Ultra Limited Edition" bundle via its E-Capcom website. The bundle includes a copy of the game -- either for Xbox One or PS4 -- interchangeable box art, and a life-sized leather replica of Dante's jacket.
The early 'Phoenix Wright' games are heading to PC and more consoles
Phoenix Wright, Maya Fey and their gang of falsely accused clients are making their way to more platforms in the West. At the 2018 Tokyo Game Show, Capcom has announced that the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy -- the first Ace Attorney game, Justice for All and Trials and Tribulations -- will head to the PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch in 2019.

Capcom releases 'Mega Man' classics cartridges
As promised, Capcom's Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X playable game cartridges are available now from iam8bit's online store for $100 each. Meaning if you put in a pre-order for either -- or both -- back in May, they'll be making their way to you stat.
'Resident Evil 2' remake's Story trailer features familiar faces
We got our hands on Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake earlier this year at E3 2018, but now it's showing off a "Story" trailer and some familiar characters at the Tokyo Game Show. It's our most extensive look at gameplay since the remake was announced three years ago, with peeks at zombie dogs, mysterious woman of action Ada Wong and many others. Of course Claire and Leon are the stars, but, as Capcom explains in a blog post, the old "zapping" story method where one playthrough could have effects on your next one is no longer present in this edition, with each instead having a separate campaign for you to play through. Resident Evil 2 will be reborn for PS4, Xbox One and PC on January 25th, 2019.
Capcom closes Vancouver studio behind ‘Dead Rising’
Video game publisher Capcom is shutting down its Vancouver studio and around 158 employees will be let go. The company told Variety that operations were suspended Tuesday and a skeleton crew would remain on board until January in order to finalize the closure. "Capcom has been focused on increasing the efficiency and growth of its game development operations," a spokesperson told Variety. "To support this objective, new R&D facilities and annual hiring have been underway at the Osaka headquarters. In consideration of this process, as a result of reviewing titles in development at Capcom Vancouver, Capcom has decided to cancel the development projects at this studio and will concentrate development of major titles in Japan."
PS2 classic 'Onimusha: Warlords' will be remastered for modern platforms
Stop me if you've heard this before: One of Capcom's defining series during the PlayStation 2 era is getting remastered for modern hardware. No, it's not Resident Evil (again), this time it's Onimusha: Warlords. The port features widescreen display options, fixed camera angles, countless sword fights and remastered visuals throughout (characters, cinematics and environments, according to the PlayStation Blog). So, a bit of the new with the familiar.

Ten years after the debut of Devil May Cry 4, Nero is back in the driver's seat and he's never looked better. It's not just the haircut, either -- Devil May Cry 5 runs on the RE Engine built for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and Capcom's goal is to build a photorealistic game filled with gooey demons, witty one-liners and flashy combos. The title's first hands-on demo at Gamescom 2018 highlights these exact elements and wraps all of it up in an ichor-crusted, gorgeous package.

Devil May Cry 5 is due to land on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on March 8th, 2019, Capcom announced today during the special Gamescom edition of the Inside Xbox livestream. Devil May Cry 5 is the sequel to Devil May Cry 4, which came out in 2008, and it marks the return of series shepherd Hideaki Itsuno as director. Ninja Theory briefly took over the franchise with DmC: Devil May Cry in 2013, and while Devil May Cry 5 takes some styling tips from that game, it doesn't follow its storyline directly.

Capcom made a ridiculous typewriter keyboard for 'Resident Evil 2'
Over the years, Capcom has had some wild ideas for physical Resident Evil tie-ins. A Bluetooth keyboard modeled after Resident Evil 2's iconic Lexington typewriter might take the cake for the coolest one, though. Unlike the dollhouse that was part of the Resident Evil 7 special edition or the chainsaw controller from Resident Evil 4, folks who are really into keyboards (or typewriters) might actually get some use out of this.
'Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition' gains Sagat and newcomer G
The roster for Street Fighter V's Arcade Edition will today gain two new fighters. An announcement on PlayStation Blog confirmed that both series icon Sagat and mysterious newcomer G -- who were first revealed for Street Fighter V's third season during the 2017 Capcom Cup -- are joining the fray.
The US Army's 'Street Fighter V' tournament starts Saturday
The US Army is getting in on the esports craze too, but the game isn't one you might expect. Instead of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds or Rainbow Six Siege, the military is hosting a tournament for Street Fighter V. The competition will be broadcast on Twitch starting tomorrow from Fort Bliss. The winner from each garrison (tournaments run through the 25th) will go on to the sold-out Grand Finals at PAX West in Seattle on September 1st. What will the winning soldier get for their efforts? A two-night stay at the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas along with a $500 gift card, an Army esports jersey, commemorative coin and Twitch gear.
'Monster Hunter: World' makes its PC debut August 9th
Last E3 Capcom announced that Monster Hunter: World would be out for PlayStation 4, Xbox one and PC. There hasn't been much, if any, news about the game's PC port since, but that's all changed: Come August 9th, the co-op boss fight game will be available on Steam. It's up for pre-order already if you're feeling impatient, with a few in-game bonuses for doing so to boot.
'Resident Evil 2' is the classic you remember but with a good camera
Wow, those intestines are really pretty. I never expected that particular phrase to pass through my mind, but it definitely did during my playthrough of the new Resident Evil 2 remake -- and more than once. Twenty years after its launch on the original PlayStation, RE2 has been essentially rebuilt from the ground up for modern platforms and it's nearly unrecognizable, at least from a visual standpoint. Gameplay-wise, however, it feels just like RE2.
