Ask Massively: Future psychics edition

In honor of this week's big news at the time of this writing, we here at Ask Massively have decided to reveal to our readers that we are not just repositories of information both useful and esoteric -- we are also future psychics. As proof of our powers, we have decided to explain to the world exactly what will happen when Cataclysm launches, starting with the fact that it will sell approximately fourteen hojillion copies within five minutes, thus breaking sales records previously set by the exact same game.

Two days out from release, an uberguild will have cleared every ounce of available content and will be asking why Blizzard is dragging its heels on the next raid. Three days out will mark the Running of the Wolves, as the Alliance areas are swarmed with worgen of every conceivable hue. Four days out, we'll be in full-on meme status for at least one boss.

But for today, we have questions about Warhammer 40,000 and Transformers, but we can always use more. Mail your questions along to ask@massively.com or just leave them in the comments!

NRD8OY asks: When do you think we will see some more info about Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online?

Well, at this point the game is speculatively tagged for release sometime in 2013, so in all likelihood we won't see a major press ramp-up until late next year. And from a marketing standpoint, that makes sense. At the moment, the big games pushing for front-page coverage are Guild Wars 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and World of Warcraft's expansion. Late next year, all three will have launched, and it's the best time to try and start enticing players to come over and put their eggs in a new basket.

That being said, we have gotten bits and pieces of news out of the team, so it's a sure thing that the game is progressing along quietly.

SkyyD asks: Has anyone ever thought to ask when we'll see a Transformers MMORPG? (NOT for kids please god not a kiddie game.) And all of the awesome features it should/would contain?

You've certainly come to the right place with that particular question. Unfortunately, the last news we heard was back at the beginning of August, and there was no word on whether or not American players would be taking part in the game in the first place. That's not necessarily a bad thing, considering some of the games the franchise has produced.

If you're hoping for a non-kid-oriented game, however, you're also likely to be a bit disappointed when and if such a thing comes to fruition. Hasbro has said repeatedly that adult fans make up somewhere between 10-15% of their market. We're significant enough that they don't ignore us, but not quite significant enough that a game would be developed solely for our benefit.
