Toshiba announces 'no-frills' Satellite C660 laptop
We've got to give Toshiba a bit of credit here -- it's certainly not trying to sell its new Satellite C660 (and accompanying Satellite Pro model) as something it's not. Tossing around words like "adequate" and "no-frills," the company says that the revised Satellite is a "smart and affordable" solution, and it does indeed look like it'll satisfy those looking for only the basics. That includes a 15.6-inch display, your choice of Intel or AMD processors up to a Core i3 or Athlon II, integrated graphics only, up to 8GB of RAM, up to a 640GB hard drive, and a multitouch trackpad, among other standard fare. The only difference with the Pro model, it seems, is Windows 7 Professional for the OS, a black textured casing, and a "non-reflective" screen. No word on exact pricing just yet, but you can look for this one to at least be available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. Toshiba updates Satellite Pro line with Core i3 / i5, Athlon II-based models
New laptop processors mean new laptops, and Toshiba has now joined the party with four new Satellite Pro models packing Intel's latest Core i3 and i5 processors and AMD's new dual-core Athlon II. Those include the 15.6-inch C650 / C650D, the 13.3-inch L630, the 15.6-inch L650 / L650D, and the 17.3-inch L670 / 670D, all of which are available with Intel Core i3 or Core i5 processors, while those with a "D" suffix pack an Athlon II. Otherwise, each boast either a 1,600 x 900 or 1,366 x 768 LED-backlit display, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145 or integrated Intel GMA HD graphics, up to 8GB of RAM, an optional Blu-ray burner, and Toshiba's own Media Controller software to let you stream content to other networked devices, among other standard fare. Still no indication of pricing or availability over here, but the whole lot should at least be available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa sometime in the second quarter of this year. Toshiba's Satellite Pro S300-EZ2521 is as bland as they come
Ready for one more excuse to snooze through hump day? Here you go. Toshiba's Satellite Pro S300-EZ2521, obviously the latest in its growing S300 line, is about as perfectly average as a 15.4-inch laptop can be. We're talking a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 3GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB (5400RPM) hard drive, SuperMulti DVD burner, WXGA resolution panel, GMA 4500MHD graphics, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and a built-in webcam. Furthermore, the actual enclosure just screams "Designed For Office Cubes," and while we don't have confirmation just yet, we'd wager that the 40 metric tons of bloatware would further substantiate that claim. There's no mention of a price, but those in the market for a strictly-business machine should find it shipping any day now.
Toshiba launches Satellite Pro S300 / S300M laptops
Toshiba's never been one to really pump out laptops with oodles of sex appeal (a few Portégé machines notwithstanding), and its latest two are decidedly drab. Aimed squarely at business users, the 15.4-inch Satellite Pro S300 and the 14-inch Satellite Pro S300M (shown after the break) both include a 2-year warranty, support for docking, a business card reader, a USB Sleep-and-Charge / eSATA combo port and face recognition software. As for the S300, you can snag it with your choice of a Core 2 Duo CPU, up to 3GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160GB 5,400 RPM hard drive, dual-layer DVD burner, WiFi / Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Intel's GMA4500MHD graphics, a built-in webcam / microphone and a 9-cell battery pack; the S300M gives you pretty much the same options but with a smaller screen and chassis. Toshiba announces Centrino 2-based Satellite Pro S300, Tecra M10 and Tecra A10
Get ready for a flood of Centrino 2 laptops, kids -- hot on the heels of Intel's big announcement and Sony and Lenovo's updated lineups comes Toshiba with the new Satellite Pro S300, Tecra M10 and A10, and Qosmio X305, F55 and Cell-based G55. The Qosmios actually aren't that new -- all three of them were initially announced back in June, but they're actually available now, with the gaming-oriented X305 exclusive to Best Buy. The $1,299 Satellite Pro S300 (pictured) is a little more interesting, with a 2.4GHz P8600 Core 2 Duo on Centrino 2's 1066MHz bus and Intel 4500MD integrated graphics powering a 15.4-inch display, as well as sleep-and-charge USB ports and a docking port. The more business-oriented Tecra lappies also get a similar Centrino 2 treatment, sharing a motherboard design to reduce repair costs. The $1,399 M10 sports a 14.1-inch screen, while the 15.4-inch A10's pricing hasn't been announced. Toshiba gets official with five new Satellite Pro laptops
We're not quite sure how much more official-er Toshiba could really get with its freshest lineup of Satellite Pro laptops, but five "new" models are being trumpeted today as the latest in its ever-expanding family of business essential lappies. Up first, we have the 15.4-inch L300 / L300D, which arrives with Intel Core 2 Duo / AMD dual-core CPUs (respectively), a TruBrite display, 802.11a/b/g WiFi and an integrated webcam with microphone. Also on tap is the 14.1-inch M300, 13.3-inch U400 and the beastly 17-inch L350. We won't bore you with specifications you've already committed to memory, but needless to say, any of the aforesaid machines are readily available and boast starting prices between $699 and $1,149. Toshiba keeps 'em coming with the Satellite L300 / U400
While not radically different than the Satellite A300 and P300 we peeked late last month, Toshiba is rolling out yet another pair in the L300 (pictured) and U400. As for the former, you can expect a 15.4-inch 1,280 x 800 resolution panel, a 1.3-megapixel camera, integrated WiFi and the usual complement of ports. Moving onto the U400, you'll find a smaller 13.3-inch display, ATI Mobility Radeon graphics, built-in Harman Kardon speakers, integrated webcam / microphone, Bluetooth and WiFi to boot. Unfortunately, we're not told whether or not the L300 will be available with a Penryn chip, but word on the street has the April-bound U400 checking in with one of Intel's prior processors or a CPU from its arch rival AMD.Read - Satellite L300Read - Satellite U400
Toshiba brings the Satellite Pro back with the A210 and A200 laptops
We're pretty certain we just saw a new Satellite Pro-branded Toshiba laptop in August, but Toshiba's making some big noise about "re-launching" the label with its new A200 and A210 business lappies, and who are we to spoil a party? The new machines both rock 15.4-inch screens, 120GB disks, dual-layer burners, and XP Pro, with the Santa Rosa-based A200 rocking a 2GHz Intel T7250 Core 2 Duo, X3100 integrated graphics, and 1GB of RAM, and a dual-layer burner for $999, and the AMD-based A210 crunching bits with a 2GHz Turion 64 X2, ATI X1200 graphics, and a more generous 2GB of RAM for $899. No word on when these are shipping, but none of this tech is particularly bleeding-edge, so we'd guess it's going to be soon.[Via Laptoping, thanks, Danijel]
Toshiba unveils Satellite U300 lineup
On the heels of the U305 announcement, Toshiba has quietly upped a pair of U300 machines to its website. The Satellite U300 and Satellite Pro U300 don't differ too awfully much, but the two do sport differing color schemes and arrive with varying levels of RAM, hard drive space, and battery capacity. Regardless, both machines come stocked with Intel Core 2 Duo processors, at least 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 120GB to 200GB of HDD space, a dual-layer DVD burner, a 13.3-inch WXGA display, Intel's GMA X3100 graphics accelerator, and the usual array of ports including VGA, USB 2.0, audio in / out, and a multicard reader.
