Scitec's Swarovski skullphones: Look what the cat dragged in

Somehow, we don't think that this was what Swarovski had in mind when they began whoring their luxury name onto consumer electronics a few years ago. The Scitec SEB-100 canal-type earbuds with fancy, "hand-pasted" crystals will cost ¥10,000 (about 100 US beans) when they hit Japan later this month. The perfect gift for the glam-rock pansy struggling with middle age on your Malibu, beachside block.

Sonoro's saucy Swarovski-covered elements stardust radio demands $2,500

"Sonoro" and "absurdly expensive" have always gone hand-in-hand, but even we're a bit taken aback by the sticker on this one. The company's latest example of extravagance is the elements stardust, an "exclusive" AM / FM / MP3 clock radio that's smothered from one end to the other in Swarovski crystals. This thing's not all looks, though -- it's got a LED-illuminated metal ring for quick-touch control of tuning and volume, a full-range speaker, and an integrated bass reflex tube. Too bad you'll have to sashay down to Saks Fifth Avenue with $2,500 and an evil grin in order to take one home.

Pentax K-m DSLR gets smothered in Swarovski crystals

No, you can't order a Pentax K-m with live view, but you can end up with one littered in Swarovski crystals. Over at Photokina, this gem (ahem) was proudly on display, reportedly aimed at dames in the crowd with a thing for fashion and technology. A company representative wouldn't disclose pricing, through she did say any prospective buyers could phone up Pentax to talk cheddar.

Charmed by Philips' latest Active Crystals USB drives

Ok, you've really gone and put us in a twist this time Philips. The he-man editors of Engadget haven't exactly been wooed by Philips' lineup of Active Crystals USB drives slathered in Swarovski excess. Then again, we're not their target audience. Somehow though, these new 2GB Happy Laura and Naughty Raymond USB drive robots make us want to titter coyly with demure fingertips pressed lightly to our pouty mouths. But for €150 (about $223), we won't.

iriver's Mplayer ties one on

Eww. Clearly, the jaded, nicotine-stained Engadget editor in his big-boy trousers is not the target for the latest incarnation of the iriver Mplayer. While the 1GB innards remain unchanged, iriver has slathered the ¥14,800 (about $137) MP3 player in a healthy crust of Swarovski and silk to invoke the little girl trapped inside us all. Swarovski-studded LG 47LB90FD LCD HDTV makes grand entrance

LG's Xcanvas line of LCD HDTVs look mighty sexy as-is, in our humble opinion, but we're certain a little extravagance can't hurt. The 1080p 47LB90FD has a surprisingly sparkly base that's doused in Swarovski crystals, and as you can likely glean, it'll only be released in limited quantities. Sadly, the nitty-gritty details on this thing are few and far between, but when you're talking about a ritzy ₩3.3 million ($3,204) HDTV, who needs a contrast ratio?

FCC outs Philips Breeze headset -- Swarovski never looked so greasy

Wow. Mr. FCC Photog trumps even Mr. Blurry Cam when it comes to blowing the easy spy shot. That's Philips unannounced Bluetooth Breeze headset with Swarovski crystals presented in a rich, man-glaze of test-lab sauce. According to the manual, the Active Crystals Breeze is your standard Bluetooth headset only this one is "designed by women, for women." Seriously, are we really that different?

If you've covered your entire house in gold and diamonds and are left with little else to pimp out, you can always move on to the kitchen. The Nespresso Crystal Edition coffee machine is covered with 3100 Swarovski crystals and will only run you about £1,995 (or about $4,000). But does it make coffee? Does it ever - it comes with a removable grill for macciato lattes, sports an illuminated collecting pan for your used coffee capsules, and does it all with the single press of a pretty, shiny, blingy button.

MacBook Air gets smothered in Swarovski crystals, loses innocence

For whatever reason, products designed in Cupertino have a strange attraction to precious coverings -- ones created with gold and diamonds, namely. Nary a month after Apple's thinnest laptop ever started shipping out to eager early adopters, over 8,000 Swarovski crystals have somehow found their way onto a totally helpless MBA. We wish we could say it was defaced and stripped of its soul for a good cause, but sadly, it wasn't.

