Audi adds a $995 monthly tier to its subscription service
Last year, Audi launched a test run of Audi Select, a monthly subscription service that gives drivers access to their choice of vehicles from the company's lineup. Today, the German carmaker announced a new, cheaper tier of the service called Core Collection. For $995 per month, subscribers will be able to drive around their choice of Audi A4 and S3 sedans, the Q5 SUV or the TT Coupe. As with the original Audi Select program, Core Collection will only be available at select dealerships in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the time being.
Audi's self-driving EV concept filters out rush-hour stress
Many folks are cool on autonomous cars because we actually like to drive, but nobody wants to be stuck in rush hour or city congestion. Audi has addressed those concerns with the AI:ME, its latest urban concept car. The Level 4 self-driving EV would allow you to chill and be entertained in your vehicle, rather than getting stressed by traffic jams and angry drivers.
EU believes BMW, Daimler and VW colluded over clean emissions tech
The European Commission believes BMW, Daimler and Volkswagen worked together to delay clean emissions technology. Last fall, the EU Commission launched a formal investigation to determine if the automakers breached EU antitrust rules by restricting competition on the development of emissions-reducing technology. Now, in a Statement of Objections, the Commission has informed BMW, Daimler and VW of its "preliminary view" that they did in fact violate antitrust rules -- meaning they also led to higher emissions and denied consumers the opportunity to buy less polluting cars.
Audi's Silvercar service will deliver and pick up your car for you
Audi's premium Silvercar rental service has just become more convenient for customers in select downtown areas in New York City and San Francisco. It will now deliver and pick up rentals at customers' homes or a location of their choosing for an additional fee, so long as it's located somewhere in Manhattan at 42nd Street (NYC), Columbus Circle (NYC), Downtown Brooklyn (NYC), Williamsburg Brooklyn (NYC) and Union Square (SF).
Audi’s E-Tron line gets a bit more crowded with the Q4 crossover concept
Audi impressed us with the E-Tron SUV. It wowed us with the E-Tron GT and now it's hoping that its third EV will turn just as many heads. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the new Q4 E-Tron Concept takes the formula of the automaker's electric EV and shrinks it down a bit. The vehicle has an expected range of 280 miles and will probably compete with the Tesla Model Y more than the Model X. The automaker also announced an augmented reality HUD that project images so they look like they're 12 meters ahead of the vehicle. Sadly, they didn't have a demo of the system. Once it goes into production around the end of 2020, this crossover will be the first Audi where owners can customize their headlight startup signature.
What to expect from the Geneva Motor Show 2019
The Geneva Motor Show is about to begin and this year the focus will be electrification. From Audi to Volkswagen, the halls of the Palexpo will be filled the future of passenger transportation.
Tesla trumps Audi and Jaguar EVs in independent efficiency test
Tesla has had no end of production troubles in recent times. Even the roll-out of the Model 3 in Europe was marred by logistical issues. But there's a reason its EVs are still so widely-lauded despite these challenges: they're efficient. And that efficiency in comparison to Tesla's competitors has now been confirmed in a test conducted by German electric car rental company nextmove.
Audi helps you avoid red lights by suggesting speeds
Audi's cars already tell you how long a red light will last, but now they'll help you avoid those red lights in the first place. It's launching the first implementation of the Green Light Optimization Speed Advisory (GLOSA), a system that provides speed recommendations to reduce the amount of time you spend at red lights. The extension of Traffic Light Information technology combines your car's position and traffic light data to calculate an ideal speed that shows up on your vehicle's instrument cluster or heads-up display. In theory, you could save time by driving slightly slower and catching an uninterrupted string of green lights.
Audi teases its all-electric Q4 concept car
The third car in Audi's all-electric lineup isn't going on sale until early 2021, but that two-year wait gets a little bit harder when you see what's coming. Ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, the Automaker has shown off a series of concept designs for the Q4 e-tron, a compact SUV. According to a terse statement, Audi says the concept "provides a glimpse of the next stage of Audi electric mobility."
Audi bets you’ll pay extra for the A7's design and tech upgrades
Logically, you should buy the lower-cost Audi A6. I made an argument that when it comes to the A6 and A7. They share the same powertrain. They handle nearly identically. The problem is, we don't buy cars based on logic. Which is good news for the wonderful looking A7.