Philips adds to Swarovski Active Crystals line, now with more color

Oh ho, it looks like Philips' out of character endeavor with Swarovski to add their own special brand of bling to USB keys and in-ear headphones must have really taken off. Apparently enough Active Crystals units are currently gracing handbags and murses everywhere to warrant an update to the line, which now features -- wait for it -- color. For the low, low price of $99 you'll be able to take home a stunning pair of cans in luxurious "Space Violet." And if you're dead set on shelling out $179 to bedazzle your or your loved one's thumb drive in violet or black, you'll be in luck come Valentine's Day (awww, innit sweet?).

When you really love Hello Kitty, it's safe to say that one of anything featuring her image is never enough. If you know what we mean, you may want to check into the latest high-end entry in the canon: the NEC LaVie G Hello Kitty edition -- a follow-up to this Summer's LaVie -- once again featuring images of the ubiquitous cat studded in breathtaking Swarovski crystals. Underneath the glitz you'll find a 15.4-inch WXGA display, an AMD Turion CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, plus a DVD+RW and a handful of USB ports which will allow you to plug in your Hello Kitty flash drives and the like. Right now this sweet puppy kitty is only available in Japan, and will run you around ¥210,000 ($1,840) -- but we don't think that will stop you.

Regardless of the level of your honesty with us (which we now believe to be lower than expected), you'll want to get your grubby mitts all over these fancy pieces of technology / jewelry. Gresso's cross- and apple-shaped flash drives supposedly transmute the story of Adam & Eve into African mahogany, 18-karat gold, Swarovski crystals, and white diamonds. Inside the dolled-up necklaces, you'll find a 1GB USB drive, which will be perfect for holding all the pictures of yourself that you carry around, or video clips of you and your friends on the catwalk. The drives will be available sometime this month, and prices range from a bourgeois $100, all the way up to an aristocratic $1000.

Viewsonic shows off crystal-clad VX2255 monitor

Viewsonic's original VX2255 display didn't exactly stand out all that much when it was first announced way back at CES, but that certainly won't be the case with the company's latest revision to the monitor, which now comes clad in Swarovski crystals like so many other gadgets. Lending a hand in that area is G Mask International, which Viewsonic has partnered with to let you customize the monitor to your liking. As for the monitor itself, you can expect some decent if unremarkable specs, including a 22-inch screen size, 1680 x 1050 resolution, 5 ms response time, and 1,000:1 contrast ratio, along with an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, speakers, and microphone. No word on what it'll cost, but those in Singapore will be able to check the monitor out first hand at the Comex Show that gets underway later this month.

Sony offering up Swarovski crystal-clad E010 DAPs

Just in case you've been out of the loop for some time, this DAP certainly won't go down as the first to come glazed in Swarovski crystals, but Sony has nevertheless teamed up with Abiste Corporation to craft the limited edition Walkman E010 lineup. The players will be available in pink, violet, black, blue, or gold colors, have removable caps adorned with Swarovski glass crystals, and won't arrive to your domicile for two solid months after you initially place an order. 'Course, those even remotely interested in one of these beauties should know that it won't come sans a premium, and while you can snag the lowly 1GB flavor for "just" ¥15,800 ($134), the 2GB rendition will run you ¥18,800 ($160) while the 4GB unit demands ¥24,800 ($210) -- while supplies last, mind you.

Swarovski's LED couture

If you're like us, you're probably sitting there thinking, "Why don't I have more seizures?" Well luckily crystal-maker Swarovski and designer Hussein Chalayan have got you covered -- literally. This dress was shown for the company's 2007-2008 collection, and while we've seen this kind of thing before, this garment functions a little differently. Beneath the translucent crystal "material" is a grid of LED chips, which display patterns and can apparently run short video clips. For you fashion plates eager to pick one up, the cost will clock in around $16,000. How you sit down and the amount of D batteries required is currently unknown.