Audi’s A6 offers A7 performance for less money
The recently refreshed Audi A6 (starting at $58,900) isn't quite as nice as the refreshed A7 with its cool Sportback rear or the A8 with all-wheel steering. But that shouldn't deter you from taking one for a spin if you're shopping for it's more expensive siblings. In fact, in the bang-for-buck roundup, it's probably the Audi sedan to buy if you're more interested in performance over luxury.
Audi adds Q7 SUV to its Silvercar on-demand rental service
Audi is hoping to attract families and groups of travelers to its Silvercar service, through which you can reserve and unlock cars with your phone, by adding its Q7 to the fleet. You can now reserve the SUV in Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, Phoenix and Salt Lake City for rentals starting February 15th. Audi says it will make the Q7 available at its other Silvercar locations from June.
Audi puts VR in the backseat
The passenger seat of the car has gotten a bit more entertaining thanks to smartphones, tablets and video screens. But companies still think we can do more in our cars especially with autonomous vehicles right around the corner. Audi's been very bullish with coming up with ways to maximize our time in cars. "Content is a major driving force of the mobility of the future," said Audi's head of digital business Nils Wollny. So their latest venture is important. But it's also really fun.
Samsung's first Exynos Auto chip is coming to future Audi cars
Samsung's first Exynos chip for cars will power Audi's upgraded in-vehicle infotainment system starting in 2021, the company announced today. The Exynos Auto V9 is based on 8-nanometer (nm) process tech and comes complete with eight ARM Cortex-A76 cores, offering a max speed of 2.1 GHz. As a result, Samsung is promising premium audio features, multi-screen capabilities (with support for up to six displays and 12 camera connections). In addition, the Exynos Auto packs an ARM Mali G76 GPU, HiFi 4 audio digital signal processor and an intelligent neural processing unit.
Driving Audi’s beautiful E-Tron GT concept car
If an automaker unveils a concept car, the chances that anyone has the opportunity to set foot in that vehicle and drive it on the street within a year is slim to nil. If it's a design study don't expect to see anyone ever drive it. If it's a concept of a production car; maybe, maybe a few months after the introduction journalists will get some seat time. But Audi went in a different direction and let me drive the all-electric Audi E-Tron GT concept car that'll launch in 2021 less than a week after it was unveiled at the LA Auto Show.
Audi’s E-Tron blends luxury with cutting-edge tech
We've already seen the first pure-electric Audi in teaser images, under QR-code camoflauge and even unveiled under a barrage of lights accompanied by a DJ set from Diplo. But no amount of pomp and circumstance, sly marketing or famous DJs matter until you get behind the wheel. Good news then, that I finally had the chance to drive the Audi E-Tron in a barren desert, about as far as you can get from a well-orchestrated launch party.
Some companies are considering ditching WiFi for private 5G
No matter how much it's changed our lives, WiFi can be endlessly annoying because of how spotty and unreliable it often is, even for those of us in small homes. It can prove a bigger headache still for companies that need reliable connections for their devices, particularly across a wide area. So, some businesses are looking towards a newer method of keeping their equipment and employees connected: 5G.
Audi’s pure electric E-Tron GT is beautiful and fast
Audi's electrified E-Tron lineup just got a bit more crowded. The automaker's new impressive-looking E-Tron GT is sure to become an instant favorite for not only Audi fans but also anyone who's interested in a sporty coupe that just happens to look amazing.
Audi and Disney are creating media for self-driving cars
If and when fully autonomous cars hit the road in earnest, you're going to have a lot of free time on your hands. Audi and Disney think they can fill that void, though. In a chat with CNET's Roadshow, the two companies have teased that they're creating a new form of media designed with autonomous vehicles in mind. While the firms are keeping details under wraps until CES 2019 in January, Audi's Nils Wollny dropped a few clues as to what it could involve.
Audi teases its E-Tron GT sedan
Audi has teased the E-Tron GT sedan, and confirmed that it will reveal the entire car tomorrow, November 28th, at the LA Auto Show, according to Bild. The E-Tron GT will be Audi's flagship EV and, as reported earlier this year, based on Porsche's Taycan (formerly Mission E) platform.
